The principles of poisonous mushrooms, their unexpected utilitie
Shirahama Hirushisa 한국자원식물학회 1999 한국자원식물학회 학술심포지엄 Vol.1999 No.-
Many mushrooms of toadstool were collected all over the Korea from March 1976 to September 1999. They were identified and classified into anti-cancer mushrooms of toadstool. According to the result they were composed of 12 families, 19 genera and 32 species. Among them, 26 species of mushroom of toadstool is experimented about how their anticancer function works in China. But untill now, there has not been any other studies for medcinal function in Korea.
Conversion of stability observed in Van der Pol oscillator by unstable time-delayed controller
Hiroyuki Shirahama,Chol-Ung Choe,Kazuhiro Fukushima 대한전자공학회 2008 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2008 No.7
We have demonstrated that an unstable time-delayed controller can provide a tool to control the stability of Hopf bifurcation. The unstable time-delayed controller has used to stabilize an unstable periodic orbit operating in subcritical mode. By developing a new coupling method the unstable timedelayed system was improved to be applied for conversion of stability in Hopf bifurcation system. In this study, as an example, conversion of stability of Van der Pol oscillator has been confirmed both experimentally and numerically. The control method would control various oscillations of systems arising from Hopf bifurcation.
The principles of posionous mushrooms, their unexpected utilitie
Hirushisa Shirahama 한국자원식물학회 2000 Plant Resources Vol.3 No.1
Lampteromyces japonicus is the most popular source of mushroom poisoning in Japan. We isolated poisonous substance, illudin S, 40 years ago, which shower strong anti-tumoric activity. Its analogs are now the most hopeful anti-cancer agent. Clitocybe acromelalgia gives unique poisoning which exhibits symptoms similar to acromelalgia and erythromelalgia. We intended to isolate the toxin causing these poisoning but neuroexciatory compounds, acromelic acids A and B, were isolated. They are now known as the most potent glutamate agonists and good reagents for the study of the glutamate receptor of a neurocell.
A Novel Topic Extraction Method based on Bursts in Videos Streams
Kimiaki Shirahama,Kuniaki Uehara 보안공학연구지원센터 2008 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.1 No.3
In this paper, we introduce a novel method for extracting “topics” as interesting events in a video. Here, we define the interestingness of an event by the anomaly of a target character’s appearance and disappearance pattern. As examples of abnormal patterns, shot durations in thrilling events are very short while shot durations in romantic events are very long. In contrast, as an example of non-abnormal pattern, conversation events are presented by the pattern, where the target character repeatedly appears in one shot and then another character appears in the next shot. From the above point of view, our topic extraction method aims to detect the following two types of abnormal patterns, called “bursts”. The first type of burst is a pattern where the target character appears in shots with very short durations, while the second is a pattern where he/she appears in shots with very long durations. To detect such bursts, we firstly divide the video into events characterized by specific patterns of the target character’s ppearance and disappearance. We locate these patterns in the video by using time series segmentation technique. Then, we extract topics by examining whether the pattern in each event can be regarded as a burst or not. Experiments on different videos validate that a character's ppearance and disappearance patterns are effective for obtaining semantically meaningful events. And, bursts are useful for extracting many interesting topics.
Simultaneous investigation of shear modulus and torsional resonance of solidHe4
Shin, Jaeho,Choi, Jaewon,Shirahama, Keiya,Kim, Eunseong American Physical Society 2016 Physical Review B Vol.93 No.21
<P>We investigate the origin of a resonant period drop of a torsional oscillator (TO) containing solid He-4 by inspecting its relation to a change in elastic modulus. To understand this relationship directly, we measure both phenomena simultaneously using a TO with a pair of concentric piezoelectric transducers inserted in its annulus. We confirm experimentally that both anomalies are directly related. Although the temperature, He-3 concentration, and frequency dependence are essentially the same, a marked discrepancy in the drive amplitude dependence is observed. We find that this discrepancy originates from the anisotropic response of polycrystalline solid He-4 connected with low-angle grain boundaries by studying the shear modulus parallel to and perpendicular to the driving direction.</P>
