Design of reverse osmosis networks for multiple freshwater production
Yanyue Lu,Anping Liao,Yangdong Hu 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.5
Reverse osmosis (RO) desalination, which produces multiple freshwater from seawater, has been studied in this work. An optimization method based on process synthesis has been applied to design the RO system. First, a simplified superstructure that contains all the feasible design for this desalination problem has been presented. In this structural representation, the stream split ratios and the logical expressions of stream mixing were employed, which can make the mathematical model easy to handle. Then, the membrane separation units employing the spiral wound reverse osmosis elements were described by using a pressure vessel model, which takes into account the pressure drop and the concentration changes in the membrane channel. The optimum design problem can be formulated as a mixedinteger non-linear programming (MINLP) problem, which minimizes the total annualized cost of the RO system. The cost equation relating the capital and operating cost to the design variables, as well as the structural variables, has been introduced in the objective function. The problem solution includes the optimal streams distribution, the optimal system structure and the operating conditions. The design method could also be used for the optimal selection of membrane element type in each stage and the optimal number of membrane elements in each pressure vessel. The effectiveness of this design methodology has been demonstrated by solving a desalination case. The comparisons with common industrial approach indicated that the integrative RO system proposed in this work is more economical, which can lead to significant capital cost and energy saving and provide an economically attractive desalination scheme.

In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the hyponormality of the block Toeplitz operators $T_{\Phi}$, where ${\Phi}$ = $F+G^*$, F(z), G(z) are some matrix valued polynomials on the vector valued Bergman space $L^2_a(\mathbb{D},\mathbb{C}^n)$. We also show some necessary conditions for the hyponormality of $T_{F+G^*}$ with $F+G^*{\in}h^{\infty}{\otimes}M_{n{\times}n}$ on $L^2_a(\mathbb{D},\mathbb{C}^n)$.

Zhanliang Wang,Yubin Gong,Yanyu Wei,Zhaoyun Duan,Huarong Gong,Zhigang Lu,Lingna Yue,Hairong Yin,Jin Xu,Yuanbao Li,Pukun Liu,Gun-Sik Park IEEE 2010 IEEE transactions on plasma science Vol.38 No.1

Stable sheet electron-beam transport is critical for sheet-beam microwave device which is attractive for high-power millimeter wave to terahertz-regime radiation. This paper studies the stable sheet-beam transport in periodic nonsymmetric quadrupole field. First, the conditions for stable round- and sheet-beam transport in periodic magnetic quadrupole field are deduced. In the deduction, we find that the symmetric quadrupole field and the space-charge field of sheet beam are not well matched. In order to settle this problem, we use periodic nonsymmetric quadrupole field instead of periodic symmetric quadrupole field to transport sheet beam. Finally, 3-D PIC simulations verify the conditions for stable sheet-beam transport and show that periodic nonsymmetric quadrupole field is intrinsically well suited for sheet-beam transport.

Identification of flight task using ensemble empirical mode decomposition based analysis method
Biting Yu,Bo Jia,Qi Wu,Yanyu Lu,Dan Huang,Shan Fu 제어로봇시스템학회 2015 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2015 No.10
To analyse the difficulty of flight tasks, a novel method was presented in this paper using pupil diameter of pilots. The proposed method integrated ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and ratio of high to low frequency wavelet coefficients energy to identify pupil data under different tasks from 5 crews. Compared to the extraction method using wavelet energy entropy, the proposed method got more obvious difference between manual departure and standard instrument departure. The results indicated that the difficulty of flight tasks could be distinguished by pupil diameter of pilots.
Error Analysis of Multidimensional Evaluation of Pilot’s Workload Based on Objective Measures
Chan Wei,Liming Wei,Zhengxiang Cai,Yanyu Lu,Qi Wu,Dan Huang,Shan Fu 제어로봇시스템학회 2015 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2015 No.10
Evaluation of pilot’s workload during flight is a significant consideration for the safety of civil aviation. However, some errors may be brought in the measurement and the recording of objective parameters. Based on a multidimensional workload evaluation, the time delay of cardiac activity and its impacts on workload are analyzed. The results suggest that within a certain limit of error around 10s, varying from individual to individual, workload can keep the main information compared to the original workload. As the error increases, the workload may become unreliable. As a consequence, the time-delay error of cardiac activity should be controlled in a limited scale to ensure the validity and reliability of workload.
