A field study on self trap cropping system in controlling tukra mealy bug Maconellicoccus hirsutus Green) incidence on mulberry (Morus spp.; V-1 variety; $3'{\times}3'$ spacing) gardens was undertaken in selected sericulture farmers' mulberry gardens of Pydeti village (Parigi Mandal, Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh, India). The study was conducted for three years (2004, 2005 and 2006). Four treatments (T0; control/no treatment, T1; self trap cropping rows with 10 row interval, T2; self trap cropping rows with 10 row interval and treating these rows only with 0.5% neem oil emulsion and T3; self trap cropping rows with 10 rows intervals and treating all the mulberry rows including self trap cropping rows with 0.5% neem oil emulsion) were considered. The results indicated that the incidence increased in T0 and T1 while the same suppressed in T2 and T3. The suppression (%) of tukra incidence between T2 and T3 was not significant. Hence, T2 only was recommended to farmers as its economical viable practice. The results are discussed based on the importance of tukra, its suppression and cost of treatment.

For a connected graph G of order n ≥ 2, a set S of vertices of G is an open geodetic set of G if for each vertex v in G, either v is an extreme vertex of G and v ∈ S; or v is an internal vertex of an x-y geodesic for some x, y ∈ S. An open geodetic set of minimum cardinality is a minimum open geodetic set and this cardinality is the open geodetic number, og(G). An open geodetic set of cardinality og(G) is called a og-set of G. A subset T of an og-set S is called a forcing subset for S if S is the unique minimum open geodetic set containing T. A forcing subset for S of minimum cardinality is a minimum forcing subset of S and this cardinality is the forcing open geodetic number, fo(G). We determine bounds for fo(G) and determine the same for some standard graphs. Also, it is shown that for positive integers a, b with 0 ≤ a ≤ b−4and b ≥ 5, there exists a connected graph G such that fo(G) = a and og(G) = b.

Carbon fiber and its composites are increasingly used in many fields including defence, military, and allied industries. Also, surface quality is given due importance, as mating parts are used in machineries for their functioning. In this work, the turning process is considered for Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composites by varying three important cutting variables: cutting speed, feed, and depth of cut. Correspondingly, the surface roughness is measured after the completion of turning operation. As well, a prediction model is created using different fuzzy logic membership function and Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm (LMA) in artificial intelligence. Later, the surface roughness values from the developed models are compared against the experimental values for its correlation and effectiveness in using different membership functions of fuzzy logic and ANN. Thus, the experimental results are analyzed using the effect graphs and it is presented in detail.

The antimicrobial and antifungal effects of different concentrations of chloroform/methanol fractions of Sco-paria dulciswere investigated. The isolated fractions were tested against different bacteria like Salmonella typhii, Staphylo-coccus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Proteus vulgarisand fungal strains such asAlternaria macrospora, Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger, and Fusarium oxysporum. The isolated fractions exhibited sig-nificant antimicrobial and antifungal activity against all the tested organisms compared with respective reference drugs. Theisolated fractions of S. dulcisshowed properties like antimicrobial and antifungal activities that will enable researchers in turnto look for application-oriented principles.
