Background: Radiation proctitis is a common complication of radiation to lower abdomen and pelvis. Different modalities of treatment are available, however the effi cacy is incomplete. We hypothesized that human placenta and adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells could have therapeutic potential on radiation proctitis. Methods: Placenta and adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells were locally injected on distal rectal mucosa of female Sprague-Dawley rats within 24hrs of 25Gy rectal irradiation. 1,2,4 weeks later, they were sacrifi ced and the rectum was removed and blood sample was obtained to evaluate various parameters of infi ammation Results: Transplanted stem cell was identifi ed at rectal mucosa during 4 weeks after irradiation. Severe proctitis was provoked after pelvic irradiation refi ected with extensive infi ammatory cell infi ltration, loss of crypt epithelium and collagen deposition. However, treatment with mesenchymal stem cell restored these pathologic indices. In addition, mesenchymal stem cell had anti-infiammatory effect, anti- apoptotic effect. Regenerative property were increased. These effect was more prominent on adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell. Conclusions: Placenta and adipose derived mesenchymal stem cell transplantation may be an potential therapeutic strategy to treatment of radiation proctitis.
Simultaneous 3D Machining with Real-Time NURBS Interpolation

Increasing demand on precision machining using computerized numerical control (CNC) machines have necessitated that the tool move not only with the smallest possible position error but also with smoothly varying feedrates in 3-dimensional (3D) space. This paper presents the simultaneous 3D machining process investigated using a retrofitted PC-NC milling machine. To achieve the simultaneous 3-axis motions, a new precision interpolation algorithm for 3D Non Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) curve is proposed. With this accurate and efficient algorithm for the generation of complex 3D shapes, a real-time NURBS interpolator was developed using a PC and the simultaneous 3D machining was accomplished satisfactorily.

With distribution industrial control system, the use of low cost module to achieve a highly reliable and safe system in real time distributed embedded application is proposed. This developed intelligent node is based on two microcontrollers, one for the execution of the application code, also as master controller for ensuring the real time control & the logic operation with PLD and other for communication task and the easy control execution, i.e., I/O digital input, digital output and interrupting. This paper also presents where the case NCS (Network control system) with Lon Talk protocol is applied for the filtration process control system of a small water treatment plant.

This paper deals with the characteristic analysis for the design of the three-phase ICB(Inductor Converter Bridge) circuit controlled by phase difference. To determine the voltage ratings of capacitors and thyristors, the peak values of voltage across the elements are derived as the functions of related parameters and are analyzed for al the range of phase difference between source-side converter and load-side converter. Also, the capacitance of capacitors is estimated and the current rating and turn-off time of thyristors are analyzed. All the results are obtained in consideration of transient switching. Finally, a three-phases ICB circuit is designed as an example. In the example, the system has two superconductive coils with inductance L_S=L_L=L=0.422H and total stored energy E=0.5MJ.

Background/Aims: We evaluated whether manometric sub-type is associated with treatment outcome in patients with achalasia treated by peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM). Methods: High-resolution manometry data and Eckardt scores were collected from 83 cases at two tertiary referral centers where POEM is performed. Manometric tracings were classified according to the three Chicago subtypes. Results: Among the 83 cases, 48 type I, 24 type II, and 11 type III achalasia cases were identified. No difference was found in pre-POEM Eckardt score, basal lower esophageal sphincter (LES) pressure, or integrated relaxation pressure (IRP) among the type I, type II, and type III groups. All three patient groups showed a significant improvement in post- POEM Eckardt score (6.1±2.1 to 1.5±1.5, p=0.001; 6.8±2.2 to 1.2±0.9, p=0.001; 6.6±2.0 to 1.6±1.4, p=0.011), LES pressure (26.1±13.8 to 15.4±6.8, p=0.018; 32.3±19.0 to 19.2±10.4, p=0.003; 36.8±19.2 to 17.5±9.7, p=0.041), and 4s IRP (21.5±11.7 to 12.0±8.7, p=0.007; 24.5±14.8 to 12.0±7.6, p=0.002; 24.0±15.7 to 11.8±7.1, p=0.019) at a median follow-up of 16 months. Conclusions: POEM resulted in a good clinical outcome for all manometric subtypes. (Gut Liver 2017;11:642-647)

There are many economic and operational reasons to integrate fire alarm signaling system with other building automation system. Integration of this requires open network with for the standard communication protocol and careful design practices. The important point for this is also the development of intelligent control modules for replacing the conventional zone adapter in fire system. Therefore, this paper proposes an new conceptual design of the open distributed fire alarm signaling system for the integration of BAS, a new intelligent control modules with LonTalk protocol and a new control modules for power line communication. Newly proposed additions to LonWorks network make it very well suited for integrating fire systems with other building automation sub-systems and another BAS with low cost. Additionally, it is very important that best design practices, test procedures and building codes need to be modernized to accommodate integrated building systems.
