        강천산군립공원 탐방로의 물리적 특성 및 훼손유형

        강천산군립공원 5개 탐방로 18.45 km 구간에 대한 물리적 특성과 훼손정도 및 훼손유형 등을 조사한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 104개 측점을 대상으로 탐방로 물리적 특성을 조사한 결과, 평균 노면경사는 13.34o, 평균 노폭은 1.39 m, 평균 나지폭은 1.20 m, 노면의 평균 최대 침식깊이는 0.50 m로 조사되었고, 훼손정도는『건전』구간이 14.19 km(76.91%),『강』구간은 1.15 km(6.23%),『중』구간은 1.30 km(7.05%),『약』구간은 1.81 km(9.81%)로 전체 구간에 대한 훼손비율은 23.09%였다. 자연 상태의 탐방로 상에서 물리적 훼손의 발생 및 진행과정을 기준으로 훼손 유형을 분석한 결과, 6개의 훼손유형이 217회 발생하였으며 노면침식 현상(36%)이 가장 많았고, 다음으로 뿌리노출(26%), 암석노출(15%), 노폭확대(11%), 비탈붕괴(7%), 수목 및 암석 노출 등 통행불편으로 형성된 분기(5%) 순으로 조사되었다. The purpose of this study was to analyze the trail deterioration condition and to obtain information for the desirable maintenance and restoration of a trail in gangcheonsan county park. The physical characteristics of a trail were surveyed to a total of 104 points of 18.45 km length. The average trail degree and width were found to be 13.34o and 1.39 m respectively while the average bared trail width was 1.20 m and average maxim trail depth was 0.5 m. Deterioration classes of a trail were 14.19 km (76.19%), 1.15 km(6.23%), 1.30 km(7.05%) and 1.81 km(9.81%) for nondeteriorated, heavily deteriorated, middle and lightly deteriorated classes respectively with a deterioration rate of 23.09%. Major deterioration types of trail were trail deepen(36%), root exposed(26%), rock exposed(15%), trail widen(11%), slope erosion(7%) and trail diverged(5%) in order of frequency.

        Clinical Experience of Single-Session Percutaneous Aspiration and OK-432 Sclerotherapy for Treatment of Simple Renal Cysts: 1-Year Follow-Up

        <P>PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of single-session OK-432 sclerotherapy for the treatment of renal cysts. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From October 2005 to November 2006, 48 patients (61 simple renal cysts) were included in the study. Indications were determined as flank discomfort (n = 37) or patient reassurance due to increasing size (n = 11). The simple renal cysts were aspirated under ultrasonography (US), at which point OK-432 was injected into the cyst. Follow-up was performed with US or computed tomography scan every 3 months until 1 year. Complete regression of the renal cyst or more than 70% reduction in size with no symptoms indicated a successful treatment. RESULTS: Among 61 renal cysts of 48 patients, the overall success rate was 98.4%. Complete regression occurred in 46 cysts (75.4%), and more than 90% reduction in size occurred in 6 cysts (9.8%). A size reduction of 80% to 90% and 70% to 80% occurred in five (8.2%) and three cysts (4.9%), respectively. A size reduction less than 70% occurred in only one cyst (1.6%). The success of cyst regression was correlated with cyst volume. Clinical symptoms resolved in 100% of patients with symptomatic cysts, and there was no enlargement of the aspirated cysts at the 1-year follow-up. After the procedure, there were only some minor complications, such as mild fever, flank pain, and leukocytosis, which subsided with the conservative treatment. CONCLUSIONS: Percutaneous OK-432 sclerotherapy is simple, safe, and effective, and it can be an alternative first-line therapy for simple renal cysts.</P>

        일부 농촌지역 재가 장애인의 요구도 분석

        The survey was conducted with participation of the 289 handicapped persons residing at the rural area OOeup-gun in Kyungbook for the period of March 2 - May 31, 2006, to study the nature in general of the handicapped and the boundaries of their need. For the nature in general of the handicapped, the study was done by gender iscrimination, age, marital status, religion, educational level, occupation, monthly income, disability cause, disabled duration, disability type, disability level. For the boundaries of their need, the study was done by demand of financial support, educational demand, demand of voluntary workers, need of rehabilitation and medical treatment, job training, improvement of living conditions, or so. Using the Win.SPSS program, we made a frequency analysis and conclusions on the nature in general of the handicapped and the boundaries of their need on a 2-test. Conclusions are : 1. Nature in general of the handicapped The existence of the handicapped shows high at the age over 51 (71.6%), male-handicapped (65.1%), primary school graduates (62.9%), farming engaging (65.2%), monthly income less than one million Won (80.5%), cause by disease (53.8%), duration more than 10 years (61.6%), disability at level 3 (39.8%), extremity disability (66.4%). 2. Correlation of nature in general with demand of the handicapped a. In demanding the financial support, support for helper’s compensation shows high (p<0.05). In demanding the necessity of voluntary workers, the male-handicapped appears high during the absence of family assistance and the female-handicapped appears differently per week and also appears high during the absence of family assistance (p<0.05). b. In educational demand of the handicapped by their age, the age below 30 demands technical-job training and the age over 31 demands medical education for health care (p<0.01). c. In demanding the financial support by educational level, support for living cost shows high (p<0.05). d. In demanding improvement of living conditions by postnatal cause of disability, improvement of house structure shows high (p<0.05). e. In demanding assistance of voluntary workers by disabled duration, "No Need" shows high in the disabled duration more than 4 years (p<0.05). f. In demanding rehabilitation and medical treatment by disability type, home-visiting treatment, oriental medical treatment and physical therapy show high (p<0.001). g. In educational demand by disability level, medical education for health care shows high (p<0.01).

        제왕절개 분만율의 지역간 변이와 관련요인에 대한 연구

        The purpose of this study is to estimate cesarean section rate in Korea and analyze the socioeconomic variables and health resources which affect regional variation in the rate. Samples were drawn from the record of vaginal and cesarean section deliveries based upon insurance claim bills which have been submitted to the National Federation of Medical Insurance for the first three months, January through March, 1991. The results are obtained as follows : It was found that. cesarean section rate was increasing rapidly up to 23.1% in 1991. Cesarean section per 10 thousand insured people was 4.8 and the number of cesarean section per 10 thousand insured eligible($15{\sim}49$ years old) female was 7.6. The fee for normal delivery was 109,489 won and that for cesarean section was 390,024 won. The average days of hospitalization in normal delivery was 2.3 days, and those in cesarean section was 7.6 days. On the average cesarean section has a longer of stay as much as by 4.3 days and cost 3.6 times more than normal deliveries. Cesarean section rates vary among medical facilities 19.8% at clinics 37.6% in small-scale hospitals, and 29.1% in general hospitals. The regional variation of cesarean section rates was also fairly prominent. The South Cheju Gun has the highest rate of cesarean section, 56.2%. Meanwhile no cesarean section cases has been reported in Sunchang Gun during the period of this study. The variation is noted among provinces. The rate for Cheju province has been 3.4 times higher than that for Chunnam. The number of cesarean section per 10 thousand insured people vary greatly among regions, too. This study has found that there exists significant regional variations among various geographic units in terms of average length of stay, average cost, number of obsretricians and number of beds. Multiple regression analysis was done to identify factors explaining the regional variance of various cesarean section rates : In the urban areas, no significant explaining variables were noted except the number of beds for the dependent variable of cesarean section cases per 10 thousand insured eligible females. The smaller the number of bed, the more cases of cesarean section was noted for an urban area. The is mostly because the rate of cesarean section is higher in medium-size hospitals than in large general hospitals. In the rural areas, the factor of education has been found significant for all three deplendent variables. The higher the educational level, the rate of cesarean section is most likely to rise. An income variable measured by the amount of monthly insurance contribution has been identified a powerful predictor in explaining the valiance of cesarean section rates. The same has been noted for the number of obstetricians. Similar findings are observed for the country as a whole. The income level has veen found as the most powerful explaining factor in the regional variance of cesarean section rates. In general the rate is higher in the urban areas, and lower in the area with more small hospitals. As this is the initial attempt to identify the factors relevant to the regional difference in the rates of cesarean section, more elaborated study is urgently required.

        오공약침의 안전성에 대한 임상적 연구

        Objective: Recently scolopendrid aquacupuncture has been a good effect on pain control but it has not been known about clinical safety. So, In order to prove the clinical safety of scolopendrid aquacupuncture, We have observed the physical reac-tion and clinical pathology test after scolopendrid aquacupuncture treatment. Methods: We analyzed physical reaction and clinical pathology test before and after Scolopendrid aquacupuncture treatment of 30 patients suffering from pain, who admitted department of Acupunture and Moxibustion, College of Oriental Medicine, Won-Kwang University Kwangju hospital. Results & Conclusions: The results were summarized as follows. 1) The distribution of sex was 14 males and 16 females, and the average of patients age was 46.2 years. 2) The distribution of symptom was lumbago, lumbago with radiating pain, nuchal pain and knee joint pain. 3) In the 30 patients treated with Scolopendrid aquacupuncture, hematologic test did not show remarkable change. 4) In the 30 patients treated with Scolopendrid aquacupuncture, Liver function test(AST, ALT, ALP) showed a slight decrease on the contrary, and abnormal rate showed a decrease of 1.0%(from 3.3% to 2.3%) compared with previous study. 5) In the 30 patients treated with Scolopendrid aquacupuncture, Renal function test(BUN, Cr) and abnormal rate(from 2.5% to 2.0%) showed a slight decrease on the contrary. 6) In the 30 patients treated with Scolopendrid aquacupuncture. Electrolyte were normal range before & after treatment. 7) In the results of the Urine analysis of 30 patients, Leukocyte, Protein. Glucose, Keton, Bilirubin, U-bilinogen were not detected before and after Scolopendrid aquacupuncture treatment, and the rest almost made no difference. 8) In the Physical reactions, all of the patients complained of pain of body partially, only one patient showed reddish and itch, but symptoms like those were entirely disappeared within 24 hours and whole body pain, swelling, headache, dizziness, fatigue and nausea was not observed.

        Olibanum Extract Inhibits Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Migration and Proliferation in Response to Platelet-Derived Growth Factor

        Olibanum (<i>Boswellia serrata</i>) has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic and anti- cancer effects. This study determined the role of a water extract of olibanum in platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)-stimulated proliferation and migration of rat aortic smooth muscle cells (RASMCs). PDGF-BB induced the migration and proliferation of RASMCs that were inhibited by olibanum extract in a dose-dependent manner. The PDGF-BB-increased phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK); the heat shock protein (Hsp) 27 was significantly inhibited by the olibanum extract. The effects of PDGF-BB-induced extracellular signal-regulated kinase1/2 was not altered by the olibanum extract. Treatment with olibanum extract inhibited PDGF-BB-stimulated sprout out growth of aortic rings. These results suggest that the water extract of olibanum inhibits PDGF-BB-stimulated migration and proliferation in RASMCs as well as sprout out growth, which may be mediated by the inhibition of the p38 MAPK and Hsp27 pathways.

      • 7,8-Dihydroxyflavone down-regulates the expression level of ganglioside GD3 and induces the dysfunction of mitochondrial membrane permeabilization in melanoma cells

        Malignant melanoma, the out-of-growth of abnormal cells in the epidermis, is one of the most aggressive and invasive form of skin cancers which threatens human life expectancy in the world. A ganglioside, a molecule composed of a glycosphingolipid, has crucial roles involving in cell-cell interaction, cell growth, proliferation, inflammation, differentiation, and tumorigenesis. Meanwhile, 7,8-Dihydroxyflavone (7,8-DHF), also well known as tropoflavin and a small flavonoid, is natural polyphenolic compounds found in several vegetables, fruits, and tree leaves. Although 7,8-DHF is considered that potentially inhibited cancer growth, proliferation, invasion, and metastasis, the relationship between its effects on malignant melanoma and ganglioside expression is not fully understand yet. Accordingly, this study was to investigate the anti-cancer effects of 7,8-DHF based on the relationship between protein-protein interaction and ganglioside on human skin cancer. After treatment with 7,8-DHF, we found that abnormal cell elongation and morphological change in the proliferation and growth on melanoma cancer cells. 7,8-DHF directly induced nucleus fragmentation and changed the level of pro- and anti-apoptotic proteins. In our study, we confirmed the mitochondrial membrane permeabilization and mitochondrial ROS production. Also, we found that 7,8-DHF downregulated the expression level of ganglioside GD3 by high performance thin-layer chromatography analysis. This phytochemical was found to be a physiologically active substance that plays an important role in melanogenesis and has anti-cancer efficacy by inhibiting the expression and activity of ganglioside. Taken together, it might be an important evidence for treating malignant melanoma to figure out the molecular mechanisms.

        Increased Ethanol Resistance in Ethanolic Escherichia coli by Insertion of Heat-shock Genes BEM1 and SOD2 from Saccharomyces cerevisiae

        Ethanol is generally toxic to microorganisms, and intracellular and extracellular accumulation of ethanol inhibits cell growth and metabolism. In this study, pyruvate decarboxylase (pdc) and alcohol dehydrogenase (adhB) were cloned into pET-32a vector and then introduced into E. coli BL21 to produce ethanol. Heat shock genes (BEM1 and SOD2) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae were inserted into recombinant ethanolic E. coli using pET28_a vector to improve ethanol shock resistance. Three different strains were constructed: Ethanolic E. coli (adhB and pdc genes inserted using pET32_a vector), BEM1 gene-inserted E. coli (BEM1 inserted using pET_28a), and SOD2-inserted E. coli (SOD2 inserted using pET28_a). Construction of these three different strains allowed comparison of the functions of these heat shock genes as well as their roles in ethanol tolerance. The toxicity of ethanol in recombinant ethanolic E. coli was tested by measuring cell growth in response to various ethanol concentrations. The results show that SOD2-inserted E. coli showed higher ethanol resistance than ethanolic E. coli.
