We here report a rare case of pyrrolidine-alkaloid-induced hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (PA-HSOS) complicated with situs inversus totalis and portal vein thrombus (PVT). The patient had abdominal distention and ascites, which were not responsive to conservative medical treatment or peritoneal drainage. Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) was successfully performed in the patient via the left internal jugular vein approach. After the procedure, abdominal distension and ascites gradually resolved. The TIPS procedure could be considered as a useful treatment for PA-HSOS patients with PVT.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Ni-doped WS2 composite coatings with various Ni contents were co-deposited using a radio frequency sputtering system on silicon wafer and AISI 440C stainless steel substrates. The microstructural characteristics of the WS2-Ni composite coatings and their tribological properties in vacuum were assessed. During introduction of Ni dopant in the WS2-Ni composite coating the sulfur/tungsten (S/W) ratio in the coating increased due to reduced preferential resputtering of sulfur atoms in the growing coating. The microstructure of the WS2-Ni composite coating varied from a fine columnar structure for Ni content equal to or less than 7.7at.% to a featureless structure as the Ni content increased further. The Ni dopant inhibited the growth of the coarse columnar WS2 platelets which was accompanied by nanocrystallization and amorphization of the composite coating structure. WS2-Ni composite coatings with fine columnar structure exhibited relatively low hardness but showed a high tendency to form a lubricating transfer layer. It also demonstrated low brittleness and prolonged wear life in vacuum condition compared to coatings with dense featureless structure. The variation in tribological performance between the composite coatings resulted from the different wear mechanisms associated with their distinct microstructures.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Microstructure of WS2 coating was modified by incorporating Ni as a dopant. </LI> <LI> The introduction of Ni increased the S/W ratio of the WS2 composite coating. </LI> <LI> High Ni content in the WS2 coating led to high brittleness and low wear resistance. </LI> <LI> WS2–5at.% Ni coating showed 5 times longer wear life than pure WS2 film in vacuum. </LI> <LI> Superior tribological properties were attributed to transfer layer and high hardness. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

In this study, heterojunction photoelectric devices based ZnO nanowires were fabricated on p-Si substrate with and without single-layer graphene as insert layer. ZnO nanowires and graphene were prepared by hydrothermal method and chemical vapor deposition respectively. The efect of insert layer on the morphology of ZnO nanowires was very weak as can be seen from scanning electron microscope and X-ray difraction. Raman scattering showed that the graphene prepared was a singlelayer structure. The ultraviolet detection performance of photodetectors with single graphene insert layer was much better than that of photodetectors without single graphene insert layer. The ultraviolet irradiation sensitivity of photodetectors with single graphene insert layer was up to 1071 which was improved 7 times than that of photodetectors without single graphene insert layer. Moreover, photodetectors with single graphene insert layer had faster response time (1.02 s) and recovery time (0.34 s).

Objective: To explore the effect of portal vein chemotherapy on liver metastasis after surgical resection of colorectal cancer. Methods: Patients fulfilling the eligibility criteria were assigned to receive either surgery plus 1-week continuous infusion of 5-FU (study group) or surgery alone (observational group). Patients in the study group received portal vein chemotherapy, whereby 5-FU (1000 mg/d) and heparin (5000 IU/d) infusion was initiated from the day of surgery and lasted for 7 consecutive days. Liver metastasis was monitored during five years follow-up postoperatively. Results: Sixty four patients were recruited and assigned to the study group (12 with colon and 20 with rectal cancer) or the control group (10 with colon and 22 with rectal cancer). Liver metastasis rate was 12.5% in study and 25.0% in observational group, the difference being significant (P<0.01). Conclusion: Portal vein chemotherapy could be an effective treatment in preventing liver metastasis after surgical resection of colorectal cancer.
Modeling and Analysis of Primary Side Regulated Flyback Converter with Pulse Frequency Modulation
Juzheng Yu,Shen Xu,Qinsong Qian,Weifeng Sun,Shengli Lu 전력전자학회 2015 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2015 No.6
A small signal model of primary side regulated (PSR) flyback converter with pulse frequency modulation (PFM) is firstly proposed in this paper. Output cable voltage drop compensation related to switching frequency is considered in the novel model (PFM-PSR model), which has another advantage of fast calculating. Frequency performance of entire loop is discussed with proposed model. A prototype is built and tested, experimental result fits theoretical analysis. The proposed model is proved to be accurate to reflex frequency characteristics of flyback system, which means that this model is effective in loop designing.

Hypoxia-induced microtubule disruption and mitochondrial permeability transition (mPT) are crucial events leading to fatal cell damage and recent studies showed that microtubules (MTs) are involved in the modulation of mitochondrial function. Dynein light chain Tctex-type 1 (DYNLT1) is thought to be associated with MTs and mitochondria. Previously we demonstrated that DYNLT1 knockdown aggravates hypoxia-induced mitochondrial permeabilization, which indicates a role of DYNLT1 in hypoxic cytoprotection. But the underlying regulatory mechanism of DYNLT1 remains illusive. Here we aimed to investigate the phosphorylation alteration of DYNLT1 at serine 82 (S82) in hypoxia (1% O2). We therefore constructed recombinant adenoviruses to generate S82E and S82A mutants, used to transfect H9c2 and HeLa cell lines. Development of hypoxia-induced mPT (MMP examining, Cyt c release and mPT pore opening assay), hypoxic energy metabolism (cellular viability and ATP quantification), and stability of MTs were examined. Our results showed that phosph-S82 (S82-P) expression was increased in early hypoxia; S82E mutation (phosphomimic) aggravated mitochondrial damage, ele-vated the free tubulin in cytoplasm and decreased the cellular viability; S82A mutation (dephosphomimic) seemed to diminish the hypoxia-induced injury. These data suggest that DYNLT1 phosphorylation at S82 is involved in MTs and mitochondria regulation, and their interaction and cooperation contribute to the cellular hypoxic tolerance. Thus, we provide new insights into a DYNLT1 mechanism in stabilizing MTs and mitochondria, and propose a potential therapeutic target for hypoxia cytoprotective studies.

The polypropylene/polyamide elastomer (PP/PAE) blends were prepared by melt mixing. PP and PAE in PP/PAE were immiscible completely. The size of PAE domains was large and the clear gap in the interface between PP and PAE existed, which did not meet the conditions enhancing toughness of polymers by elastomer. Therefore, maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (MP) was used to improve the miscibility between PP and PAE. The miscibility between PP and PAE was improved and the size of dispersed phase PAE decreased by introducing MP. The crystallization of PP became easier by introducing PAE as a nucleating agent. With the increase of PAE content, the melt-crystallization temperatures of PP components in PP/PAE/MP blends increased gradually. The melt-crystallization of the polytetramethyleneoxide segment of PAE component in PP/PAE blends were hampered by PP component. In addition, PAE can enhance significantly the toughness of PP, and the tensile strength and modulus did not decrease.
