      • Online Learning, Digital Platform and Higher Education in Vietnam :A Comparative Analysis

Thuy Minh Trang Nguyen(Thuy Minh Trang Nguyen ),Yoo-Il Bae(Yoo-Il Bae) 한양대학교 유럽-아프리카연구소 2022 글로벌 거버넌스와 문화 Vol.2 No.2

This paper examined the increasing demands of online education platform like MOOCs, the most famous open online courses, in the age of digital transformation in the context of developing countries. In case of Vietnam, the main case of this paper, the citizens’ desire for higher and technical education as well as disruptive innovation in information and communication technology pushed traditional colleges and education institutions to adjust to rapidly changing education market. Yet, the attempt has not been successful. What caused this supply and demand gap? Why are current measures inadequate to meet citizens’ need? Through the case study method with comparative reference to neighboring Southeast Asian countries, this paper argued that online education platform like MOOCs in Vietnam has not been successful mainly because of the lack of proper understanding of online education by traditional universities and systemic financial as well as legal support from the government. We argued that the removal of these obstacles will integrate the traditional and new online education and meet the growing demands of citizens.

An effective combination of reusable Pd@MOF catalyst and deep eutectic solvents for high-performance C–C coupling reaction

Minh-Huy Dinh Dang,Trang Thi Thu Nguyen,Bao Quang Gia Le,Linh Ho Thuy Nguyen,Ngoc Xuan Dat Mai,My Van Nguyen,Phuong Hoang Tran,Tan Le Hoang Doan 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.111 No.-

Pd-incorporated Zr-based metal–organic framework containing sulfone groups, named Pd(II)BUT-11, wassuccessfully prepared by dispersing the sulfone-functionalized MOF in Pd(OAc)2 solution. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, N2 isotherm sorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and thermogravimetricanalysis were applied to determine the features of the Pd-incorporated MOF. In the catalyticstudies, Pd(II)@BUT-11 was shown to be an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for synthesizing various stilbenederivatives via the cross-coupling Heck reaction with DABCO-derived deep eutectic solvent (DES) asa green solvent. Notably, the catalyst and the solvent could be recovered and reused, with their activityand structure remaining stable throughout several trials. The method provides an alternative solution tothe conventional catalysts and solvents, resulting in a green and efficient stilbene synthesis process. Furthermore, the stilbenes were separated by extraction with ethyl acetate due to the low solubility ofDES with this solvent.

        Using sulfate-functionalized Hf-based metal–organic frameworks as a heterogeneous catalyst for solvent-free synthesis of pyrimido[1,2-a] benzimidazoles via one-pot three-component reaction

Minh-Huy Dinh Dang,Linh Ho Thuy Nguyen,Trang Thi Thu Nguyen,Ngoc Xuan Dat Mai,Phuong Hoang Tran,Tan Le Hoang Doan 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.103 No.-

Functionalized metal–organic frameworks have recently received significant attention in heterogeneouscatalysis applications due to their high catalytic activity. In this work, a sulfate-functionalized Hf-clusterbasedmetal–organic framework was prepared via sulfation of a Hf-MOF, named Hf-BTC, constructed byHf6 clusters and 1,3,5-tricarboxylate linkers. The Hf-BTC-SO4 material was consequently demonstrated tobe an efficiently reusable superacid catalyst for a one-pot three-component reaction of pyrimido[1,2-a]benzimidazoles synthesis. The reaction catalyzed by the sulfated Hf-BTC could be carried out under mildand solvent-free conditions and give superior performance in a wide range of substrates. According todetailed investigation, the good catalytic performance of the sulfated-functionalized MOF likely originatesfrom the high-porosity framework and the high active sites of the functionalized clusters. Importantly, the catalyst could be easy to recover and reuse the functionalized framework several timeswith minor changes in catalytic efficiency.

Who Influences the Public Intention to Get a COVID-19 Vaccine and What are the Public References and Concerns? A Population Survey in Vietnam

Duong Minh Cuong,Nguyen Hong Trang,Duong Bich Thuy 대한감염학회 2021 Infection and Chemotherapy Vol.53 No.4

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine acceptance is influenced by the trusted recommenders. This survey examined the public references, concerns, and trust in seven groups of recommenders regarding COVID-19 vaccine in Vietnam. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 1,579 participants between April 16 and July 16, 2021. Participants’ references, concerns, and responses to vaccination recommendations made by government officials, employers, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, senior family members, and religious leaders were captured using a selfadministered questionnaire. Results: Rates of trust ranged from 18.5% to 89.1%. The highest rates were attributable to government (89.1%) and physicians (85.9%). Less than half of participants would accept the vaccines if pharmacists (45.5%), nurses (44.7%), employers (42.4%), senior family members (28.1%), and religious leaders (18.4%) recommended it. Only 37.6% of participants thought that vaccines were safe for them, while 57% were unsure. Most participants would wait and see how people respond to the vaccines before getting vaccinated (91.5%), preferred to receive the vaccines at public hospitals (88.6%), and were concerned about vaccine effectiveness (86.9%) and side effects (76.4%), while 61.8% were concerned about vaccine cost. Conclusion: Focusing on the personal benefit and relying on the government, physicians, and social role models would make the vaccine advertising campaigns more effective. If annual vaccinations were needed, providing the community with affordable vaccines would be an appropriate, long-term solution to ensure vaccination coverage in low-resource countries like Vietnam. Further studies are needed to examine reasons for the public reference of vaccination centers which may help in improving their confidence in getting the vaccine, regardless of the settings.

The Levels of COVID-19 Related Health Literacy among University Students in Vietnam

Duong Minh Cuong,Nguyen Hong Trang,Duong Bich Thuy,Vu Minh Thuy 대한감염학회 2021 Infection and Chemotherapy Vol.53 No.1

Background: Vietnam is among the few countries that were successful in the fight against the first wave of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, subsequent domestic outbreaks of COVID-19 continue to occur. To sharp the community education program to guarantee the final success in the fight against COVID-19 in Vietnam and comparable countries, we examined the levels of COVID-19 knowledge and associated predictors among university students in Vietnam. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on all students enrolling at Phenikaa University using a self-developed questionnaire consisted of 20 questions regarding COVID-19's risk factors, transmission routes, symptoms, and prevention. Results: Among 728 participants, 40.9% were male, 63.2% studied health-related majors, and 18.1% lived alone. Correct response rates ranged from 25.3% to 98.9% across 20 questions. Only 51.9% (378/728) of participants had good knowledge levels. Studying health majors (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 0.547, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.398 - 0.751, P <0.001), and living with the seniors (AOR 0.612, 95% CI 0.389 - 0.963, P = 0.034) or with friends (AOR 0.405, 95% CI 0.252 – 0.650, P <0.001) were negatively associated with a poor level of COVID-19 knowledge. Conclusion: The proportion of university students having good knowledge levels is suboptimal. It is essential to improve the quality of COVID-19 education with a more focus on not only the preventive measures, but also the disease itself. More studies are needed to improve the level of COVID-19 knowledge among those living alone or do not study healthrelated majors.

Assessment of Left Ventricular Function and Regional Wall Motion by 256-Slice Dual-Source Coronary CT Angiography: A Comparison With 2D Transthoracic Echocardiography

Le Thi Thuy Lien,Nguyen Khoi Viet,Hoang Van Hoa,Phung Bao Ngoc,Nguyen Ngoc Trang,Vu Thi Kim Thoa,Nguyen Cong Tien,Phan Anh Phuong,Pham Minh Thong,Vu Dang Luu 아시아심장혈관영상의학회 2022 Cardiovascular Imaging Asia Vol.6 No.2

Objective: To compare left ventricular (LV) function, ejection fraction (EF), end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), and regional wall motion analyzed in 256-slice dualsource coronary CT angiography (DSCT) with 2D transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Materials and Methods: One hundred twelve patients suspected of coronary artery disease underwent DSCT and 2D-TTE within one week for LVEF, EDV, and ESV. The correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE measurements was analyzed through linear regression and Bland- Altman analysis. Regional wall motion was visually scored with a 3-point scale (1, normal; 2, hypokinesia; 3, dysphagia, akinesia). Results: Average LVEF at 66.45%±1.27% (range 23%–85%) as determined on DSCT compared with 66.09%±1.01% (range 25%–84%) on 2D-TTE. LVEF exhibited a good correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE (r=0.715; p<0.001). Good correlations between DSCT and 2D-TTE were demonstrated for LVEDV (r=0.732; p<0.001) and LVESV (r=0.841; p<0.001). Mean differences (±SD) of 1.78±24.10 mL (p<0.05) and 0.77±13.70 mL (p<0.05) were observed between DSCT and 2D-TTE for LVEDV and LVESV, respectively. LVEF was slightly overestimated with DSCT (0.52%±9.59%; p<0.05). Although the LVEF values calculated by DSCT and 2D-TTE were similar, EDV and ESV from DSCT were statistically higher than those from 2D-TTE (p<0.05). Agreement between DSCT and 2D-TTE in regional wall motion was 96.4%, κ=0.840. Conclusion: DSCT can provide comparable results to those using 2D-TTE for LV function (EF, EDV, and ESV) and regional wall motion assessment in a heterogeneous population.

Left Pulmonary Artery Sling: Report of Five Cases on Multidetector Computed Tomography From Vietnamese Children

Phung Bao Ngoc,Nguyen Khoi Viet,Hoang Van Hoa,Nguyen Ngoc Trang,Le Thi Thuy Lien,Pham Minh Thong,Vu Dang Luu 아시아심장혈관영상의학회 2022 Cardiovascular Imaging Asia Vol.6 No.2

Left pulmonary artery sling (LPAS) is a rare congenital anomaly in which the left pulmonary artery (LPA) originates from the posterior aspect of the right pulmonary artery and courses between the trachea and esophagus to reach the left lung. This anomaly causes distal tracheal and/or right main stem bronchus compression. Most LPAS cases are associated with early symptom onset, around 2 month-old, and have severe respiratory distress within the first year of life. There are two major types of LPAS based on the location of LPA and abnormal bronchial branching. The diagnosis can be made by using various imaging modalities. Herein, we present the imaging characteristics on multidetector computed tomography of 5 LPAS cases with respiratory distress (2 months to 12 months).

Vu Van Khien,Duong Minh Thang,Tran Manh Hai,Nguyen Quang Duat,Pham Hong Khanh,Dang Thuy Ha,Tran Thanh Binh,Ho Dang Quy Dung,Tran Thi Huyen Trang,Yoshio Yamaoka 거트앤리버 소화기연관학회협의회 2019 Gut and Liver Vol.13 No.5

Antibiotic resistance is the most important factor leading to the failure of eradication regimens. This review focuses on the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori primary and secondary resistance to clarithromycin, metronidazole, amoxicillin, levofloxacin, tetracycline, and multidrug in Vietnam. We searched the PubMed, EMBASE, Vietnamese National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Vietnamese Biomedical databases from January 2000 to December 2016. The search terms included the following: H. pylori infection, antibiotic (including clarithromycin, metronidazole, amoxicillin, levofloxacin, tetracycline, and multidrug) resistance in Vietnam. The data were summarized in an extraction table and analyzed manually. Finally, Excel 2007 software was used to create charts. Ten studies (three studies in English and seven in Vietnamese) were included in this review. A total of 308, 412, 523, 408, 399, and 268 H. pylori strains were included in this review to evaluate the prevalence of H. pylori primary resistance to amoxicillin, clarithromycin, metronidazole, levofloxacin, tetracycline, and multidrug resistance, respectively. Overall, the primary resistance rates of amoxicillin, clarithromycin, metronidazole, levofloxacin, tetracycline, and multidrug resistance were 15.0%, 34.1%, 69.4%, 27.9%, 17.9% and 48.8%, respectively. Secondary resistance rates of amoxicillin, clarithromycin, metronidazole, levofloxacin, tetracycline, and multidrug resistance were 9.5%, 74.9%, 61.5%, 45.7%, 23.5% and 62.3%, respectively. In Vietnam, primary and secondary resistance to H. pylori is increasing over time and affects the effectiveness of H. pylori eradication.
