While the efficient usage of biomass waste can significantly help in addressing environmental issues,there are only a few reports that discuss about processing such waste effectively at a low-cost. Such challengearises from the strong association between the components biomass. In this study, an abundantagricultural byproduct, rice husk (RH), was used as the starting resource. A simple biorefining processof alkaline peroxide treatment followed by acid precipitation and ethanol extraction was performed onRH to obtain cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and silica. The chemical structures, morphologies, andphysic-chemical properties of the separated components were identified through a wide range of characterizationapproaches. The final products obtained from of this process were (i) bundles of fiber-likecellulose with a fiber width of 6 mm and (ii) small particles of hemicellulose and lignin with nonuniformshapes. The lignocelluloses products had over 90 wt% carbon with 52.28% crystalline ratio. Meanwhile, the other products comprising hemicelluloses, lignin, and silica were amorphous. The outcomeof this study contributes to expanding and developing the simple and efficient conversion processof biomass waste into sustainable value-added materials. It is crucial to reduce the environmental impactby using renewable materials as the new building block resources for synthetic chemicals.
Control of Active Suspension System by Using H$\infty$ Theory

This paper presents a control of active suspension for quarter car model with two degree of freedom by using H$\infty$ method. Absolute velocity of car body is measured for feedback. The system parameter variations are treated with multiplicative uncertainty model. Simulation results show that the H$\infty$ control provides good trade-off between ride quality, suspension packaging and road holding constraints. The experiment with a front wheel suspension system was done to verify the simulation results.
Robust Pole Assignment in a Specified Disk

This paper presents a method to assign robustly the closed loop system's poles in a specified disk by a state feedback for a linear time invariant system with structured or unstructured uncertainties. THe proposed robust design procedure includes two steps. Firstly, the perturbed closed loop matrix $A_{cl p}$ = $A_{cl}$ + Δ$A_{cl}$ is rearranged such that it is a function of the nominal closed loop matrix $A_{cl}$. Hence, we can control the positions of the perturbed closed loop poles by choosing $A_{cl}$ appropriately. Secondly, the feedback control law F that assigns the closed loop poles of the perturbed system in a specified disk is determined from the equation $A_{cl}$ = A + BF. A procedure for finding F is proposed based on partitioning every matrix of the equation $A_{cl}$ = A + BF in the horizontal direction.

This paper proposes a control strategy of the voltage compensation based on a nine switch converter (NSC) to enhance a low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) capability for a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) wind turbine system. The nine switch converter connected to a stator-side of the DFIG can enable to compensate the voltage response of the system during the grid faults. For series voltage source converter (VSC), a control algorithm consisting of dual voltage controllers is implemented for the two sequence components in the dq synchronous reference frame. As for shunt voltage source converter (VSC), a control algorithm is carried out in the dq reference frame and incorporates both an inner current control loop and an outer voltage control loop. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified by the simulation results for the 2 [MW]-DFIG wind turbine system under unbalanced grid voltage conditions.

Forest fires inflict great losses of human lives and serious damages to ecological systems. Hence, numerous fire detection methods have been proposed, one of which is fire detection based on sensors. However, these methods reveal several limitations when applied in large spaces like forests such as high cost, high level of false alarm, limited battery capacity, and other problems. In this research, we propose a novel forest fire detection method based on image processing and correlation coefficient. Firstly, two fire detection conditions are applied in RGB color space to distinguish between fire pixels and the background. Secondly, the image is converted from RGB to YCbCr color space with two fire detection conditions being applied in this color space. Finally, the correlation coefficient is used to distinguish between fires and objects with fire-like colors. Our proposed algorithm is tested and evaluated on eleven fire and non-fire videos collected from the internet and achieves up to 95.87% and 97.89% of F-score and accuracy respectively in performance evaluation.
Genetic diversity of spotted scat (Scatophagus argus) in Vietnam based on COI genes

A spotted scat, Scatophagus argus, has a high nutritional value and is among Asia’s most widely consumed fish species. Thua Thien Hue’s consumption market considers this species to be of high economic value and requires protection and conservation of the population. However, the studies on the identification and genetic diversity of S. argus distributed in Vietnam are still lacking. Therefore, mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene was utilized to distinguish different populations and investigate the genetic diversity of two populations of S. argus from Tam Giang lagoon, Thua Thien Hue province (n = 31) and Ca Mau province (n = 14). The sequencing results indicated 13 distinct haplotypes among 45 sequences. Five single nucleotide polymorphisms were observed to distinguish Hue spotted scat population. The S. argus population in Ca Mau province was higher haplotype diversity (Hd) and nucleotide diversity (π) than those of Thua Thien Hue province, which demonstrates that there are minor differences between haplotypes. There were genetic distances ranging from 0%–4% within the populations and 6.67% between the two populations. In addition to the sequencing, the comparison of morphology, biology, culture, and the growth rate was sufficient to distinguish the spotted scat S. argus in Thua Thien Hue from Ca Mau.
BONEcheck: A digital tool for personalized bone health assessment

Objectives: Osteoporotic fracture is a significant public health burden associated with increased mortality risk and substantial healthcare costs. Accurate and early identification of high-risk individuals and mitigation of their risks is a core part of the treatment and prevention of fractures. Here we introduce a digital tool called 'BONEcheck' for personalized assessment of bone health. Methods: The development of BONEcheck primarily utilized data from the prospective population-based Dubbo Osteoporosis Epidemiology Study and the Danish Nationwide Registry. BONEcheck has 3 modules: input data, risk estimates, and risk context. Input variables include age, gender, prior fracture, fall incidence, bone mineral density (BMD), comorbidities, and genetic variants associated with BMD. Results: Based on the input variables, BONEcheck estimates the probability of any fragility fracture and hip fracture within 5 years, subsequent fracture risk, skeletal age, and time to reach osteoporosis. The probability of fracture is shown in both numeric and human icon array formats. The risk is also contextualized within the framework of treatment and management options on Australian guidelines, with consideration given to the potential fracture risk reduction and survival benefits. Skeletal age was estimated as the sum of chronological age and years of life lost due to a fracture or exposure to risk factors that elevate mortality risk. Conclusions: BONEcheck is an innovative tool that empowers doctors and patients to engage in wellinformed discussions and make decisions based on the patient's risk profile. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a comprehensive and far-reaching impact on various fields, especially in the medical aspect. Additionally, many variants of this coronavirus have appeared due to mutation, each of which has distinguished influences. During the Covid-19 pandemic, medical equipment, especially ventilators, has seen a severe shortage. Thus, many studies of ventilators machine have been carried out around the world. And according to these studies, airflow control is one of the critical issues of ventilator machine research that saves human life. Understanding the above problem, it is necessary to conduct system modeling and obtain a model which has high linearity so that the parameters of the ventilation can be controlled to achieve better accuracy. This paper presents the model identification of a two double-acting piston pump system using experimental data. First order plus dead time method is applied to achieve the identification model. The data used for identification and validation are collected by conducting several practical tests on the two double-acting pistons pump system. The discussion on the identified model and future works are also included in this paper.
