Emergency Neuroendoscopic Management of Third Ventricular Neurocysticercosis Cyst Presented with Bruns Syndrome : Report of Two Cases and Review of Literature

        Teegala, Ramesh,Rajesh, K. Ghanta,Raviprasad, V. Yerramsetty,Chennappa, Yemba The Korean Neurosurgical Society 2014 Journal of Korean neurosurgical society Vol.55 No.3

Neurocysticercosis is the commonest parasitic disease of the human central nervous system. The incidence of intra ventricular form of neurocysticercosis (NCC) is less common accounting 10-20% that of total central nerve system cysticercosis. Intra ventricular NCC is complicated due, to its high incidence of acute hydrocephalus caused by ball valve mechanism. The only reliable tool for diagnosis of NCC is by neuroimaging with CT or MRI. MRI preferred over CT because of its high specificity and sensitivity. In emergency situations like acute hydrocephalus one can proceed with emergency endoscopic surgery. Through the endoscopic view, intra ventricular NCC (IVNCC) has distinguished morphological features like the full moon sign. This feature not only helps in identification of IVNCC, but also guides in further endoscopic treatment strategy. Authors report two cases of 3rd ventricular NCC with acute hydrocephalus managed with emergency endoscopy. Authors have discussed the clinical features, intra operative endoscopic findings and role of endoscopy in emergency surgery for NCC with acute hydrocephalus.

Economic Analysis of Power Transmission Lines using Interval Mathematics

Teegala, Srinivasa Kishore,Singal, Sunil Kumar The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2015 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.10 No.4

A major portion of the capital costs in the present day power transmission systems are due to the cost of equipment and construction process. Transmission utilities in the recent years are drawing greater attention towards performing life cycle costing studies for cost management and decision making. However, the data involved in these studies are highly uncertain and the effect of these uncertainties cannot be directly included in the study process, resulting in inaccurate solutions. Interval mathematics provides a method for including these uncertainties throughout the cost analysis and provides final solution range in the form of intervals. In this regard, it is essential and extremely important that significant research has to be carried out in understanding the principles of life cycle costing methodology and its applicability to cost analysis of transmission lines along with uncertainties involved in the cost assessment process. In this paper, economic analysis of power transmission lines using interval mathematics has been studied. Life cycle costing studies are performed using net present value analysis on a range transmission lines used in India and the results are analyzed. A cost break even analysis considering right of way costs was carried out to determine the point of economy indifference.

Constant and variable switching frequency random PWM strategies for open-end winding induction motor drive

Sadhu, Nithya Lavanya,Teegala, Bramhananda Reddy,Marapu, Vijay Kumar The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2020 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.20 No.6

High amounts of harmonics cause noise and electromagnetic interference to nearby systems. Pulsewidth modulation (PWM) techniques are used to reduce the amount of harmonics near the multiples of switching frequencies. To trim down the noise and electromagnetic interference and improve the quality of the output voltages, different types of constant and variable switching frequency random PWM techniques for dual inverter-fed open-end winding induction motor drive configuration are discussed in this study. Moreover, the vector control technique is used along with random PWM techniques to improve the transient response of the dual inverter.

Two-Stage Surgical Management of Multilevel Symptomatic Thoracic Haemangioma Using Ethanol and Iliac Crest Bone Graft

        Devanand Degulmadi,Venkatramana Brahmajoshyula,Shivanand Mayi,Suman Teegala 대한척추외과학회 2014 Asian Spine Journal Vol.8 No.4

This article presents a 56-year-old obese female who presented with back pain and progressive weakness in her lower limbs for three months. She was bed-ridden for one week before reporting to our hospital. Plain radiographs showed vertical striations in multiple vertebrae classical of haemangioma. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) spine revealed multiple thoracic and lumbar vertebral haemangiomas. Extra osseous extension of haemangioma at T12 was causing spinal cord compression. Two-stage surgery was performed with absolute alcohol (ethanol) injection followed by pedicle screw fixation and decompression with tricortical iliac crest bone graft into the vertebral body. Postoperatively rapid neurological improvement was seen. After three weeks, she could walk independently. One year later, computed tomography showed complete incorporation of bone graft and maintained vertebral body height. MRI showed complete resolution of the cord edema at T12. These findings indicated diminished vascularity of the tumor.
