      • Behc¸et 병에서 말초혈액 호중구의 Superoxide anion (O₂^(-)) 생성 능력에 관한 연구

        The present study was carried out to investigate the mechanism of inflammtion and tissue injury in Behcet's disease. The generation of O₂(-) was assessed by superoxide dismutase inhibitable cytochromec reduction method. The O₂(-) generation activity was expressed as nanomoles of cytochrome c reduced per 1×10^(6) neutrophils. The O₂(-)generation activity of peripheral blood neutrophils of the patients was compared to that of healthy controls, and was analyzed in the respect of clinical severity, exacerbation and improvement, pathergy reaction, and tetracycline treatment for oral ulcer. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The O₂(-) generation activity of neutrophils in Behcet's disease was markedly increased as compared with that of healthy controls. 2. In the patient group with severe clinical symptoms, exacerbated clinical course and positive pathergy reaction, the O₂(-) generation activity of neutrophils was increased. 3. The O₂(-) generation activity of neutrophils was markedly decreased in the patient group treated with tetracycline for oral ulcer.

        Logistics in construction project includes purchase, procurement and transportation on the network consisting of contractor, subcontractor, supplier, manufacturer, carrier and so on. Collaborations and integrations among the each participants play a key role. It is necessary that we take advantage of recent information technology in order to optimize logistics and achieve collaborative integration. The use of extensible markup language(XML) has been continued increasingly in recent years. This research aims at presenting conceptual Logistics system based on XML/EDI. Various participant in construction project will have more efficient and malleable Logistics atmosphere.

        The maturation of murine bone marrow-derived dendritic cells by tumor lysate uptake in vitro is not essential for cancer immunotherapy.

        <P>Immunization of dendritic cells (DC) pulsed with tumor antigen can activate tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) which are responsible for protection from tumor challenge and regression of established metastatic tumor. It has been hypothesized that tumor lysate contains factors that may modulate DC maturation. In this study, we examined whether the uptake of tumor lysate (MCA-102 fibrosarcoma) could modulate DC phenotypes in vitro and whether the administration in vivo of tumor lysate-pulsed DC (TP-DC) could elicit efficient tumor specific immune responses followed by a regression of established tumor burdens. It was investigated the uptake of tumor lysate by DC by means of flow cytometry and fluorescent microscope. Murine bone marrow-derived DC efficiently phagocytosed tumor lysate and after the uptake, the phenotype of TP-DC was surprisingly comparable to unpulsed-DC (UP-DC), exhibiting lower levels of CD80 (<51%), CD86 (<43%), and MHC class II (<59%). Also, TP-DC did not enhance secretion of IL-12p70 (UP- vs. TP; 54.5+/-6.4 vs. 50.5+/-4.8 pg/ml, respectively), contrary to those activated with LPS (113.6+/-16.8 pg/ml). However, TP-DC vaccination in vivo increased the IFN-gamma production from splenocytes higher than that of UP-DC (TP- vs. UP-DC; 41029+/-1523 vs. 4752+/-590 pg/ml, respectively). Furthermore, the administration of TP-DC enhanced specific T cell responses against MCA-102 fibrosarcoma. These results demonstrate that augmentation of DC phenotype and function in vitro is not necessarily a prerequisite for TP-DC vaccination to successfully promote anti-tumor immunity in vivo.</P>

        Anti-diabetic effect of amaranth grain ethanol extract on diabetic db/db mice

        This study investigated the antidiabetic effect of amaranth grain ethanol extract (AEE) in a diabetic animal model, db/db mouse. The mice were divided into 4 groups: normal control mice (C57BL/6J), diabetic mice (C57BL/6J db/db), diabetic mice fed a lower concentration of AEE (0.3 mg/kg), and diabetic mice fed a higher concentration of AEE (0.5 mg/kg). After 10 weeks of treatment, body weights, blood insulin levels and blood glucose levels of each group were compared. At the end of treatment, the results showed that both AEE supplemented groups had lower body weights than those in the diabetic groups although higher than those in the normal groups. Moreover, in both AEE supplemented groups, serum insulin levels were higher and blood glucose levels were lower than those in the diabetic groups although both values were higher than those in the normal groups. The results of this study suggest that AEE can alleviate many of the common symptoms of diabetes in diabetic mice and, therefore, has potential as a therapeutic supplement for normalization of blood glucose and insulin levels in humans.

      • Natural analogue monitoring to estimate the hydrochemical change of groundwater by the carbonating process from the introduction of CO<sub>2</sub>

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study monitored four geothermal groundwater (TW) wells (Suanbo, Yuseong, Deoksan, and Seokmodo), four carbonated groundwater (CW) springs (Chojeong, Bugang, Shin, and Bangadari) and shallow groundwater (GW) in order to interpret the carbonating process from the seepage of CO<SUB>2</SUB>. In a bid to figure out the carbonated reservoir where CO<SUB>2</SUB> mixing occurs, the CW samples represent the condition of the final carbonated water as natural analogues. The initial fresh water can be assumed to be the following depth: the deep aquifer with 300–700 m below the surface level (b.s.l) and the shallow aquifer to be below 300 m b.s.l. The pairs of hydrogen (δ2H) and oxygen (δ18O) isotopes indicated that all the groundwater samples had been recharged from meteoric water at various heights. The Δ14C data of the TW samples present residence time from 1980 ± 30 to 6400 ± 30 years BP (before present) and the δ13C data of dissolved inorganic carbon in the CW distributed from −3 to −10‰ range implying the mantle degassing effects. Regardless of seasonal variations, the TW samples and the CW samples were shown to be the Na-HCO3 type and the Ca-HCO3 type, respectively, indicating these aquifers remain in closed conditions. Based on the chalcedony geothermometer results, the carbonated reservoir of the CW samples were estimated to range between 43.08 and 83.13 °C, which were paired with the average temperature of the TW sites. In turn, the reservoir depth estimations taken by multiplying temperatures by geothermal gradients were estimated to range between 1.34 km and 3.90 km. Meanwhile, the in-situ data of the CW sites were estimated to range between 3.8 and 18.7 °C and between 263.7 and 488.7 mV of redox potential of oxidizing condition, which means there are the possibilities of shallow carbonated reservoir. In order to delineate the hydrochemical changes of the fresh groundwater during carbonation at a deep reservoir and a shallow reservoir, the PHREEQC modeling was conducted with 0.0001–10 mol L−1 of CO<SUB>2</SUB> mixing. As the CO<SUB>2</SUB> concentrations increased, the TW and the GW displayed different ionic variations but the inland groundwater identically moved to the Ca-HCO3 type. The coastal TW can be reflecting the carbonation process of the coastal AZMI section, containing large quantities of salts. The carbonation of these samples is triggered by 0.01 mol L−1 of CO<SUB>2</SUB> introduced into the reservoir but it still retained the Na-Cl water type despite a Log PCO<SUB>2</SUB> of over −0.5. The study results imply that there can be deep reservoirs and shallow reservoirs responsible for developing carbonated groundwater. It will be useful to estimate hydrochemical variations of groundwater resulting from the natural-artificial CO<SUB>2</SUB> leakage.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Hydrochemist of geothermal groundwater and carbonated groundwater to interpret carbonating processes as natural analogues. </LI> <LI> Carbonated reservoir depths using chalcedony geothermometer and geothermal gradient were estimated to be 1.34–3.90 km below surface level (b.s.l) in this natural analogue site. </LI> <LI> Different reaction paths of deep and shallow groundwater inferred using the PHREEQC. </LI> </UL> </P>

        XML 적용 철골공사 설계변경 프로세스 개선

        철골공사 참여자들은 문서를 통해 다른 참여주체와 다양한 정보를 교환한다. 현재의 철골공사 업무체계는 다단계 도급의 형태를 가지고 있어서 참여주체들 간에 문서를 통하여 신속하게 정보를 교환하는데 있어 많은 어려움을 가지고 있다. 따라서 여러 주체가 관련된 설계변경과 같은 문제점이 발생했을 경우 업무처리에 많은 기간이 소요되며 관련 주체들 간의 협의가 불충분해질 우려가 있다 본 연구에서는 현재의 철골공사 설계변경 업무프로세스를 체계화하였으며, 철골공사 참여자들이 신속하고 정확하게 설계변경 업무를 처리함으로써 성공적인 철골공사 관리가 가능하도록 하기 위하여 현행의 설계변경 업무 프로세스에 XML을 적용하여 프로세스를 개선하고, XML지반 철골공사 업무지원시스템(XCOS)을 개발하였다. The participants of steel works should exchange a variety of information with others through documents. However construction steel works in the multistage contract system has a difficulty in exchanging information through the documents promptly. So if the trouble as change orders arise, conducting steel works will take much time, and the participants may not discuss the trouble sufficiently. Consequently this study improved the current business process of steel works. And this developed business support system(XCOS) based on XML so that participants of steel works achieve a successful management of steel works through conducting business rapidly and correctly.

      • 파트너십에 의한 지하철 입구 공간의 쌈지공원 설계 및 시공

        A pocket park is valued in securing green space in downtown and improving urban view in the aspect of natural and environmental values, and it signifies a lot as the center of local residents’ community and harmony as well. Since subway exits and surroundings that have high portions in taking up street space due to lack of green space in downtown aren't made full use of, valuable pocket park place. Dangni Pocket Park of subway exits is a park completed with cooperative works and partnership by students, specialists, administrative organizations, businesses and civilian organizations, etc. without support of special budget. The study site was finally chosen to the space between exit No.1 of Dangni subway station, after analyzing the surrounding circumstances, availability and accessibility of the space among the several subway station exits of Saha, Dangni, and Hadan Station in Busan Metropolitan city. For the designing process, The Citizens organization for Million Amenity Park performed the planning and project proceeding, and 19 design drafts were proposed during the class of landscape architecture in Dong-a University. Design review panel members discussed to select the best draft in practical and authentical, and the related experts reviewed and revised to present the final design plan. The construction was conducted was performed under the cooperation between the civil, authorities, and industrial organizations, among which Saha District office managed for the waste treatment and maintenance matters. The graduates of landscape architecture department of Dong-a University and related industrial enterprises supplied landscape materials and related labors, were supported by 20 members of GPM, one of clubs of Dong-a University volunteered durig the most of construction progress, completing the Pocket Park of subway exits through partnership.
