This study deals with the effect of the shot peening in SCM420H planetary gears. The hardness and roughness of the gear surface can be improved by shot blast and shot peening. there in, the shot peening techniques are welcomed especially as one of the physical surface improvement methods. The two treatments are used widely, because of the qualitative analysis of shot blast and shot peening has become possible and the surface treatment can be done with little costs compared with other surface improvement methods. Therefore, this study investigates the effects of shot blast and shot peening in surface shape. The fatigue strength test at a constant stress amplitude is performed by using an electrohydraulic serve-controlled pulsating tester. And fatigue test also explained characteristics of shot blast and shot peening of planetary gears.

Straight belvel gear is used mainly for steering system, final reduction and differential gear in the automobile. The more high load, high velocity driving bevel gear, the more unsafe and unpleasant. In thid study, we get a kinematic equation by modelling straight bevel gear pair with simple elastic system, the dynamic characteristic analysis about this system, we got the dynamic load factor of tooth surface. Comparing the value of dynamic load factor by calculation with the measured value of Terauchi's experimental results is similar. We think it useful to analysis the vibration and the noise of straight bevel gear in operation with the analytic method of dynamic load of straight bevel gear using in this study.

SCM415 alloy was implanted with nitrogen ions using plasma source ion implantation (PSII), at a dose range of $1{\times}10^{17}\;to\;6{\times}10^{17}N^{+}cm^{-2}$. Auger electron spectrometry (AES) was used to investigate the depth profile of the implanted layer. Friction and wear tests were carried out on a block-on-ring wear tester. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe the micro-morphology of the worn surface. The results revealed that after being implanted with nitrogen ions, the frictional coefficient of the surface layer decreased, and the wear resistance increased with the nitrogen dose. The tribological mechanism was mainly adhesive, and the adhesive wear tended to become weaker oxidative wear with the increase in the nitrogen dose. The effects were mainly attributed to the formation of a hard nitride precipitate and a supersaturated solid solution of nitrogen in the surface layer.
