Bendability of Aluminium- and Steel-Clad Chromium Plates

The present paper describes how the cladding of chromium plate with dissimilar metals improves the plastic bendability of the chromium. Three-point bending tests at various temperatures were performed for three types of chromium specimens: a monolithic chromium plate, aluminium- and steel-clad chromium plate. The aluminium-clad chromium plate was bent at 343 K up to a bent angle of 90 degrees without failure, even when the chromium layer was located outside of the plate (tension side), while the monolithic chromium plate could be bent exclusively at temperatures above 403 K. When the chromium layer was located inside of the steel-clad chromium plate (compression side), the plate was successfully bent at 307 K. The FE stress analysis of bending proved that the cladding of chromium plates with proper metals of different kinds is effective to reduce the tensile stress in chromium induced during bending and also the residual stress existing after bending operation.

본 논문에서는 하나의 급전선을 갖는 원형 섹터 마이크로스트립 안테나를 사용하여 서로 수직한 편파 특성을 갖는 이중주파수 안테나를 설계하였다. 여기되는 모드 및 주파수를 공진기 모델을 사용하여 계산하였으며, 반경과 섹터 각도를 파라미터로 하여 여기되는 두 주파수를 설계할 수 있었다. 약 2GHz 대역에서 동작하는 안테나를 제작하여 안테나의 특성을 측정하였다. 안테나의 반경을 고정하고 섹터 각도를 75$^{\circ}$에서 120$^{\circ}$까지 변화시켜, 여기되는 두 주파수의 비가 1.08에서 1.518까지 변하는 것을 볼 수 있었다.
Isolation Circuits Based on Metamaterial Transmission Lines for Multiplexers

Multiplexers based on isolation circuits made of metamaterial lines are proposed and studied. The new approach provides unique advantageous features beneficial to system designer. For instance, there is no need to modify the filters used in multiplexers. Also, the design process is straightforward. In this paper, two types of multiplexers based on metamaterial isolation circuits are presented, and their operation concepts are explained. Also, theories and design process of isolation circuits are presented to help readers design and fabricate proposed multiplexers. For verifying the concepts, two types of triplexers and two types of quadruplexers are designed and fabricated. All filters used in the multiplexers are commercial surface acoustic wave filters. The measured results are well matched with the simulation results.

<P> Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation in a phased-array system is considered for a non-Gaussian noise environment. In this paper, a robust <TEX>$M$</TEX>-estimation scheme based on Huber's loss function with an adaptive threshold is proposed. The method is evaluated using experimental data from the University of California, Los Angeles, 60-GHz antenna-array system. It is shown that the proposed method enables a decreased sensitivity of the DOA estimates with respect to noise components having heavy-tailed distributions. </P>
