Cutting oils denature keratin, defat the skin and remove water from it, causing dryness, fissures and frank eczematization. Solvents remove the surface lipid film. Therefore the skin barrier is weakened and the absorption of irritant substances are increased. Saturated hydrocarbons from the solvent and paraffin series are stronger irritant than those from the aromatic series. To evaluate the health effects on skin among cutting oil and solvent exposed workers, self-administrative questionnaire survey was performed on 72 exposed workers and 91 non-exposed workers. The dermatologic examination and patch test were performed on the workers with suspected skin diseases. The results are summarized as follows ; The prevalences of some dermatologic disorders, such as primary irritant dermatitis, dyshidrotic eczema, allergic contact dermatitis and folliculitis were significantly higher among exposed group than non-exposed group(P<0.05). The positive rate of patch test among 16 workers were 6.3% for cutting oil, 18.8% for old solvent, 18.8% for new solventⅠ and 6.3% for new solvent Ⅱ. These results suggest that cutting oil and solvent may be a cause of occupational dermatoses among exposed workers.

<P>Noninvasive and precise stem cell tracking after transplantation in living subject is very important to monitor both stem cell destinations and their <I>in vivo</I> fate, which is closely related to their therapeutic efficacy. Herein, we developed bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne (BCN)-conjugated glycol chitosan nanoparticles (BCN-NPs) as a delivery system of dual-modal stem cell imaging probes. Near-infrared fluorescent (NIRF) dye Cy5.5 was chemically conjugated to the BCN-NPs, and then oleic acid-coated superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (OA-Fe3O4 NPs) were encapsulated into BCN-NPs, resulting in Cy5.5-labeled and OA-Fe3O4 NP-encapsulated BCN-NPs (BCN-dual-NPs). For bioorthogonal labeling of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs), first, hMSCs were treated with tetra-acetylated <I>N</I>-azidoacetyl-<SMALL>D</SMALL>-mannosamine (Ac4ManNAz) for generating azide (−N3) groups onto their surface <I>via</I> metabolic glycoengineering. Second, azide groups on the cell surface were successfully chemically labeled with BCN-dual-NPs <I>via</I> bioorthogonal click chemistry <I>in vitro</I>. This bioorthogonal labeling of hMSCs could greatly increase the cell labeling efficiency, safety, and imaging sensitivity, compared to only nanoparticle-derived labeling technology. The dual-modal imaging-guided precise tracking of bioorthogonally labeled hMSCs was tested in the photothrombotic stroke mouse model <I>via</I> intraparenchymal injection. Finally, BCN-dual-NPs-labeled hMSCs could be effectively tracked by their migration from the implanted site to the brain stroke lesion using NIRF/<I>T</I>2-weighted magnetic resonance (MR) dual-modal imaging for 14 days. Our observation would provide a potential application of bioorthogonally labeled stem cell imaging in regenerative medicine by providing safety and high labeling efficiency <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I>.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

The development of the solar and the wind energy is necessary since the future alternative energies that have no pollution and no limitation are restricted. Currently MW Class power generation system has been developed, but it still has a few faults with the weather condition. In order to solve these existing problems, combined generation system of photovoltaic and wind power was suggested. It combines wind power energy and solar energy to have the supporting effect from each other. However, since even combined generation system cannot always generate stable output with everchanging weather condition, power storage apparatus that uses elastic energy of spiral spring to combined generation system was also added for the present study.

Ce(1-x)Zr(x)O2 catalysts were investigated for bio-diesel production from oleic acid using catalytic deoxygenation. In this study, deoxygenation reaction has been carried out at 300 oC under 1 bar of 20% H2/N2 pressure in batch mode. Ce(1-x)Zr(x)O2 catalysts were prepared by co-precipitation method. Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 catalyst showed the highest oleic acid conversion and C9~C17 selectivity. It has been found that the deoxygenation reaction depends strongly on the reduction property and depends partly on the crystallite size of Ce(1-x)Zr(x)O2. Thus, Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 can be selected as the most promising catalyst for deoxygenation reaction.

The fungal strain belonging to the genus Monochaetia of the family Sporocadaceae was isolated from hairy long-horned toad beetle (Moechotypa diphysis) during the screening of microfungi associated with insects from Gangwon Province, Korea. The strain KNUF-6L2F produced white, light brown to dirty black surface, and olivaceous green colonies with the higher growth, while the closest strain M. ilicis KUMCC 15–0520T were light brown to brown, and M. schimae SAUCC 212201T light brown to brown toward center. The strain KNUF-6L2F produced shorter (5.7–14.0 μm) apical appendages than M. ilicis (6.0–24.0 μm), but similar to M. schimae (7.0–12.5 μm). Three median cells of KNUF-6L2F were light brown to olivaceous green, whereas brown and olivaceous cells were observed from M. ilicis and M. schimae, respectively. And the strain KNUF-6L2F produced larger conidiogenous cells than M. ilicis and M. schimae. Additionally, phylogenetic analyses based on molecular datasets of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions, translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF1α), and β-tubulin (TUB2) genes corroborated the strain’s originality. Thus, the strain is different from other known Monochaetia species, according to molecular phylogeny and morophology, hence we suggested the new species Monochaetia mediana sp. nov. and provided a descriptive illustration.

In the field of cephalosporins, introduction of quaternary heterocyclic methyl goups at the C-3 position has led to a new class of cephalosporins such as cefepime and cefpirome, the so-called 4th generation cephalosporins which are characterized by their potent activity. Since than many efforts were attempted to synthesize more effective analogs.
