Antennal and ovipositor sensilla of Pseudoligosita yasumatsui (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae)
Sian-Sang Wong,Peter Aun-Chuan Ooi,Wey-Lim Wong 한국응용곤충학회 2019 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.22 No.1
Pseudoligosita yasumatsui Viggiani and Subba Rao 1978 (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) is a common egg parasitoid of rice insect pests. The surface morphology of the antenna and ovipositor on P. yasumatsui was examined using scanning electron microscopy. The antenna of P. yasumatsui is geniculate in shape, hinged at the scape-pedicel joint, approximately 190 μm in length and consists of seven antennomeres. In total, the male and female antennae have ten different types of sensilla: trichoid sensilla type 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, campaniform sensilla, basiconic sensilla, and placoid sensilla type 1 and 2. The flagellum of the female antenna is covered with cuticular pores, which are absent on the male antennal flagellum. The distal extremity of its ovipositor stylet has campaniform sensilla and styloconic sensilla. Trichoid sensilla found on its apical abdomen part may play a role in the host detection and egg placement. The types and distribution of antennal and ovipositor sensilla on the parasitoid were discussed.

An improved protocol on the synthesis of thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidine-6-carboxylate derivatives are reported. Previously, the thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidine-6-carboxylate derivatives were prepared in a two-step procedure. Under the improved procedure, the thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidine-6-carboxylate derivatives was readily prepared in a one-step reaction. This procedure was found to be more efficient than the previous protocol and also compared to the ultrasound bath and conventional heating methods in terms of yield and reaction time.
Sexual dimorphism of antennal and ovipositor sensilla of Tetrastichus sp. (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae)
Wong Sian-Sang,Tee Chong-Siang,Ooi Peter Aun-Chuan,Wong Wey-Lim 한국응용곤충학회 2021 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.24 No.4
Tetrastichus sp. (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) is a primary parasitoid of the Metisa plana (Lepidoptera: Psychidae), an oil palm bagworm. The sensilla on the surface of the antenna and ovipositor of Tetrastichus sp. were examined using a scanning electron microscope. The antennae of both male and female Tetrastichus sp. are geniculate in shape and hinged at the scape-pedicel joint. The female antenna is about 200 µm longer than the male antenna. However, the male antenna has an additional flagellomere compared to the female antenna. In total, eight different types of antennal sensilla were observed on the antenna of Tetrastichus sp.: trichoid sensilla type 1, 2, 3, 4, placoid sensilla type 1 and 2, basiconic sensilla, and campaniform sensilla. The antenna of the female Tet rastichus sp. lacks placoid sensilla type 2 and campaniform sensilla. The distribution and abundance of the antennal sensilla were compared between the male and female Tetrastichus sp. and discussed. On the ovipositor stylet of Tetrastichus sp., coeloconic sensilla, styloconic sensilla and campaniform sensilla were observed. Tri choid sensilla were observed at the medial part of the distal extremity of the ovipositor.

Endoscopic Ultrasound-Based Evaluation of Pancreatic Cysts: New Invasive Modalities
Chieh Sian Koo,Khek-Yu Ho 대한췌장담도학회 2022 대한췌담도학회지 Vol.27 No.4
Pancreatic cysts are a heterogenous group of lesions that can be differentiated into mucinous and non-mucinous cysts based on their malignant potential. Crosssectional imaging alone is inadequate to reliably distinguish between the two groups. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and fine needle aspiration has been used for analysis of the cyst morphology and cyst fluid. Traditional markers such as fluid carcinoembryonic antigen and cytology have been useful particularly for the assessment of indeterminate cysts or those with high-risk features, but the overall diagnostic accuracy is still sub-par. As a result, new techniques have been described to improve the ability of EUS to risk stratify a pancreatic cyst. In this review, we describe some of the novel EUS‑based techniques in the evaluation of pancreatic cysts, namely needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy, through the needle cystoscopy, and through the needle biopsy techniques.

Objective: To evaluate factors associated with neonatal morbidity and mortality in pregnant women with preterm prelabor rupture of membranes (PPROM) after cervical cerclage. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies with cervical insufficiency at a tertiary referral center in Taiwan from 2000 to 2017. Patients included were those who suffered from PPROM after cerclage and delivered between 20 weeks 0 days and 36 weeks 6 days. Logistic and linear regression analyses were performed to evaluate various risk factors. Results: Overall, 109 women were included. Mothers with a higher white blood cell count, a higher C-reactive protein (CRP) level, a lower amniotic fluid index, and chorioamnionitis were significantly associated with neonatal morbidity. Neonatal mortality was related to oligohydramnios (adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 2.98, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.11 to 8.01) and chorioamnionitis (aOR = 3.17, 95% CI = 1.03 to 9.69). An elevated CRP level was associated with a shorter PPROM to delivery latency (adjusted B = -16.64, 95% CI = -29.88 to -3.41), but cerclage retention >12 hours after PPROM was associated with a prolonged latency (adjusted B= 17.21, 95% CI = 3.25 to 31.18). Conclusions: Oligohydramnios and chorioamnionitis are associated with neonatal mortality.
