        Hot Deformation Characteristics and Processing Map Analysis of Pre-Forged AZ80 Magnesium Alloy

        The hot deformation behavior of pre-forged AZ80 magnesium alloy is investigated by the isothermal compression tests attemperatures of 523–683 K and strain rates of 0.0001–0.1 s−1, and analyzed by the processing maps for guiding isothermaldie forging. Flow localization and even cracking occurs at low temperatures and high strain rates, where shear deformationdegree shows a positive correlation with the ��( ̇�� ) value. Two stability regions with high efficiency is found out by theprocessing maps. At common stability region with high temperatures and low strain rates, peak power dissipation efficiencydoes not represent optimum deformation condition as reported in other materials. A Z parameter criterion is introduced forparameters optimization. javascript:void(0); a new stability domain of 523–590 K and 0.0001–0.01 s−1 is observed, which istypical for fine microstructure composed of equiaxed clean α-Mg grains and big particles both about 1 μm (573 K/0.01 s−1).Super plasticity is speculated to occur at that condition.

        Deep Learning in Drebin: Android malware Image Texture Median Filter Analysis and Detection

        This paper proposes an Image Texture Median Filter (ITMF) to analyze and detect Android malware on Drebin datasetsMedian Filter (MF) to reflect the similarity of the malware binary file block. At the same time, using the MAEVS (Malware Activity Embedding in Vector Space) to reflect the potential dynamic activity of malware. In order to ensure the improvement of the classification accuracy, the above-mentioned features(ITMF feature and MAEVS feature)are studied to train Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) and Back Propagation (BP). The experimental results show that the model has an average accuracy rate of 95.43% 1. We design a model of “ITMF” combined with Image Processing of with few false alarms. to Android malicious code, which is significantly higher than 95.2% of without ITMF, 93.8% of shallow machine learning model SVM, 94.8% of KNN, 94.6% of ANN.

      • Autophagy Inhibition Promotes Gambogic Acid-induced Suppression of Growth and Apoptosis in Glioblastoma Cells

        Objective: To investigate the effects of gambogic acid (GA) on the growth of human malignant glioma cells. Methods: U251MG and U87MG human glioma cell lines were treated with GA and growth and proliferation were investigated by MTT and colony formation assays. Cell apoptosis was analyzed by annexin V FITC/PI flow cytometry, mitochondrial membrane potential assays and DAPI nuclear staining. Monodansylcadaverine (MDC) staining and GFP-LC3 localisation were used to detect autophagy. Western blotting was used to investigate the molecular changes that occurred in the course of GA treatment. Results: GA treatment significantly suppressed cell proliferation and colony formation, induced apoptosis in U251 and U87MG glioblastoma cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner. GA treatment also lead to the accumulation of monodansylcadaverine (MDC) in autophagic vacuoles, upregulated expressions of Atg5, Beclin 1 and LC3-II, and the increase of punctate fluorescent signals in glioblastoma cells pre-transfected with GFP-tagged LC3 plasmid. After the combination treatment of autophagy inhitors and GA, GA mediated growth inhibition and apoptotic cell death was further potentiated. Conclusion: Our results suggested that autophagic responses play roles as a self-protective mechanism in GA-treated glioblastoma cells, and autophagy inhibition could be a novel adjunctive strategy for enhancing chemotherapeutic effect of GA as an anti-malignant glioma agent.

      • Polymorphisms in DNA Repair Genes and Risk of Glioma and Meningioma

        Polymorphisms in DNA repair genes have been shown to influence DNA repair processes and to modify cancer susceptibility. Here we conducted a case-control study to assess the role of potential SNPs of DNA repair genes on the risk of glioma and meningioma. We included 297 cases and 458 cancer-free controls. Genotyping of XRCC1 Gln399Arg, XRCC1 Arg194Trp, XRCC2 Arg188His, XRCC3 Thr241Met, XRCC4 Ala247Ser, ERCC1 Asn118Asp, ERCC2 Lys751Gln and ERCC5 Asp1558His were performed in a 384-well plate format on the Sequenom MassARRAY platform. XRCC1 Arg194Trp (rs1799782) and ERCC2 Asp312Asn rs1799793 did not follow the HWE in control group, and genotype distributions of XRCC1 Gln399Arg rs25487, XRCC2 Arg188His rs3218536 and ERCC2 Asp312Asn rs1799793 were significantly different between cases and controls (P<0.05). We found XRCC1 399G/G, XRCC1 194 T/T and XRCC3 241T/T were associated with a higher risk when compared with the wild-type genotype. For ERCC5 Asp1558His, we found G/G genotype was associated with elevated susceptibility. In conclusion, our study has shown that XRCC1 Gln399Arg, XRCC1 Arg194Trp, XRCC3 Thr241Met and ERCC5 Asp1558His are associated with risk of gliomas and meningiomas. This finding could be useful in identifying the susceptibility genes for these cancers.

        Gestalt 시지각 법칙을 통해 분석한 모바일 UI디자인 연구 -삼성·애플 모바일 폰을 중심으로-

        본 연구의 목적은 게슈탈트 관점에서 모바일 UI디자인의 객관적 평가 기준을 마련하고, 게슈탈트 시지각심리 법칙을 활용하여 실제 사용되는 대표적인 모바일 UI디자인 간의 유사성과 특징을 분석하고 평가하는 데 있다. 만약, 제품 제작 전에 시지각과 관련된 인간 심리를 충분히 반영하여 제품을 설계해 나간다면 UI디자인 개발에 많은 도움을 줄 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구의 범위는 대표적인 모바일 기업인 삼성의 ONE와 애플의 iOS 모바일 UI디자인 및 게슈탈트 시지각 구성요소로 한정하였다. 주요한 연구내용은 다음과 같다. 대표적인 시지각 심리학 이론인 게슈탈트 법칙과 시각디자인의 기본요소를 접목하여 평가지표를 작성하였다. 구체적으로는 ‘아이콘’, ‘메인화면’, ‘멀티태스킹’, ‘퀵패널’ 네 부분으로 분류하고, 대표적 게슈탈트 법칙인 ‘대칭성’, ‘연속성’, ‘완결성’, ‘근접성’, ‘유사성’ 다섯 가지의 원칙에 적용하여 그 특징을 살피고 UI디자인의 원칙인 ‘직관성’, ‘일관성’, ‘효율성’과 접목하여 분석을 구체화하였다. 연구 결과 모바일 UI디자인에 있어서 게슈탈트 법칙에 기반한 시지각적 특성을 활용하여 디자인 할 때, 사용자가 정보에 대한 이해와 기능에 대한 접근효율을 높일 수 있다는 사실을 발견하였다. UI디자인은 디자이너의 시각에서가 아니라 이용자가 바라보는 시각에서 설계되어야 한다. 그러한 관점에서 대표적인 두 기업의 모바일 UI디자인은 게슈탈트 법칙들이 잘 활용되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. The purpose of this research is to establish objective evaluation criteria for mobile UI design from the Gestalt point of view and analyze and evaluate similarities and characteristics between representative mobile UI designs used in practice by utilizing Gestalt visual perception psychology law. If the product is designed to fully reflect the human psychology related to visual perception before the production of the product, it is expected to help the development of UI design. The scope of this study was limited to the components of the visual perception of Samsung’s ONE and Apple’s iOS Mobile UI Design and Gestalt, both of which are representative mobile companies. The main research points are as follows. Assessment indicators were drawn up by combining the basic elements of visual design with the law of Gestalt, a representative theory of visual perception psychology. Specifically, it categorized Icon, Main Screen, Multitasking, Quick Panel, and applied the five main principles of Gestalt: ‘Detention’, ‘Perfect’, ‘Close’, and ‘Similarity’ to examine the characteristics and applied the detailed analysis of the principles of UI design, ‘intuitive’, ‘uniformity’, and ‘efficiency’. Research has found that users can increase their understanding of information and access to functions when designing using visual perceptual characteristics based on the law of Gestalt in mobile UI design. UI design should be designed from the perspective of the user, not from the perspective of the designer. From that point of view, the two flagship companies’ Mobile UI design was able to confirm that the laws of Gestalt were well utilized.

        Expression and Regulation of Transcription Factor FoxA2 in Chronic Rhinosinusitis With and Without Nasal Polyps

        Purpose: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is characterized by the excessive production of mucus. However, the molecular mechanism underlying mucin overproduction in CRS with or without nasal polyps (CRSwNP and CRSsNP, respectively) is poorly understood. This study was conducted to assess the importance of the transcription factor FoxA2 in mucin production and to investigate the targeting of FoxA2 as a potential therapeutic strategy for mucus hypersecretion in CRS patients. Methods: We enrolled 15 CRSwNP patients, 15 CRSsNP patients, and 10 normal controls in this study. The expression levels of FoxA2, MUC5AC, and MUC5B in inflamed and healthy nasal tissues were examined via immunohistochemistry and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, and the levels of several proinflammatory cytokines in nasal secretions were measured via FlowCytomix analysis. In addition, the expression of MUC5AC and FoxA2 was determined in polyp-derived epithelial cells and NCI-H292 cells after in vitro stimulation. Results: FoxA2 was significantly down-regulated, and MUC5AC and MUC5B were significantly up-regulated in both the CRSwNP and CRSsNP patients compared to the controls (P<0.05), and the protein level of FoxA2 was negatively associated with the IL-6 level in the CRS patients (P<0.05). IL-6 significantly increased MUC5AC expression but inhibited FoxA2 expression in vitro (P<0.05). Transfection with a FoxA2 expression plasmid significantly decreased MUC5AC promoter activity (P<0.05) and inhibited IL-6-induced MUC5AC production (P<0.05). In addition, clarithromycin significantly alleviated IL-6-induced FoxA2 suppression and decreased MUC5AC expression in vitro (P<0.05). Conclusions: Our findings suggest that FoxA2 may be considered a therapeutic target for the modulation of mucus hypersecretion in CRS patients.

      • Kinetic Methods for CFD - A Multiscale Approach

        Traditionally, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is based on direct discretizations of the Navier-Stokes equations. This traditional approach of CFD is now being challenged as new multi-scale and multi-physics problems have begun to emerge in many fields ? in nanoscale systems, the scale separation assumption does not hold; macroscopic theory is therefore inadequate, yet microscopic theory may be impractical because it requires computational capabilities far beyond our present reach. Methods based on mesoscopic theories, which connect the microscopic and macroscopic descriptions of the dynamics, provide a promising approach. Besides their connection to microscopic physics, kinetic methods also have certain numerical advantages due to the linearity of the advection term in the Boltzmann equation. We will discuss two mesoscopic methods: the lattice Boltzmann equation and the gas-kinetic scheme, their mathematical theory and their applications to simulate various complex flows. Examples include incompressible homogeneous isotropic turbulence and shock structures in monoatomic gas.

      • Induction of Apoptosis in Human Leukemic Cell Lines by Diallyl Disulfide via Modulation of EGFR/ERK/PKM2 Signaling Pathways

        Background: Diallyl disulfide (DADS) may exert potent anticancer action both in vitro and in vivo. Although its effects on cancer are significant, the underlying mechanisms remain unknown. In this study, we sought to elucidate possible links between DADS and pyruvate kinase (PKM2). Materials and Methods: $KG1{\alpha}$, a leukemia cell line highly expressing PKM2 was used with a cell counting kit (CCK)-8 and flow cytometry (FCM) to investigate the effects of DADS. Relationships between PKM2 and DADS associated with phosphorylation of EGFR, ERK1/2 and MEK, were assessed by western blot analysis. Results: In $KG1{\alpha}$ cells highly expressing PKM2, we found that DADS could affect proliferation, apoptosis and EGFR/ERK/PKM2 signaling pathways, abrogating EGF-induced nuclear accumulation of PKM2. Conclusions: These results suggested that DADS suppressed the proliferation of $KG1{\alpha}$ cells, providing evidence that its proapoptotic effects are mediated through the inhibition of EGFR/ERK/PKM2 signaling pathways.

        Mapping QTL for ratooning ability in advanced backcross lines from an Oryza sativa x O. rufipogon cross

        Ratooning ability is one of the major different traits from perennial to cultivated rice and annual type. We developed a set of 126 introgression lines derived from a cross between Hwayeong and W1944 (O. rufipogon) to gain an insight into the genetic factors underlying differences between common wild rice and cultivated rice. One IL, CR6 among the 126 ILs of BC₃F₄ showed a significant difference in rationing ability compared with Hwayeong. To further characterize the rationing ability, CR6 was selected and crossed to Hwayeong to produce three secondary populations, BC₄F₂, BC₄F3 and BC?F₂. In the Hwayeong background, the W1944 allele was associated with an increase in rationing ability. QTL analysis showed that the qRAT5 for rationing ability was linked to RM194 (R²=6.6%, 19.6%, and 44.5% in the BC₄F₂, BC?F₂, and BC?F3, respectively). The putative qRAT5 was also tightly linked to QTLs for spikelets per panicle and grain weight indicating that this region harbors a QTL cluster related to domestication. To our knowledge, this is the first report to map the major QTL for ratooning ability in rice. The SSR markers linked to qRAT5 would be useful in marker-assisted selection for breeding lines with enhanced ratooning ability.

      • DNA Island Formation on Binary Block Copolymer Vesicles

        <P>Here, we report DNA-induced polymer segregation and DNA island formation in binary block copolymer assemblies. A DNA diblock copolymer of polymethyl acrylateblock-DNA (PMA-b-DNA) and a triblock copolymer of poly(butadiene)-block-poly(ethylene oxide)-block-DNA (PBD-b-PEO-b-DNA) were synthesized, and each was coassembled with a prototypical amphiphilic polymer of poly(butadiene)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) (PBD-b-PEO). The binary self-assembly of PMA-b-DNA and PBD-b-PEO resulted in giant polymersomes with DNA uniformly distributed in the hydrophilic PEO shell. When giant polymersomes were connected through specific DNA interactions, DNA block copolymers migrated to the junction area, forming DNA islands within polymersomes. These results indicate that DNA hybridization can induce effective lateral polymer segregation in mixed polymer assemblies. The polymer segregation and local DNA enrichment have important implications in DNA melting properties, as mixed block copolymer assemblies with low DNA block copolymer contents can still exhibit useful DNA melting properties that are characteristic of DNA nanostructures with high DNA density.</P>
