Abstract

Chest digital tomosynthesis (CDT) is developed to solve the problem of overlapping and absence of depth information as seen in general X-rays applied in chest radiography and high-exposure dose problem of computed tomography. However, in CDT, noise can reduce the quality of the image and increase the rate of false diagnosis. Thus, noise removal is an important issue in the clinical application of CDT, and a total variation (TV)-based noise reduction algorithm is an excellent algorithm because of its high noise reduction efficiency. In this study, we demonstrate the superiority of the TV noise reduction algorithm by quantitative comparisons of analyses with conventional algorithms. The quantitative evaluation of the image quality, coefficient of variation (COV), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), and intensity profile are evaluated. The COV and CNR results in the TV noise reduction algorithm are 1.88 times lower and 1.54 times higher than those of the original image, respectively; the smoothest graph is also obtained in the intensity profile. In conclusion, it is expected that the quality of the CDT image processed using the TV noise reduction algorithm is better than that processed using conventional noise reduction methods and the use of our algorithm will increase in the clinical field in the future.

To determine patients risk factors and compare sutures for vaginal vault dehiscence (VVD) after laparoscopic hysterectomy A retrospective analysis was performed with 1059 patients who underwent laparoscopic hysterectomy between March 2011 and May 2013. The following parameters were analyzed using independent t-test and logistic regression analysis (SPSS version 18.0 ; IBM, New York, USA) : suture approach method, continuity of suture, age, BMI, parity, blood loss, uterus weight, and total operating time. The study group was composed of 932 (88%) patients who were sutured by laparoscopic sutures and 127 (12%) patients who were sutured by transvaginal sutures. 9 patients (0.8%) out of total 1059 patients had VVD after laparoscopic hysterectomy. Although statistically not significant, this study revealed that the patients with VVD had a tendency to have greater age, total operating time, blood loss, parity and had less uterus weight. Low BMI had a statistically significant difference in VVD (p-value = 0.016). VVDs were occurred in continuous suture rather than interrupted suture without statistical significance, and also more often in transvaginal sutures for vaginal vault closure than laparoscopic sutures with statistical significance. (OR = 6.029, 1.598-22.755, P-value = 0.008) Laparoscopic sutures is associated with fewer instances of vaginal vault dehiscence than transvaginal sutures after total laparoscopic hysterectomy.

In this paper, I summarize the case for the noise emission of domestic power plants and foreign power plants occurred recently. It is described to main content that is analyzing of the noise source and looking at the noise generated, if necessary to derive the solution. In addition, a case study is shown based on that noise levels can be changed by the differently surrounding environmental conditions during the measurement noise.

Altered expression of neurotrophic factors as well as neuroinflammation is commonly associated with Major depressive disorder (MDD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD). To investigate whether or not reserpine-induced MDD affects the expression of AD-related proteins, the expression of γ-secretase components and substrate were measured in brains of ICR mice following reserpine treatment for 15 days. In active avoidance test, total response time and peak slightly increased in the 2 ㎎/㎏ reserpine (RSP2)-treated group compared to vehicle-treated group (P<0.05). Expression and phosphorylation of MKP-1, which is a key factor in MDD pathology, were both higher in the RSP2-treated group than the vehicle- and 1 ㎎/㎏ reserpine (RSP1)-treated groups (P<0.02). Furthermore, full-length expression of amyloid precursor protein (APP) was enhanced in the RSP1 and RSP2-treated groups compared to the vehicle-treated group, whereas expression of γ-secretase components decreased (P<0.03). Among the three components of the γ-secretase complex, nicastrin protein underwent the largest decrease in expression, as detected by Western blotting (P<0.03). Therefore, the data presented here provide additional evidence about the pathological correlation between MDD and AD.
