A Case of Gilbert’s Syndrome with Severe Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia

Gilbert’s syndrome is caused by a reduction in the activity of uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) and induces chronic, non-hemolytic unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia. It has been suggested that 3-10% of the population has Gilbert’s syndrome. Commonly, Gilbert’s syndrome causes mild symptoms. However, a case of Gilbert’s syndrome with severe neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is presented here. The patient developed jaundice three days after birth. Five days after birth, the patient’s total serum bilirubin level was 34 mg/dL. The patient received intensive phototherapy and was given oral phenobarbital. Hemolytic hyperbilirubinemia was excluded on the basis of laboratory tests. Heterozygote polymorphisms of the promoter region (-3279T>G)and exon 1 (211G>A) were found in UGT1A1 gene. After discharge, the patient did not require any further treatment. This is the first case of proven Gilbert’s syndrome with severe neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in Korea.
국내 포털사이트의 클라우드 스토리지 서비스 사용성 평가 연구 : 네이버 N드라이브와 다음 클라우드를 중심으로

본 연구는 국내 포털사이트(Portal Site)의 선두주자인 네이버와 다음에서 제공하고 있는 클라우드 스토리지(Cloud Storage)의 사용성을 평가하고 네이버에서 제공하는 N드라이브와 다음의 클라우드 서비스를 집중 분석하여 이용자의 편리성을 도모하고 개선하는데 목적을 두었다. 연구의 방법으로는 첫 번째, 문헌연구를 실시하여 클라우드 스토리지의 개념 창출의 유래를 찾아 클라우드 컴퓨팅 시스템(Cloud Computing System)에 대한 분석을하고 두 번째, 정성적 평가를 위한 사용성 평가를 실시했다. 이 때 사용성 평가는 총 7개의 태스크(Task)를 중심으로 인터뷰 방식으로 실시하였으며 정확하고 공정한 분석 결과를 위해 각 태스크를 네이버 N드라이브와 다음 클라우드 두 사이트에 순차적으로 실시하였다. 피실험자들의 효과적인 실험 결과 도출을 위해 시간과 에러(Error)를 기록하고 시선 추적 장치(Eye-Tracker)를 사용하여 경험 바탕의 씽크 얼라우드(Think-Aloud)를 위해 사후 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이러한 사용성 평가로 네이버 N드라이브와 다음 클라우드에서 제공하고 있는 클라우드 스토리지를 분석하여 다음과 같이 제언하였다. 첫째, 클라우드 스토리지의 바로가기 아이콘이나 직접가기 경유노선을 명확히 하여 사용자의 이용 편리성을 높이도록 한다. 둘째, 클라우드 스토리지에서 이용률이 높은 파일 업로드(Upload)와 다운로드(Download) 서비스의 UI(User Interface)개선과 사용방법 설계가 필요하다. 셋째, 일반 이동 저장 장치와의 차별성을 둔 폴더공유 서비스의 특화와 서비스를 위해 모호한 권한 설정명시를 명확히 한다. 넷째, 각 포털사이트 클라우드 스토리지의 파일 정렬 기능을 확고하게 하고 UI개선을 통하여 사용자들의 편의를 돕는다. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usability of cloud storage services of two front-running web portals, Naver NDrive, and Daum Cloud. We will also make suggestions on how to improve their user experience(UX)To achieve ccurate results, we first gathered information of the cloud computing system and the origin of cloud storage. Then we performed 7-task in-depth interviews of both web portals' cloud storage services on a certain user group. We recorded the interviewees' eye movement with an eye-tracker device, times per task, and trial and error. For fair evaluation, interviewees were told to do the same tasks for both sites. The interviewees were also told to answer a survey afterwards to collect further opinions after experiencing both cloud storage services. After analyzing results of this user experience test, we propose the following. First, the web portals should have prominent shortcut links on their main page that lead to the cloud storage for easier access. Second, the user interface(UI) architecture of frequently used functions like file upload and download should be improved. Third, folder-sharing should be emphasized in order to differentiate cloud storages from personal storage devices or desktop. Fourth, because files and folders continue to accumulate in these storage spaces, it is essential to have better file rearranging user interface.

Background: Education for understanding the disease itself is important in the management of asthma. Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the repeated education for the asthmatic children through various games. Method: A 15 school-aged children with mild-to-moderate asthma who participated in the Soonchunhyang asthma camp were enrolled. We compared each score of the test which consisted of 4 components of asthma (triggers, preventions, treatments and courses). The first test was performed without any education. Thereafter, the second, third and fourth tests were conducted repeatedly with various games. Result: The average score of the first test was 11.93±5.20. Meanwhile, the scores of the repeated tests showed gradual improvement; the scores of the second, third and fourth tests were 15.64±4.77, 18.06±2.96 and 18.6±2.47. The score of the second test showed improvement as compared to that of the first test (P<0.01). The score of the third test compared also showed improvement as compared to the second test (P=0.03). Conclusion: The interesting games as a tool for the education of asthma could be helpful in not only understanding the disease itself but also improving the compliance of patients. Plant Analysis Methods for Evaluating Mineral Nutrient

Analysis of mineral nutrients in plant is required for evaluating diagnosis of plant nutritional status. Pretreatment procedure for the analysis of plant can be varied depending on elements to be analyzed. Wet-digestion is suitable for total nitrogen, phosphate and cations, however, digestion solution including nitric acid is not suitable for nitrogen analysis. Incineration procedure is required to analyze chloride, silicate and total sulfur. After digestion, total nitrogen is analyzed by Kjeldahl method, and phosphate is detected at 470nm by colorimetric analysis with ammonium meta vanadate. Cations and micro elements are determined by titration or colorimetry, also, these elements can be measured by Atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS) or Inductively coupled plasma spectrometer (ICP).
Analysis of Soil Total Nitrogen and Inorganic Nitrogen Content for Evaluating Nitrogen Dynamics

Various methods for assessing soil total nitrogen (TN) and inorganic N content have been developed to manage nutrient and to understand N cycle in soil. This paper address the technical procedures in arable soil samples to conduct soil sampling, sample preparation, and measuring total N and inorganic N. Among various methods for measuring soil total nitrogen contents, Kjeldahl distillation and Indophenol blue method have widely used due to reliability and economic advances. Also, two methods can analyze more samples at the same time compared with other nitrogen measuring methods. For evaluating inorganic N content, mainly in forms of nitrate-N (NO₃<SUP>-</SUP>-N) and ammonium-N (NH₄<SUP>+</SUP>-N), extraction with a single reagent such as 2M KCl has been employed, followed by Kjeldahl distillation or indophenol blue methods.

Pinusolide and its derivative, 15-methoxypinusolidic acid (15-MPA) are diterpenoid compounds isolated from Biota orientalis, which has been used as a Korean folk medicine for treating inflammatory disorders. Pinusolide and 15-MPA suppress nitric oxide generation by suppressing inducible nitric oxide synthase and exerted anti-inflammatory functions, whereas other functions and regulatory mechanisms are largely unknown. In this study, we investigated whether pinusolide and 15-MPA modulate adipocyte differentiation from pre-adipocytes 3T3-L1 cells. We found that 15-MPA, not pinusolide, suppressed adipocyte differentiation in a dose-dependent manner, as revealed by lipid droplet formation and expression of adipogenic genes such as adiponectin and aP2. 15-MPA did not affect mRNA and protein levels of PPARγ, a key adipogenic transcription factor, whereas transcriptional activity of PPARγ was significantly attenuated by 15-MPA. While aP2 promoter activity was increased by ectopic overexpression of PPARγ or by rosiglitazone-induced endogenous PPARγ activation, PPARγ-induced aP2 promoter activity was inhibited in the presence of 15-MPA. These results suggest that 15-MPA suppresses adipocyte differentiation through the inhibition of PPARγ-dependent adipogenic gene expression.
