        Synthesis and Curing of AUT-PNIMMO with Three Functional Groups

        T-PNIMMO with three functional groups was synthesized by cationic ring opening polymerization of NIMMO (3-nitratomethyl-3-methyloxetane) in the presence of TMP (trimethylolpropane) catalyzed by BF3·OEt2. Then AUTPNIMMO was synthesized by T-PNIMMO and allyl isocyanate. The polymers were characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and their thermal stability was estimated by DSC. Moreover, tensile testing was used to evaluate the mechanical properties of polyurethane elastomer based on T-PNIMMO and toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI), and isoxazoline elastomer based on AUT-PNIMMO and tetramethyl-terephthalobisnitrile oxide (TTNO). This showed an increase of tensile strength from 2.0 to 4.0 MPa and elongation at break from 150% to 500%, respectively. These results indicated that AUTPNIMMO exhibited a good thermal stability, had satisfactory mechanical properties and was expected to be used in the composite solid propellant and polymer bonded explosives.

        Anti-proliferation and pro-apoptosis effects of miR-582-5p in chronic lymphocytic leukemia via targeting HNRNPA1 and suppression of NF-κB

        Background MicroRNAs (miRNAs) function as post-transcriptional mediators for genes involved in cancer progression, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia. MiR-582-5p has been identified as a tumor suppressor in various tumors. The antioncogenic role of miR-582-5p was then validated in this study. Objective Mononuclear cells were isolated from peripheral blood samples of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and healthy donors. Expression of miR-582-3p in the mononuclear cells was examined by qRT-PCR. CCK8 assay was performed to detect cell viability, and cell cycle and apoptosis were evaluated by flow cytometry. Dual luciferase activity assay was performed to determine the targeting relationship between miR-582-3p and HNRNPA1, and western blot was performed to unravel the mechanism. Results MiR-582-5p was reduced in mononuclear cells of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia compared to healthy donors. Forced miR-582-5p expression reduced cell viability, and promoted apoptosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells. Cell cycle was arrested in G0/G1 phase via miR-582-5p mimic. MiR-582-5p bound to HNRNPA1 (heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1) and down-regulated its expression. Silence of HNRNPA1 decreased cell viability, promoted apoptosis, and blocked cell cycle at G0/G1 phase through up-regulation of IκBα (IkappaBalpha). Moreover, HNRNPA1 silencing attenuated the promotive effect induced by miR-582-5p inhibitor on the progression of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Conclusion MiR-582-5p demonstrated anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic roles in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell growth via down-regulation of HNRNPA1 and up-regulation of IκBα, thus inactivating NF-κB.         Rapid Annealing Effects on Microstructure, Texture, and Magnetic Properties of Non-Oriented Electrical Steel

        This paper presents a classic process-structure-properties approach for optimizing the magnetic properties of electrical steels. Cold-rolled non-oriented electrical steel (Fe; 0.001wt% C; 0.2 wt.% Mn; 1.3 wt% Si) was subjected to extremely short 3-30 seconds annealing cycles in a range from 880°C to 980°C with a heating rate varying from 15°C to 300°C/sec. The resulting microstructure was studied by means of optical microscopy and X-ray orientation distribution function analysis. Recrystallized grains were refined with increased heating rate, caused by the nucleation rate increase, which is faster than the growth rate due to rapid heating. The optimal grain size of 60 to 80 mm in terms of magnetic properties was obtained by increasing the annealing temperature range to 920°C to 940°C with a higher heating rate of 300°C/sec and an annealing time of 6 to 9 seconds. With the heating rate increase, the characteristic {111} recrystallization fiber of cold-rolled steel was depressed, but the beneficial {110}<001> Goss texture component was significantly strengthened. The recrystallized grain size and texture were enhanced by rapid annealing, and, as a result, the magnetic properties of non-oriented electrical steel improved.         Insect Tea Extract Attenuates CCl4-induced Hepatic Damage Through Its Antioxidant Capacities in ICR Mice

        The Insect tea extract (ITE) contained many polyphenols, the aim of the present study was to determine the preventive effects of ITE on CCl4-induced hepatic damage in mice. ITE treated mice could reduce hepatic injury compared to the control mice. The 200 mg/kg ITE increased TC, ALB, SOD, CAT, GSH-Px serum levels, and decreased ALT, AST, ALP, TG, BUN, NO, MDA levels compared to the control group. By histological observation, ITE reduced injury to hepatic cells, and these effects were close to that seen with the drug silymarin. The antioxidant related mRNA and protein expressions of Mn SOD, Gu/Zn SOD, CAT, and GSH-Px increased with ITE treatment in hepatic damage mice. ITE treated mice also showed higher IκB-α mRNA and protein expression, and lower NF-κB-p65, iNOS, COX-2 expressions than those of control mice. These results proved ITE has a prophylactic effect in protecting against hepatic injury through the antioxidant capacities.

        Effect of Short-Time Carburizing Treatment on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of M50 Steel

        By using scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-Ray diffraction (XRD), and hardnessand rotational bending fatigue tests, the effect of short-time carburizing treatment on the microstructure and mechanicalproperties of bearing steel was studied. The results show that when the M50 steel is not carburized, the hardness is 750 HV,the rotational bending fatigue limit is 1100 MPa, and the impact absorption energy is 15.46 J. After short-time carburizationwith the carbon potential of 0.6%, the maximum hardness in the carburized area, the rotational bending fatigue limitand the impact absorption energy are all increased to be 807.7 HV, 1210 MPa and 16.72 J respectively. When the carbonpotential is further enhanced to be 0.8%, the maximum hardness of the carburized area of the steel is further enhanced to be813.4 HV, but the rotational bending fatigue strength and the impact absorption energy are both decreased to be 1125 MPaand 13.65 J respectively, which has close relations with the increasement of undissolved carbides and the precipitation ofacicular carbides.

        Monitoring of Ambient Air Particles and Inorganic Elements in China and Korea during an Asian Dust Storm

        Concentrations of ambient air particles such as total suspended particulates (TSP), particulate matter (PM)10, and PM2.5, were monitored simultaneously from May to June, 2007, at four locations at Alashan and Beijing in China,and Seoul and Gosan in South Korea. These monitoring sites are in the pathway of Asian dust (AD) storms traveling from China to the Korean peninsula. An AD event was observed in the Korean peninsula on May 25-26. During the sampling period, the average concentrations of TSP and PM10 were each higher than 150 μg/m3 in Alashan and Beijing, but not in Seoul and Gosan. The concentration of TSP in Alashan (where the dust storm originated) on the day of the AD event reached 1824.7 μg/m3, this being the highest concentration of air particles observed during the sampling period. The level was decreased to 15% of this (274.7 μg/m3) in Seoul and to 8.7% (159. 0 μg/m3) in Gosan when the AD was observed two days later in Korea. Gosan, a representative background site in East Asia,displayed the lowest concentration of particles, with this maximal TSP concentration of 159 μg/m3. Inorganic element contents in the air particles were also measured, and the concentrations in the four different regions compared. Concentrations of anthropogenically-enriched heavy metals in PM10 and PM2.5, such as lead, arsenic,cadmium, and mercury, were higher in the metropolitan cities of Beijing and Seoul compared to non-industrialized regions of Alashan and Gosan. However, the concentrations of inorganic soil elements including iron, magnesium,aluminum sodium, and manganese, were higher in Alashan compared to those in other sampling sites.

        Posterior Apophyseal Ring Fracture in Adult Lumbar Disc Herniation: An 8-Year Experience in Minimally Invasive Surgical Management of 48 Cases

        Objective: Posterior apophyseal ring fracture (PARF) is an uncommon disorder that is usually accompanied by lumbar disc herniation (LDH). The aim of this study to describe the 8-year experience of performing minimally invasive treatment of PARF, giving particular attention to surgical technique and clinical outcome. Methods: We reviewed 1,324 consecutive patients with LDH seen in our department between 2013 and 2020. Forty-eight patients (3.63%) were enrolled who were diagnosed with PARF associated with LDH and underwent transforminal endoscopic lumbar discectomy (TELD). Mean duration of the final postoperative follow-up was 5.1 years. The control group was comprised of 50 patients diagnosed with LDH without PARF at the same facility. Data on clinical outcomes were analyzed. Results: The mean operation time in the PARF group was 105.4 minutes, which was longer than the mean operation time of the control group (83.9 minutes) (p = 0.001). Surgical complications, including dural tears (6.3%) and surgical instrument rupture (4.2%) were more common in the PARF group (p = 0.025). However, there was no significant difference in the proportion of excellent and good results and recurrence rates between the LDH patients with and those without PARF, respectively. Conclusion: TELD is a safe and effective minimally invasive approach for the treatment of PARF. However, minimally invasive techniques may require longer operation time and steeper learning curve for inexperienced surgeons. The separation and removal of bone fragments, a key step in the procedure, requires patience and care to prevent rupture, residual surgical instruments, and leakage of cerebrospinal fluid.
