Architectural Design of Terminal Operating System for a Container Terminal Based on a New Concept
Singgih, Ivan Kristianto,Jin, Xuefeng,Hong, Soondo,Kim, Kap Hwan Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers 2016 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.15 No.3
Automation ensures accurate and well-organized container transportation in container terminals. This paper addresses operational issues such as equipment scheduling and the coordination between various pieces of equipment in a rail-based automated container terminal. Containers are relayed using multiple types of equipment from road trucks to a vessel and vice versa. Therefore, handshaking is required during a container transfer between different pieces of equipment. Synchronization between the schedules of all the equipment is important to reduce equipment waiting times and the time required for transporting containers, which results in a short turnaround time for a vessel. This paper proposes an integrated control system with the objective of synchronizing the operations of different types of equipment, provides a list of decisions to be made by the control module of each type of equipment, and shows all the required information transfers between control modules. A scheme for the integrated scheduling of multiple types of equipment is proposed. The decisions made by each control module in a real-time fashion are listed with detailed explanations, and the information transfer between managers in a real-time situation at the proposed terminal is described.

Purpose: Previous research has found that organizational performance pressures and barriers have an effect on the long-term viability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Furthermore, MSMEs intellectual capital and strategic orientation, according to recent research findings, have an impact on this. The goal of this study is to see how intellectual capital and strategic orientation affect MSMEs performance. Research design, data and methodology: The performance of MSMEs is the dependent variable, with intellectual capital, market orientation, learning orientation, and technical orientation as independent factors. With a sample size of 113 respondents, this research focused on information technology-based MSMEs in Indonesia s Solo Raya area. Data was analyzed use Confirmatory Factor Analysis for the reliability test and path analysis SEM. Results: The interaction between intellectual capital and strategic orientation in respect to MSMEs performance reveals that innovation capability serves as a partial mediator in the relationship between intellectual capital and technical orientation and organization performance. Conclusions: In general, intellectual capital and strategic orientation have a positive substantial influence on innovation, according to the findings. Furthermore, they have a considerable favorable influence on the performance of MSMEs. It s just that intellectual capital has no discernible impact on knowledge sharing.

A design method of the network for automated transporters mounted on rails is addressed for automated container terminals. In the network design, the flow directions of some path segments as well as routes of transporters for each flow requirement must be determined, while the total transportation and waiting times are minimized. This study considers, for the design of the network, the waiting times of the transporters during the travel on path segments, intersections, transfer points below the quay crane (QC), and transfer points at the storage yard. An algorithm, which is the combination of a modified Dijkstra's algorithm for finding the shortest time path and a queuing theory for calculating the waiting times during the travel, is proposed. The proposed algorithm can solve the problem in a short time, which can be used in practice. Numerical experiments showed that the proposed algorithm gives solutions better than several simple rules. It was also shown that the proposed algorithm provides satisfactory solutions in a reasonable time with only average 7.22% gap in its travel time from those by a genetic algorithm which needs too long computational time. The performance of the algorithm is tested and analyzed for various parameters.
Empowerment Model for Sustainable Tourism Village in an Emerging Country
PURNOMO, Singgih,RAHAYU, Endang Siti,RIANI, Asri Laksmi,SUMINAH, Suminah,UDIN, Udin Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.2
This study aims to examine the community empowerment model to develop sustainable tourism villages in Indonesia. This study applies a qualitative method. Data collection is conducted through interviews, observations, and focus group discussions held in Ponggok Village of Central Java Province - Indonesia. The results of this study found that the tourism development carried out in the Ponggok Village used four approaches (1) spatial approach as a basis in determining the direction of village development; (2) sectoral approach through increasing the role of the Village Owned Enterprises to build the village economy; (3) human resources to enhance the role of village communities in managing village potentials; and (4) use of information technology to improve service quality, transparency and accountability. The success of these four approaches is influenced by the leadership, innovation, collaboration, and good village governance. The success of the Ponggok village to become an independent village in improving the welfare of the community is inseparable from the success of the Ponggok village government in empowering the community to manage sustainable tourism development. The success of development with these four approaches is influenced by leadership, innovation, collaboration, and good governance.

Flexible Load Sequencing in Container Terminals
Ivan Kristianto Singgih(싱기 이반 크리스티안토),Kap Hwan Kim(김갑환) 한국SCM학회 2016 한국SCM학회지 Vol.16 No.2
In this study, a method for estimating the quay crane (QC) operational time is used to determine the best loading sequence for containers. Detail parameters such as the distances to be traveled by the QC spreader in the horizontal and vertical axes, acceleration and deceleration rates, maximum speed of the spreader and hoist are considered. The objectives of this study include minimizing the total QC operational time and the number of relocations that occur in the yard during the container retrieval process. A tree search-based algorithm is used to find the best loading sequence. Numerical experiments are performed to find the acceptable width of the tree search, analyze the effect of each objective’s weight settings, and evaluate the proposed approach.
