      • A Management Performance Evaluation Model of Science & Technology Enterprise Incubator Based on Extension Membership Degree

Xiaoping Wang,Jun Liu 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.7 No.6

Management of science & technology enterprise incubator is complicated with much uncertainty. Its performance is hard to be measured accurately. Therefore, this paper analyzes key factors that influence the management performance evaluation of incubators and constructs a management performance evaluation system. It proposes an improved extension membership degree evaluation model of science & technology enterprise incubator based on extension theory. This model puts in place extension distance and extension side-distance of management performance evaluation indicator and works out corresponding extension correlation function and weighted extension membership degree. Through a case study, the model and the algorithm are proved to be effective and feasible.

Internet Roundtrip Delay Prediction Using the Maximum Entropy Principle

Liu, Peter Xiaoping,Meng, Max Q-H,Gu, Jason The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2003 Journal of communications and networks Vol.5 No.1

Internet roundtrip delay/time (RTT) prediction plays an important role in detecting packet losses in reliable transport protocols for traditional web applications and determining proper transmission rates in many rate-based TCP-friendly protocols for Internet-based real-time applications. The widely adopted autoregressive and moving average (ARMA) model with fixed-parameters is shown to be insufficient for all scenarios due to its intrinsic limitation that it filters out all high-frequency components of RTT dynamics. In this paper, we introduce a novel parameter-varying RTT model for Internet roundtrip time prediction based on the information theory and the maximum entropy principle (MEP). Since the coefficients of the proposed RTT model are updated dynamically, the model is adaptive and it tracks RTT dynamics rapidly. The results of our experiments show that the MEP algorithm works better than the ARMA method in both RTT prediction and RTO estimation.

Antagonism of tomato spotted wilt virus against tomato yellow leaf curl virus in Nicotiana benthamiana detected by transcriptome analysis

        Qiao Ning,Liu Yongguang,Liu Jie,Zhang Dezhen,Chi Wenjuan,Li Jintang,Zhu Xiaoping,Liu Hongmei,Li Fajun 한국유전학회 2023 Genes & Genomics Vol.45 No.1

Background Tomato spot wilt virus (TSWV) and tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) are highly harmful viruses in agricultural production, which can cause serious economic losses to crops and even devastating consequences for vegetable yield in some countries and regions. Although the two viruses belong to different families and have different transmission vectors, they share most hosts. Objective This study aimed to examine the transcriptomic expression of single and mixed inoculations of TSWV and TYLCV, leading to antagonism using high-throughput RNA sequencing. Methods We confirmed the single and mixed infections of these viruses in Nicotiana benthamiana (N. benthamiana) by artificial inoculation. And the expression changes of related genes and their biological functions and pathways during the mixed infection of TSWV and TYLCV were analyzed by comparative transcriptome. Results Basically, similar symptoms were observed in the plants singly infected with TSWV and co-infected with TYLCV; the symptoms of TYLCV in the co-infected plants were not obvious compared with single TYLCV infections. When inoculated with TYLCV, the accumulation of the virus significantly reduced in single and mixed infections with TSWV; the TSWV accumulated slightly less in co-infection with TYLCV, whereas this reduction was much smaller than that of TYLCV. The results suggested that TSWV had an antagonistic effect on the accumulation of TYLCV in N. benthamiana. It mainly focused on the changes in unique differentially expressed genes (DEGs) caused by the co-infection of TSWV and TYLCV. The eight pathways enriched by upregulated DEGs mainly included amino acid biosynthesis, citrate cycle (or tricarboxylic acid cycle, TCA cycle), and so on. However, only pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) and peptidoglycan biosynthesis could be downregulated in the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway in which peptidoglycan biosynthesis was involved in upregulated and downregulated pathways. Conclusions The antagonistic effect of TSWV on TYLCV in N.benthamiana and the change trends and specific pathways of DEGs in this process were found. Our study provided new insights into the host regulation and competition between viruses in response to TSWV and TYLCV mixed infection.

Black rice anthocyanidins prevent retinal photochemical damage via involvement of the AP-1/NF-κB/Caspase-1 pathway in Sprague-Dawley Rats

        Hao Jia,Wei Chen,Xiuhua Wu,Shuai Li,Hong Liu,Jiru Liao,Weihua Liu,Mantian Mi,Longjian Liu,Daomei Cheng,Xiaoping Yu 대한수의학회 2013 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.14 No.3

The effects of black rice anthocyanidins (BRACs) on retinal damage induced by photochemical stress are not well known. In the present study, Sprague-Dawley rats were fed AIN-93M for 1 week, after which 80 rats were randomly divided into two groups and treated with (n = 40) or without BRACs (n =40) for 15 days, respectively. After treatment, both groups were exposed to fluorescent light (3,000 ± 200 lux; 25oC), and the protective effect of dietary BRACs were evaluated afterwards. Our results showed that dietary BRACs effectively prevented retinal photochemical damage and inhibited the retinal cells apoptosis induced by fluorescent light (p < 0.05). Moreover, dietary BRACs inhibited expression of AP-1 (c-fos/c-jun subunits), up-regulated NF-κB (p65) expression and phosphorylation of IκB-α, and decreased Caspase-1 expression (p < 0.05). These results suggest that BRACs improve retinal damage produced by photochemical stress in rats via AP-1/NF-κB/Caspase-1apoptotic mechanisms.

      • Low‐Voltage Pulsed Electric Field Sterilization on a Microfluidic Chip

        Liu, Linlin,Zhao, Liping,Yang, Jun,Wan, Xiaoping,Hu, Ning,Yeh, Li‐,Hsien,Joo, Sang W.,Qian, Shizhi WILEY‐VCH Verlag 2013 Electroanalysis Vol.25 No.5

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>A polyimide substrate based microfluidic chip with thousands of comb‐shaped microelectrodes has been designed, fabricated, and tested for sterilization of bacteria by using pulsed electric field. The performance of bacteria sterilization as functions of the electric field strength, pulse number and width, treatment buffer, bacteria growth status, and bacteria enrichment by positive dielectrophoresis has been experimentally investigated on the microfluidic chip. Experimental results show that only 100 V are sufficient to obtain good sterilization of <I>Escherichia coli</I>. Higher electric field strength, bacteria enrichment by positive dielectrophoresis, longer pulse time, buffer with fewer components and nutritions, and suitable bacteria growth status also improve the sterilization of bacteria. In addition, configuration of the microelectrode array affects bacteria sterilization. This microfluidic device allows one to preconcentrate bacteria to a region with high electric field strength by using positive dielectrophoresis, and subsequently kill the enriched bacteria by applying a pulsed electric field through the same microelectrode array.</P>

Shearing characteristics of slip zone soils and strain localization analysis of a landslide

        Liu, Dong,Chen, Xiaoping Techno-Press 2015 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.8 No.1

Based on the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion, a gradient-dependent plastic model that considers the strain-softening behavior is presented in this study. Both triaxial shear tests on conventional specimen and precut-specimen, which were obtained from an ancient landslide, are performed to plot the post-peak stress-strain entire-process curves. According to the test results of the soil strength, which reduces from peak to residual strength, the Mohr-Coulomb criterion that considers strain-softening under gradient plastic theory is deduced, where strength reduction depends on the hardening parameter and the Laplacian thereof. The validity of the model is evaluated by the simulation of the results of triaxial shear test, and the computed and measured curves are consistent and independent of the adopted mesh. Finally, a progressive failure of the ancient landslide, which was triggered by slide of the toe, is simulated using this model, and the effects of the strain-softening process on the landslide stability are discussed.

Absolute Molecular Weight Determination of Sodium Salt of Methacrylic Acid/Acrylic Acid-2-Isooctyl Ester/2-Acrylamido-2-Methylpropanesulfonic Acid Terpolymer by GPC/MALLS

Xiaoping Chang,Zequan Liu,Qiang Zhang 대한화학회 2016 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.37 No.12

The samples of sodium salt of methacrylic acid/acrylic acid-2-isooctyl ester/2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid terpolymer (SSMAA) were synthesized by free radical solution polymerization. The absolute weight-average molar mass (Mw) and polydispersity (Mw /Mn ) of the polymers were successfully determined using aqueous-based gel permeation chromatography coupled with multiangle laser light scattering. The results show that mixed solutions of highly concentrated buffered salt (NaNO3 or NaCl and NaH2PO4 ) and organic solvent modifier (methanol) are needed to eliminate the undesirable interactions between polymer and polymer, and between polymer and stationary phase. Dynamic light scattering was first used to investigate the aggregation behavior of SSMAA in a variety of potential mobile phase compositions and screen the optimum compositions. The Mw and Mw /Mn values of the three samples prepared with different amount of initiator are 13500, 5820, and 2490 g/mol and 1.52, 1.45, and 1.47, respectively.

Effect of the Polymorphisms of Keratin Associated Protein 8.2 Gene on Fibre Traits in Inner Mongolia Cashmere Goats

        Liu, Haiying,Li, Ning,Jia, Cunling,Zhu, Xiaoping,Jia, Zhihai Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2007 Animal Bioscience Vol.20 No.6

The aim of the experiment was to detect polymorphisms in the keratin-associated protein 8.2 (KAP8.2) gene to determine associations between the genotype and fibre traits in Chinese Inner Mongolia cashmere goats. The fibre traits data investigated were cashmere fibre diameter, combed cashmere weight, cashmere fibre length and guard hair length. Five hundred and forty-two animals were used to detect polymorphisms in the complete coding sequence of the hircine KAP8.2 gene by means of PCR-SSCP. The results identified six genotypes, AA, BB, DD, AB, AD and BD, coded for by three different alleles A, B and D. Two SNPs in the coding region were confirmed by sequencing, which were A214G and T218C respectively. The relationships between the genotypes and cashmere fibre diameter, combed cashmere weight, cashmere fibre length and guard hair length were analyzed. There were significant differences (p<0.01) between the associations of the different genotypes with cashmere fibre diameter, cashmere weight and hair length. Cashmere length was the only trait that was not associated with the genotypes. The genotype AA (0.73) was found to be predominant in Inner Mongolia cashmere goats and the animals with this genotype had the thinnest cashmere fibre diameter compared with the other genotypes. These results suggested that polymorphisms in the hircine KAP8.2 gene may be a potential molecular marker for cashmere fibre diameter in cashmere goats.

      • An Interference Suppression Method in Wireless Network of C-RAN Architecture

        Liu Zhanjun,Li Zhaoyi,He Hongzhi,Peng Xia,Zeng Xiaoping 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.9 No.12

The channel sharing in wireless networks leads to user mutual interference, which also exists in the centralized, cooperative, cloud, and clean-radio access network (C-RAN) which is considered as the access architecture of the 5G mobile communication system. In this paper, the problem of uplink interference suppression in the architecture of C-RAN wireless network was investigated. Taking advantage of the centralized processing in the C-RAN architecture, the correlations of the signals from each RRU are analyzed, based on which we proved that under certain condition, interference can be eliminated by utilizing the correlations among signals. According to the theory before, interference matrix between network users was established based on signals from each user to its nearby RRU. Then, the interference cancellation matrix can be gotten. The uplink signals in the network were processed by making use of the interference cancellation matrix, which can turn the interference part caused by the transmit signal of mobile terminal into useful signal.

Preparation and Characterization of Polyimide/Alumina Composite Films as Improved Solid Dielectrics

        Xiaoping Cui,Guangming Zhu,Wenyuan Liu 한국고분자학회 2016 폴리머 Vol.40 No.4

Polyimide/alumina (PI/Al₂O₃) nanocomposite films were prepared by incorporating different nano-sized Al₂O₃ contents into PI which derived from pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and a flexible diamine 4,4-bis(3-aminophenoxy) biphenyl (4,3-BAPOBP). The micromorphology, chemical structure, dielectric, mechanical properties and glass transition temperatures (Tg) of prepared films were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), LCR metry, electronic tensile testing and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). SEM images show uniform distribution of Al₂O₃ nanoparticles in matrix. FTIR spectra indicate that Al₂O₃ nanoparticles are functionalized with γ-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (γ-APS) and the imidization was complete. XRD patterns reveal the peaks of PI/Al₂O₃ composite films were similar to those of Al₂O₃, indicating that the crystal structure of Al₂O₃ remains unchanged and stable after being doped into PI matrix. Meanwhile, the effects of additives on the dielectric and mechanical properties of composite films were also studied. The results show the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of hybrid materials increase with the addition of Al₂O₃ nanoparticles. The electrical breakdown strength and tensile strength of PI/Al₂O₃ can be markedly improved by the addition of appropriate amounts of Al₂O₃ to the PI matrix.
