Factors Affecting the Development of Vietnamese Construction and Real Estate Companies

Giang Lam PHAN(Giang Lam PHAN ),Thuy Dieu NGUYEN(Thuy Dieu NGUYEN ),Chi Thi NGUYEN(Chi Thi NGUYEN ),Lan NGUYEN(Lan NGUYEN ),Le Thi TRAN(Le Thi TRAN ) 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.9

This study aims to investigate the factors that contribute to the sustainable development of 334 Vietnamese construction and real estate companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Vietnam over a 5-year period from 2016 to 2020. By using regression analysis with the support of STATA software through examining the financial statements, which involves looking into crucial ratios including capital structure, profitability, firm size, accounts receivable management, and tangible assets investment, this study sheds light on whether these accounting indicators could help predict the construction and real estate companies growing potential in the future. Nevertheless, these ratios slightly contribute to the explanation of the change in revenue growth ratio, with a result of 1.6%, indicating that the value relevance of accounting information provides a modest and insignificant effect on investment decisions. This is understandable because the Vietnamese construction and real estate market still has many shortcomings in handling unexpected events, as well as the industry’s peculiarities related to major capital sources from bank loans. Based on this study, governmental authorities and business executives should plan appropriate risk management policies and measures to contribute to the sustainable development of construction and real estate companies.

A Comparative Study on the Adipogenic and Myogenic Capacity of Muscle Satellite Cells, and Meat Quality Characteristics between Hanwoo and Vietnamese Yellow Steers

        Nguyen Thu Uyen,Dao Van Cuong,Pham Dieu Thuy,Luu Hong Son,Nguyen Thi Ngan,Nguyen Hung Quang,Nguyen Duc Tuan,In-ho Hwang 한국축산식품학회 2023 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.43 No.4

Myogenesis and adipogenesis are the important processes determining the muscle growth and fat accumulation livestock, which ultimately affecting their meat quality. Hanwoo is a popular breed and its meat has been exported to other countries. The objective of this study was to compare the myogenesis and adipogenesis properties in satellite cells, and meat quality between Hanwoo and Vietnamese yellow cattle (VYC). Same 28-months old Hanwoo (body weight: 728±45 kg) and VYC (body weight: 285±36 kg) steers (n=10 per breed) were used. Immediately after slaughter, tissue samples were collected from longissimus lumborum (LL) muscles for satellite cells isolation and assays. After 24 h post-mortem, LL muscles from left carcass sides were collected for meat quality analysis. Under the same in vitro culture condition, the proliferation rate was higher in Hanwoo compared to VYC (p<0.05). Fusion index was almost 3 times greater in Hanwoo (42.17%), compared with VYC (14.93%; p<0.05). The expressions of myogenesis (myogenic factor 5, myogenic differentiation 1, myogenin, and myogenic factor 6)- and adipogenesis (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma)-regulating genes, and triglyceride content were higher in Hanwoo, compared with VYC (p<0.05). Hanwoo beef had a higher intramuscular fat and total monounsaturated fatty acids contents than VYC beef (p<0.05). Whilst, VYC meat had a higher CIE a* and total polyunsaturated fatty acids content (p<0.05). Overall, there was a significant difference in the in vitro culture characteristics and genes expression of satellite cells, and meat quality between the Hanwoo and VYC.

Preparation of new dinuclear half-titanocene complexes with <i>ortho-</i> and <i>meta</i>-xylene linkages and investigation of styrene polymerization

Linh, Nguyen Thuy Ba,Huyen, Nguyen Thi Dieu,Noh, Seok Kyun,Lyoo, Won Seok,Lee, Dong-Ho,Kim, Yongman Elsevier 2009 Journal of organometallic chemistry Vol.694 No.21

The catalysts were characterized by 1H- and 13C NMR, and elemental analysis. These catalysts were found to be effective in forming SPS in combination with MAO. The activities of the catalysts with rigid <I>ortho</I>- and <I>meta</I>-xylene bridges were higher than those of catalysts with flexible pentamethylene bridges. The catalytic activity of four dinuclear half-titanocenes increased in the order of <B>4</B><<B>5</B><<B>7</B><<B>8</B>. This result displays that the <I>meta</I>-xylene bridged catalyst is more active than the <I>ortho</I>-xylene bridged and that the aryloxo group at the titanium center is more effective at promoting catalyst activity compared to the chloride group at the titanium center. Temperature and ratio of [Al]:[Ti] had significant effects on catalytic activity. Polymerizations were conducted at three different temperatures (25, 40, and 70°C) with variation in the [Al]:[Ti] ratio from 2000 to 4000. It was observed that activity of the catalysts increased with increasing temperature, as well as higher [Al]:[Ti]. Different xylene linkage patterns (<I>ortho</I> and <I>meta</I>) were recognized to be a principal factor leading to the characteristics of the dinuclear catalyst due to its different spatial arrangement, causing dissimilar intramolecular interactions between the two active sites.</P>

Factors Affecting Financial Leverage: The Case of Vietnam Firms

Chi Dieu Thi NGUYEN,Hong Thuy Thi DANG,Nghi Huu PHAN,Trang Thuy Thi NGUYEN 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11

The purpose of the study is to find the factors that influence the financial leverage of Vietnam firms. The dependent variable is the financial leverage and the independent variables are firm size, asset structure, liquidity, growth opportunities, profitability, and firm age. The data are collected from Vietnam firms’ annual financial reports in the period from 2010 to 2019. The study uses a sample of 448 Vietnam listed firms in the period. We also employ a panel regression model with pooled OLS and fixed effect to analyze the firms’ financial data. The results of the model showed that financial leverage (FL) has a negative relationship with some factors such as asset structure (AS), liquidity (LQ), growth opportunities (GRW), profitability (ROA), and firm age (AGE) in the fixed effect regression. It means that when liquidity, profitability, and firm age increase, firms’ financial leverage will decrease. While firms’ financial leverage has still a positive relationship with the firm size (SIZE) in the model. As a result, when firm size increases, financial leverage will increase, too. The results showed that models are fit for the research and can be used to predict future findings. It is also useful for enterprises, financial advisors, investors, as well as the financial managers.

Enhanced fluorescence properties of type-I and type-II CdTe/CdS quantum dots using porous silver membrane

        Thuy, Ung Thi Dieu,Chae, Weon-Sik,Yang, Won-Geun,Liem, Nguyen Quang North-Holland 2017 Optical materials Vol.66 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper reports the metal-induced fluorescence property on the CdTe/CdS core/shell quantum dots (QDs), which exhibit the systematic band-gap transition from type-I to type-II with increasing shell thickness, near porous silver membrane by using time-resolved fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). The results revealed that notable fluorescence enhancement came from the closed location to the cavity of the porous silver metal due to an increase in the local electromagnetic fields at the cavity. In the cases of the type-II CdTe/CdS QDs, interestingly, multiple exciton generation can be an additional factor for the lifetime reduction and fluorescence amplification compared to the type-I QDs. Without CdS shell, the strong interaction between the bare core CdTe QDs and silver caused emission quenching.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Luminescence enhancement up to 5- and 10-times for type-I and type-II CdTe/CdS QDs at local cavity region of <I>p</I>-Ag membranes. </LI> <LI> The luminescence enhancement in type-I CdTe/CdS QDs is due to the accelerated optical fields; while, that in type-II CdTe/CdS QDs is reasonably attributed to both the accelerated radiative recombination and the enhanced absorption mechanisms. </LI> <LI> The metal-induced absorption enhancement and plausible multiexciton generation in the type-I and type-II CdTe/CdS QDs make them very promising for optical signal amplification and solar energy conversion applications. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Polarization of Colloidal CdSe Quantum Dots

Nguyen Quang Liem,Le Quang Phuong,Ung Thi Dieu Thuy,Tran Thi Kim Chi,Do Xuan Thanh 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.53 No.3

The effects of the polarization of colloidal CdSe QDs on the optical transitions are discussed based on systematic studies of a colloidal CdSe-based QDs system as a function of the net QDs' polarity/polarization and of the solvent's polarity. The polarization of the QD/ligand complexes makes them water-soluble after appropriate cleaning processes. The polarization of the bare CdSe QDs is reasonably thought to originate from dangling bonds at the surfaces of the dots. Passivation of the Se dangling bond by hydrogen generated from ultraviolet irradiation of the CdSe QDs in water is clearly observed to cause a spectral blueshift and a photoluminescence enhancement.

Factors Affecting the Outsourcing of Accounting Activities in Small and Medium Transport Enterprises in Vietnam

DANG, Thuy Anh,HO, My Hanh,HO, Thi Dieu Anh,NGUYEN, Thi Thanh Hoa Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.10

In the current fast-growing market economy, the accounting-outsourcing trend of small and medium-sized enterprises is on the increase. Studies from both foreign and domestic sources have shown that many factors influence this decision. However, each country has different economic and political characteristics, so these factors and their degree of impact on accounting outsourcing also vary. This study aimed to determine the factors affecting the decision to outsource accounting activities of small and medium transport enterprises in Vietnam. A survey of 384 transport SMEs was conducted using the convenience sampling method. A personal interview with owners/managers/CFOs in 3 major cities of Vietnam based on a research review was conducted. The model examines the influence of many independent variables on accounting outsourcing. The multilinear regression analysis shows that the higher the Assets Specificity, the lower the degree of accounting outsourcing. In addition, the degree of outsourcing is positively and significantly related to frequency and trust in accountants. Besides, when we include control variables such as gender, administrative level, firm size, company age, education, and experience into the model. The results show that small and medium enterprises with limited resources should switch from the traditional internal accounting method to a professional accountant with external knowledge. Based on this study, the author proposes several implications for the accounting outsourcing of small and medium-sized transport enterprises in Vietnam to be more effective. Finally, this study also contributes to the basic knowledge of accounting outsourcing.

      • THE IMPACT OF GOVERNMENT OWNERSHIP ON DIVIDEND POLICY : CASE IN VIETNAM AND TAIWAN

Hang Thi Thuy Pham,Sung-Chang Jung,Hang Thi Dieu Nguyen 한국재무학회 2018 한국재무학회 학술대회 Vol.2018 No.05

In this paper, we examine the impact of government ownership on dividend policy in case of Viet Nam and Taiwan. We find a strong evidence that government ownership has a positive impact on dividend payout in both countries. Additionally, firms with government ownership tend to pay higher dividend than firms without government ownership. Our findings suggest that the impacts of government ownership on dividend policy in both countries can be explained by the substitute hypothesis of agency theory (La Porta, 2000). We also discover that firms with government ownership in both countries pay higher dividend than the firms without government ownership.
