This paper is presented that theoretical optimization design method in order to consider mass reduction for the structural safety. In this paper, it described methods for reducing vibration in structural safety by the determination of the optimum sizes and locations of running masses through formal mathematical optimization techniques. The optimization procedure which employs the tunning masses and corresponding locations is developed. Design variables are systematically changed to achieve low values of shear without a large mass penalty. Three optimazation methods are developed and tested. The first is based on minimizing the modal shaping parameter which indirectly reduce the modal shear amplitudes corresponding to each harmonic of airload. The second method reduces these amplitudes directly and the third method reduces the shear as a function of time during a revolution of the blade. The first method works well for reducing the shear for one mode responding to a single harmonic of the airload but has been found in some bases to be ineffective for more than one mode.

The most important criteria of quality of meshing and contact of gears are the low level of noise and the sufficient dimensions and location of the contact. A new approach for determination of machine-tool settings for spiral bevel gears is proposed. The proposed settings provide a function of transmission errors, the desired location and orientation of contact. The function is able to absorb piece-wise linear functions of transmission errors that are caused by the gear misalignment and to reduce the gear noise. The determination of pinion machine-tool settings is based on the local synthesis of gears. A computer program for simulation of meshing bearing contact and determination of transmission errors for misaligned has been developed.

In order to make the mechanism of rolling friction clear, a test apparatus by which the rolling friction between a roller and a plate could be measured accurately was arranged. In this paper, contact behaviors and decrement characteristics of the roller bearing are studied between the pair of linear way bearing and plate. The following results are obtained by using THK LR2565 linear way bearing. 1) The rolling friction force fp increases with the increments of surface roughness Ra and normal load P. The linear way bearing arrayed rollers are effected by damping characteristic on the lubricate condition. 2) Theoretical curves of the logarithmic decrement λ vs. rolling displacement x are a good agreement with experimental curves. The logarithmic decrement λ has maximum value at ξ>1 and decreases on the increment of the dimensionless variable G with damping characteristic. But on this experiment it showed a tendency of irregular characteristic by the collision of rollers. 3) Therefore dimensionless variable G is important element of rolling friction force and logarithmic decrement.

This is a study on the natural vibration characteristics of Vehicle frame. Nowadays, many trucks freight the over-load, do the car designers consider the over-load about 200% in the design. It's necessary to make the model of a vehicle and simulate it for the test of driving condition, durability and vibration behavior before the vehicle is manufactured. If it is possible to make a simulation using the static and dynamic analysis, this is very useful in accomplishing an optimal design of the vehicle. In this paper, we studied the vibration characteristics of a truck body frame. The automobile body frame model for experiment is made smaller than real size frame with the ratio of 1/10. The vibration characteristics of a frame is considered as one of main factors in analyzing and improving the problem for ride comfort, noise and vibration reduction. Therefore, we experimented two method to neglect the nonlinearity. First is bolting and second is welding at the joint section. We compared computer simulation results and experimental data.

This paper studies the effect of vibrational characteristics of the various tubes analyzed though experiment. By an experiment analysis we found out that the factor of system vibration is fluid-structure interaction of tube line. In fluid-filled tube system we study on the influence that the natural frequency of system and the frequency of wave motion produce upon through three experiments. Three experiments are modal test on each tube, FRF in continuous system, and vibrating tests when the system is driving on. From the results of the experimental studies, we obtained that the natural frequencies of system are very important than wave induced vibrations and according to the variation of configuration, the frequencies are different each other. And we found that though fluid passed away through the tube, the tendency of system vibration level was similar with the mode shape at the simple system

The high-voltage discharging filter was designed for the purification of exhaust gases in automobile. The filter was located on the exhaust line after the three-way catalyst and the front of muffler. The electric power of 160 W was applied with the voltage of 16 and 20 KV and the current of 10 and 8 mA, respectively. The experimental measurement on smoke density was performed by the implementation of the automobile named, "galloper", a product of Hyundai Motor Co. at the engine speed of 2000 rpm and brake on. The smoke opacity in optical absorption measurement was reduced from 1.5 to 0.6-1.0% by the operation of the discharge filter.
