Ethylene-responsive factors (ERFs), within a subgroup of the AP2/ERF transcription factor family, are involved in diverse plant reactions to biotic or abiotic stresses. Here, we report that overexpression of an ERF gene from Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis (BrERF4) led to improved tolerance to salt and drought stresses in Arabidopsis. It also significantly affected the growth and development of transgenic plants. We detected that salt-induced expressions of a transcriptional repressor gene, AtERF4, and some Ser/Thr protein phosphatase2C genes, ABI1, ABI2 and AtPP2CA, were suppressed in BrERF4-overexpressing Arabidopsis plants. Furthermore, BrERF4 was induced by treatment with ethylene or methyljasmonate, but not by abscisic acid or NaCl in B. rapa. These results suggest that BrERF4 is activated through a network of different signaling pathways in response to salinity and drought.
16열 CT angiography를 이용한 뇌내동맥 stent의 개통성 및 재협착 평가

목적: 16열 CT를 이용한 CT angiography 가 뇌내동맥내 스텐트의 개통성가 재협착 여부를 평가하는데 유용한지를 평가하고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 7개의 뇌내동맥내에 스텐트를 설치한 총 7명의 환자에서 16열 CT를 스텐트를 설치한 후 6개월 후에 시행하였으며, MIP를 이용한 curved MPR기법을 최적의 window setting를 이용하여 재구성하였다. 두 명의 방사선과 의사가 CT촬영 후 이틀 후 시행한 고식적 혈관촬영술의 결과를 모른 채 stent의 개통성과 재협착여부를 평가하였다. 결과: CT의 결과는 모든 스텐트에 개통성이 있고, 재협착이 없는 것이었으며, 이것은 고식적 혈관촬영술에서 확인되었다. 또한 스텐트 내부는 최적의 kernel 값을 적용했을 때 잘 평가할 수 있었다. 결론: 최적의 kernel 값으로 측정 한 16열 CT angiography는 뇌내 동맥내 스텐트의 개통성과 재협착 여부를 평가하는데 도움을 줄 수 있다. Purpose: To determine whether 16-slice CT angiography is suitable for the evaluation of luminal patency and visibility of intracranial stents in comparison with conventional angiography as the standard of reference. Methods: Seven stents (5 middle cerebral arteries, 1 intracranial vertebral arteries, and 1 intracranial internal carotid arteries) of two different types were evaluated in 7 patients. CT was performed on a 16-slice scanner (Simens Medical Solutions, Forchheim, Germany, detector collimation 16x0.75 mm; table feed 2.8 mm/rotation, 370 mAs; 120 kVp; reconstruction with standard and optimized sharp kernel), following implantation of intracranial stents at least in 6 months and conventional angiography was performed in 2 days as a standard reference. Curved multiplanar reformations with maximal intensity projection (MIP) with optimal window settings for assessment of lumen of intracranial stents were evaluated for stent patency (contrast distal to the stent as an indirect sign) and visible lumen diameter by two experienced radiologists who blinded to the reports from the conventional angiography. Results: All stents were correctly classified as patent and no in-stent stenosis, which was correctly correlated with results of conventional angiography. Parts of the stent lumen could be visualized in all cases. On average, 57% of the stent lumen diameter was visible using optimized sharp kernel. Significant improvement of lumen visualization (22%, P<0.01) was observed using the optimized sharp kernel compared with the standard sharp kernel. Conclusion: 16-slice CT using the dedicated sharp kernel might provide the useful information for evaluation of patency and lumen diameter of intracranial stents.
Isolation of soybean mutants with high and low inorganic phosphorus

In soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) seeds, phosphorus (P) is primarily stored in the form of phytate, which is generally indigestible by monogastric animals such as human, pig, poultry, and fish. Thus, this study was conducted to isolate soybean mutants with high available P. Inorganic P content was assessed in a total of 1,266 ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) M4 lines from the Pungsannamul cultivar. Among the tested lines, four EMS lines (PE379, PE432, PE2205, and PE2503) showed higher mean inorganic P (1.21-1.56 g kg-1) than did the Pungsannamul cultivar (0.90 g kg-1). Additionally, six EMS lines (PE718, PE828, PE1466, PE1552, PE3378, and PE3386) showed lower mean inorganic P (0.38-0.60 g kg-1). The high inorganic P mutants isolated in this study will be further investigated for phytate and total P levels. Moreover, the high and low inorganic P lines will be utilized in a future study of the biochemical pathway of phytate.
용접부에 대한 디지털 방사선투과영상과 필름 방사선투과영상의 상질 비교에 관한 연구

용접부에 대한 품질 확보를 위하여 방사선투과시험을 실시하고 있으나 기존의 방사선투과시험은 필름을 사용한 아날로그 방법을 적용하고 있는데 비용과 시간이 많이 소요되고 시험 공정이 복잡하여 개선이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 용접부에 대한 디지털 방사선투과영상과 아날로그 방사선투과영상의 상질을 비교한 결과, 디지털 방사선투과영상은 디지털 영상 개선 과정으로 인하여 필름 영상에 비해 보다 세밀한 관찰을 할 수 있었다. 따라서 디지털 방사선투과시험이 개선이 요구되고 있는 기존 필름에 의한 방사선 투과시험을 대체할 수 있을 것으로 평가된다. Conventional film radiographic test has been generally and widely used in the inspection on the weldment for quality assurance. On the other hand, since the analog RT is well known for typical time and cost consuming method with complex process of inspection, the industry has researched various ways how to improve radiographic test technology. In this study, we verified the fact that digital RT provides a lot more benefit in effectively detecting defects, ever film details, through digital processing of image enhancement, compared to film RT. As a result, we reached conclusion that digital RT is positively able to replace the film RT in industry in part or in whole

Film based radiography imaging technique has been applied to the non-destructive test in medical, aircraft, and power industries contributing to the development of the industries. However, the complex process for imaging and analysis has increasingly demanded the reformation of the radiography test. A digital radiography imaging technologies has been com out from the demand. This study was mainly focused on the assessment on the accuracy for the each image from digital radiography test and film radiography test was proven to crate a better image in sensitivity than film radiography test. In the IQI(Image quality indicator) transmission test, one or two more line can be seen in digital image than in film image. When applying to the boiler tube weld, film image is detectable to the 1.0mm depth flaw; and digital image to the 0.5mm depth flaw. As a result of this study, digital radiography technology is determined to enhance the image quality, compared to film radiography technologies
