The Need for Actions Against Polypharmacy in Older People With Frailty
Taro Kojima 대한노인병학회 2018 Annals of geriatric medicine and research Vol.22 No.3
Providing safe and effective drug therapy to older patients is challenging for physicians since there is not sufficient evidence to support the efficacy of these drugs and this population is susceptible to adverse drug reactions. Special consideration is needed when treating patients who require nursing care or who are at a stage prior to disability (i.e., frailty) because they may have limited life expectancies, complications, or organ dysfunction. Polypharmacy refers to the condition in which a patient is taking many drugs and, thus, is at an increased risk of adverse events. Although it is difficult to avoid polypharmacy in older people with frailty, the periodic review of drugs and reduction of dose or discontinuation of potentially inappropriate medications are needed to address this problem. This article reviews the association between frailty and polypharmacy and counteractions against polypharmacy in patients with frailty.
Preparation and identification of functional organic monolayers on Si wafer surfaces
Taro Yamada 한국물리학회 2006 Current Applied Physics Vol.6 No.1l
Monolayers of organic adsorbates formed on Si wafers are prospective materials for nanometer-scale fabrication, chemical function-terminated H:Si(111). In this report, the method of photo-assisted adsorption of allylamine (CH2@ CHCH2NH2) and 1-butene(CH2@ CHCH2CH3) onto H:Si(11) is described. The adsorbates were identied by high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopyand Auger electron spectroscopy. The functional group, NH2 in allylamine, was observed reserved in the adlayer. Mixed adlayers ofallylamine and 1-butene, which is practically favorable, were also prepared.
A Case of Muir-Torre Syndrome with Multiple Cancers of Bilateral Eyelids and Breast
Taro Kamisasanuki,Eisuke Uchino,Jun-ichi Fukushima,Hiroshi Yoshikawa,Tatsuro Ishibashi,Taiji Sakamoto 대한안과학회 2013 Korean Journal of Ophthalmology Vol.27 No.3
We report a case of Muir-Torre syndrome (MTS) with a very rare combination of cancers, involving bilateral eyelid cancers and breast cancer. A 71-year-old female with a history of breast cancer from 18 years prior presented with bilateral eyelid tumors. One of her siblings had lung cancer, and another had pancreatic cancer. She underwent excisional biopsy of the eyelid tumors and histopathology revealed sebaceous carcinoma of the right eyelid and basal cell carcinoma of the left. She was diagnosed with MTS: a skin cancer associated with visceral malignancy. Immunohistochemical tests for mutS homolog 2 showed a lack of expression in both eyelid carcinomas.

Linear automorphisms of smooth hypersurfaces giving Galois points
Taro Hayashi 대한수학회 2021 대한수학회보 Vol.58 No.3
Let $X$ be a smooth hypersurface $X$ of degree $d\geq4$ in a projective space $\mathbb P^{n+1}$. We consider a projection of $X$ from $p\in\mathbb P^{n+1}$ to a plane $H\cong\mathbb P^n$. This projection induces an extension of function fields $\mathbb C(X)/\mathbb C(\mathbb P^n)$. The point $p$ is called a Galois point if the extension is Galois. In this paper, we will give necessary and sufficient conditions for $X$ to have Galois points by using linear automorphisms.
