ON THE HYERS-ULAM-RASSIAS STABILITY OF JENSEN'S EQUATION

Zhang, Dongyan,Wang, Jian Korean Mathematical Society 2009 대한수학회보 Vol.46 No.4

        J. Wang [21] proposed a problem: whether the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of Jensen's equation for the case p, q, r, s $\in$ ($\beta$, $\frac{1}{\beta}$) \ {1} holds or not under the assumption that G and E are $\beta$-homogeneous Fspace (0 < $\beta\;\leq$ 1). The main purpose of this paper is to give an answer to Wang's problem. Furthermore, we proved that the stability property of Jensen's equation is not true as long as p or q is equal to $\beta$, $\frac{1}{\beta}$, or $\frac{\beta_2}{\beta_1}$ (0 < $\beta_1,\beta_2\leq$ 1).

      • Correlation of CT Perfusion Images with VEGF Expression in Solitary Brain Metastases

        Zhang, Jian-Hua,Wang, Ming-Sheng,Pan, Hai-Hong,Li, Shu-Feng,Wang, Zhong-Qiu,Chen, Wang-Sheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.4

Objectives: To obtain permeability surface (PS) values using multi-slice helical CT perfusion imaging and to evaluate the spatial distribution correlation between PS values and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in solitary brain metastases. Methods: Imaging was performed on 21 patients, PS values being calculated from the central, border and peripheral parts of tumours. VEGF expression was determined by immunohistochemical staining. Results: Rim enhancement was found in 16 cases, the border of the tumour featuring PS elevation with high VEGF expression in 13 cases. In the 5 cases with nodular enhancement, the border and the central part had high permeability and VEGF expression was high in all cases, the correlation being significant (P<0.01). Conclusion: VEGF expression in brain metastases positively correlates with PS values from CT perfusion imaging, so that the latter can be used in the surveillance of angiogenic activity in brain metastases.

Study on the Mechanical Behavior of Composite Special-Shaped Columns under Compression-Bending Without End Rotation Constraints

        Jian Zhang,Hongjun Wang,Ting Zhou,Zixuan Wang,Zhihua Chen 한국강구조학회 2023 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.23 No.1

In this study, three double-plate connected L-shaped concrete-filled steel tube composite (LCFST-D) columns were subjected to axial and eccentric loading tests using spherical-hinge supports to relieve the bidirectional rotation constraints. By analyzing the failure phenomenon of the LCFST-D specimen, the rotation of the endplate, and the comparison of similarities and differences between the support of the knife-edge and the support of the spherical-hinge, the bidirectional eccentric loading performance of the LCFST-D column when the bidirectional rotation constraint was released was studied. The test results show that when the spherical-hinge support was loaded, the out-of-the-plane deflection was more evident than the knife hinge. The bearing capacity of the LCFST-D specimen decreases as the eccentricity increased. When the end rotation constraints were relieved, the failure mode of the axial and eccentric loading was nontorsional bidirectional instability. In addition, the loading tests using spherical-hinge supports were verified to effectively release end rotation constraints. A finite element model for the LCFST-D column was established, and its accuracy was confirmed. From the failure mode, deflection, bearing capacity, and rotation of the endplate, the differences between spherical-hinge, knife-edge hinge, and rigid pad loading supports and their influence on bidirectional eccentric loading tests performed on special-shaped columns were investigated. The results show that the bidirectional eccentric loading performance of the LCFST-D column can be reflected by spherical-hinge supports. The theoretical formula was used simultaneously to verify the data from the finite element model and the test.

      • Galectin-9 Acts as a Prognostic Factor with Antimetastatic Potential in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

        Zhang, Zhao-Yang,Dong, Jia-Hong,Chen, Yong-Wei,Wang, Xian-Qiang,Li, Chong-Hui,Wang, Jian,Wang, Guo-Qiang,Li, Hai-Lin,Wang, Xue-Dong Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.6

Considerable research has been conducted concerning galectin-9 and carcinomas, but little information is available about any relation with the hepatocellular carcinoma. In this study, we employed a small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting galectin-9 to down-regulate the expression in HepG2 cells. As a result, after galectin-9 expression was reduced, cell aggregation was suppressed, while other behaviour such as the proliferation, adhesion and invasion to ECM, cell-endothelial adhesion and transendothelial invasion of the cells were markedly enhanced. When tumors of 200 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma were tested for galectin-9 expression by immunohistochemistry, binding levels demonstrated intimate correlations with the histopathologic grade, lymph node metastasis, vascular invasion and intrahepatic metastasis (P<0.05). Moreover, survival analysis indicated that patients with galectin-9 expression had much longer survival time than those with negative lesions, and the Log-rank test indicated that this difference was statistical significant (P<0.0001). The Cox proportional hazards model suggested that negative galectin-9 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma represented a significant risk factor for patient survival. We propose that galectin-9 might be a new prognostic factor with antimetastatic potential in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.

Single-cell sequencing reveals that endothelial cells, EndMT cells and mural cells contribute to the pathogenesis of cavernous malformations

        Jian Ren,Xiao Xiao,Li Ruofei,Lv Cheng,Zhang Yu,Leiming Wang,Tao Hong,Hongqi Zhang,Wang Yibo 생화학분자생물학회 2023 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.55 No.-

Cavernous malformations (CMs) invading the central nervous system occur in ~0.16–0.4% of the general population, often resulting in hemorrhages and focal neurological deficits. Further understanding of disease mechanisms and therapeutic strategies requires a deeper knowledge of CMs in humans. Herein, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis on unselected viable cells from twelve human CM samples and three control samples. A total of 112,670 high-quality cells were clustered into 11 major cell types, which shared a number of common features in CMs harboring different genetic mutations. A new EC subpopulation marked with PLVAP was uniquely identified in lesions. The cellular ligand‒receptor network revealed that the PLVAP-positive EC subcluster was the strongest contributor to the ANGPT and VEGF signaling pathways in all cell types. The PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway was strongly activated in the PLVAP-positive subcluster even in non-PIK3CA mutation carriers. Moreover, endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) cells were identified for the first time in CMs at the single-cell level, which was accompanied by strong immune activation. The transcription factor SPI1 was predicted to be a novel key driver of EndMT, which was confirmed by in vitro and in vivo studies. A specific fibroblast-like phenotype was more prevalent in lesion smooth muscle cells, hinting at the role of vessel reconstructions and repairs in CMs, and we also confirmed that TWIST1 could induce SMC phenotypic switching in vitro and in vivo. Our results provide novel insights into the pathomechanism decryption and further precise therapy of CMs.

Polymorphism Identification, RH Mapping and Association of ${\alpha}$-Lactalbumin Gene with Milk Performance Traits in Chinese Holstein

        Zhang, Jian,Sun, Dongxiao,Womack, J.E.,Zhang, Yi,Wang, Yachun,Zhang, Yuan Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2007 Animal Bioscience Vol.20 No.9

Lactose synthase catalyses the formation of lactose which is the major osmole of bovine milk and regulates the milk volume. Alpha-lactalbumin (${\alpha}$-LA) is involved in the synthesis of lactose synthase in the mammary gland. Therefore ${\alpha}$-LA is regarded as a plausible candidate gene for the milk yield trait. To determine whether ${\alpha}$-LA is associated with milk performance traits, 1,028 Chinese Holstein cows were used to detect polymorphisms in the ${\alpha}$-LA by means of single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP). Two nucleotide transitions were identified in the 5'flanking region and intron 3 of ${\alpha}$-LA. Associations of such polymorphisms with five milk performance traits were analyzed using a general linear model procedure. No significant associations were observed between these polymorphisms and the five milk performance traits (p>0.05). RH mapping placed ${\alpha}$-LA on BTA5q21, linked most closely to markers U63110, CC537786 and L10347 (LOD>8.3), which is far distant from the region of the quantitative trait locus (QTL) on bovine chromosome 5 for variation in the milk yield trait. In summary, based on our findings, we eliminated these SNPs from having an effect on milk performance traits.

An Effective Guidewire Looping Technique for the Recanalization of Occlusive Segments of Infrapopliteal Vessels

        Jian-bo Wang,Jun-gong Zhao,Ming-hua Li,Yue-qi Zhu,Jue Wang,Pei-lei Zhang 대한영상의학회 2010 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.11 No.4

Objective: To determine the efficacy, safety and primary follow-up results of a guidewire looping technique for the treatment of infrapopliteal arteries. Materials and Methods: From October 2006 to May 2008, an intraluminal angioplasty of the infrapopliteal arteries was attempted in 200 consecutive patients. Altogether, 417 infrapopliteal lesions, with lengths varying from 2 cm to 32 cm, were treated as part of this study, including 305 lesions in the anterior tibial arteries, 89 in the posterior tibial arteries, and 23 in the peroneal arteries. The ‘U’-shaped guidewire technique was attempted in 393 lesions from 361 limbs. The tip of a hydrophilic 0.035-inch guidewire was formed into a ‘U’ shape with the aid of a 4-Fr catheter and collateral branch vessel to recanalize the completely occluded long segment lesions. Results: A successful angioplasty with at least one artery recanalized directly to the malleolar or dorsal foot was achieved in 322 limbs (89%). The looping technique had a success rate of 90% (352 of 393 lesions). After the procedure, the rest pain was relieved in 58 of 69 patients, while 207 of 245 limbs (85%) showed improvement for intermittent claudication. Complete wound healing was noted in 21 of 54 patients, while 20 of 54 patients showed an improvement in the wound size or depth. A total of 38 major immediate procedure-related complications were noted, including retroperitoneal hematoma, distal emboli, and vessel rupture. Conclusion: The results of this study suggests that the guidewire looping technique is a safe and effective method for the recanalization of the occluded lesions in infrapopliteal vessels. A rapid modeling method and accuracy criteria for common-cause failures in Risk Monitor PSA model

        Zhang, Bing,Chen, Shanqi,Lin, Zhixian,Wang, Shaoxuan,Wang, Zhen,Ge, Daochuan,Guo, Dingqing,Lin, Jian,Wang, Fang,Wang, Jin Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.1

In the development of a Risk Monitor probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) model from the basic PSA model of a nuclear power plant, the modeling of common-cause failure (CCF) is very important. At present, some approximate modeling methods are widely used, but there lacks criterion of modeling accuracy and error analysis. In this paper, aiming at ensuring the accuracy of risk assessment and minimizing the Risk Monitor PSA models size, we present three basic issues of CCF model resulted from the changes of a nuclear power plant configuration, put forward corresponding modeling methods, and derive accuracy criteria of CCF modeling based on minimum cut sets and risk indicators according to the requirements of risk monitoring. Finally, a nuclear power plant Risk Monitor PSA model is taken as an example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed modeling method and accuracy criteria, and the application scope of the idea of this paper is also discussed.

Load-Balancing Rendezvous Approach for Mobility-Enabled Adaptive Energy-Efficient Data Collection in WSNs

( Jian Zhang ),( Jian Tang ),( Zhonghui Wang ),( Feng Wang ),( Gang Yu ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2020 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.14 No.3

The tradeoff between energy conservation and traffic balancing is a dilemma problem in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). By analyzing the intrinsic relationship between cluster properties and long distance transmission energy consumption, we characterize three node sets of the cluster as a theoretical foundation to enhance high performance of WSNs, and propose optimal solutions by introducing rendezvous and Mobile Elements (MEs) to optimize energy consumption for prolonging the lifetime of WSNs. First, we exploit an approximate method based on the transmission distance from the different node to an ME to select suboptimal Rendezvous Point (RP) on the trajectory for ME to collect data. Then, we define data trans-mission routing sequence and model rendezvous planning for the cluster. In order to achieve optimization of energy consumption, we specifically apply the economic theory called Di-minishing Marginal Utility Rule (DMUR) and create the utility function with regard to energy to develop an adaptive energy consumption optimization framework to achieve energy effi-ciency for data collection. At last, Rendezvous Transmission Algorithm (RTA) is proposed to better tradeoff between energy conservation and traffic balancing. Furthermore, via collabo-rations among multiple MEs, we design Two-Orbit Back-Propagation Algorithm (TOBPA) which concurrently handles load imbalance phenomenon to improve the efficiency of data collection. The simulation results show that our solutions can improve energy efficiency of the whole network and reduce the energy consumption of sensor nodes, which in turn prolong the lifetime of WSNs.
