Anti-invasive and Anti-metastatic Effects of Arg-asp (Rd) on Human Salivary Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma

Li, Fenghe,Yu, Guangyan,Li, Shenglin,Peng, Shiqi,Fu, Jia,Wu, Dengcheng Korean Academy of Oral Biology and the UCLA Dental 2001 International Journal of Oral Biology Vol.26 No.3

The objective of the present study is to test the anti-invasive and anti-metastatic effect of Arg-Asp (RD), a newly developed peptide with the same effect as that of RGD, on SACC-LM (a highly pulmonary metastatic salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma cell line) cells. The ability of SACC-LM cells to invade in a modified Boyden chamber was inhibited by 56%, 64% and 65% when the final concentration of RD was 1, 5, and 25㎍/ml, respectively. The anti-metastatic effect of orally administered RD on experimental metastatic SACC-LM was observed by the survival rate and the number of pulmonary metastatic foci/mouse. When RD (7.5, 30, and 120mg/kg) was administered orally the survival rate increased in the treated mice 66.14(14.47), 64.75(8.43), 69.86(12.77) days, respectively, compared with 43.56 (4.95) days in the control mice (p<0.05). The number of pulmonary metastatic foci decreased significantly (6.5 Vs 20.29, p<0.05) for 120mg/kg RD, whereas the incidence of pulmonary metastasis was not significantly decreased at lower doses of RD. The results of this study suggest that RD has low toxicity and possesses an anti-invasive and anti-metastatic effect on SACC-LM and that RD may be administered orally.

      • Research on MR-Tree Spatial Query Authenticated Index Introduced Neighbor Relationship

        Xiaofu Wei,Shenglin Li,Zuofei Tan,Kaiwen Luo,San Zhang 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.9 No.10

In database outsourcing, the data owner delegates the tasks of data management to a third-party service provider. As the service provider may be untrusted or susceptible to attacks, query authentication is an essential part. Merkle R-tree (MR-tree) is one of the most efficient authenticated index that combines Merkle hash tree with R*-tree. MR-tree can provide an efficient range query authentication, however, as it uses the traditional R*-tree query structure in neighbor queries, a large number of unnecessary nodes may be accessed, and that can affect the efficiency of the query. In this paper, the neighbor relationship is introduced into the construction of MR-tree, and we propose a new index structure, called VMR-tree that incorporates the Voronoi diagram into MR-tree. In order to utilize VMR-tree index structure, we propose algorithms for spatial nearest neighbor queries and experiments to verify it has a better efficiency in spatial neighbor query authentication.

      • Multivariate Statistical Kernel PCA for Nonlinear Process Fault Diagnosis in Military Barracks

        Kaiwen Luo,Shenglin Li,Ren Deng,Wei Zhong,Hui Cai 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.1

Because of the nonlinear characteristics of monitoring system in military barracks, the traditional KPCA method either have low sensitivity or unable to detect the fault quickly and accurately. In order to make use of higher-order statistics to get more useful information and meet the requirements of real-time fault diagnosis and sensitivity, a new method of fault detection and diagnosis is proposed based on multivariate statistical kernel principal component analysis (MSKPCA), which combines statistic pattern analysis framework (SPA) and kernel principal component analysis (KPCA). First, the transformation of multivariate statistics and kernel function are conducted in which technology of moving time window is used. Then, PCA is executed to analysis the kernel function obtained from the first step. Moreover, the statistics of T^2 and SPE and the control limits of them are calculated. Finally, simulations on a typical nonlinear numerical example show that the proposed MSKPCA method is more effective than PCA and KPCA in terms of fault detection and diagnosis.

Design of Dynamic Calf Weighing System Based on Moving-IIR Filter Algorithm

        Meng Hewei,Luo Jinjun,Li Shenglin,Qi Jiangtao,Wenwen Zhao,Li Yaping 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.2

In order to solve the problems of high intensity, low collecting effi ciency, poor information real-time performance and low precision in the calf weighing process, a kind of dynamic calf weighing system was designed. It was based on moving-IIR by establishing a test platform to verify fi lter algorithm. The software MATLAB was applied to design the moving average fi lter algorithm, IIR fi lter algorithm and moving-IIR fi lter algorithm, respectively, to process and analyze the dynamic data collected in slow, violent and slow-violent states of calves. Test results showed that, the error rates of moving-IIR fi lter algorithm in slow, violent and slow-violent states of calves were within 1.12%, 0.32% and 2.82%, which were lower than that of moving-average fi lter algorithm and IIR fi lter algorithm. In slow state of calves, the moving-IIR fi lter was not very smooth. In violent and slow-violent states of calves, the standard deviations were within 1.1126 and 1.1520, showing signifi cant smoothness. The study showed that, information collection system based on moving-IIR fi lter algorithm has fully taken the stability of moving fi lter and dynamic nature of IIR fi lter into consideration and had advantages of low error rate and high stability. Therefore, it can realize real time precise collection, display, storage and historical data query of weight information.

A Tumor-Specific Tissue-Penetrating Peptide Enhances the Efficacy of Chemotherapy Drugs in Gastric Cancer

        Zhian Jin,Pujie Wang,Jie Chen,Li He,Lijia Xiao,Kaisen Yong,Shenglin Deng,Lin Zhou 연세대학교의과대학 2018 Yonsei medical journal Vol.59 No.5

Purpose: C-end rule (CendR) peptides are found to enhance the penetration of chemotherapeutic agents into tumor cells, whileGX1 is a peptide that homes to gastric cancer (GC) vasculature. This study aimed to synthesize a novel peptide GX1-RPAKPAR(GXC) and to explore the effect of GXC on sensitizing GC cells to chemotherapeutic agents. Materials and Methods: Intracellular Adriamycin concentration analysis was applied to conform whether GXC peptide increasesthe penetration of chemotherapeutic agents into GC cells in vitro. The effect of GXC peptide on sensitizing GC cells to chemotherapeuticswas validated by apoptosis assay and in vitro/vivo drug sensitivity assay. The specificity of GXC to GC tissue was validatedby ex vivo fluorescence imaging. Results: In vitro, administration of GXC significantly increased Adriamycin concentrations inside SGC-7901 cells, and enhancedthe efficacy of chemotherapeutic agents by decreasing the IC50 value. In vivo, FITC-GXC specifically accumulated in GC tissue. Moreover, systemic co-injection with GXC peptide and Adriamycin statistically improved the therapeutic efficacy in SGC-7901xenograft models, surprisingly, without obviously increasing side effects. Conclusion: These results demonstrated that co-administration of the novel peptide GXC with chemotherapeutic agents may bea potential way to enhance the efficacy of anticancer drugs in GC treatment.

Vertebral Artery Variations at the Craniovertebral Junction in “Sandwich” Atlantoaxial Dislocation Patients

        Yinglun Tian,Nanfang Xu,Ming Yan,Jinguo Chen,Kan-Lin Hung,Xiangyu Hou,Shenglin Wang,Weishi Li 대한척추신경외과학회 2021 Neurospine Vol.18 No.4

Objective: To summarize the vertebral artery (VA) pattern of 96 “sandwich” atlantoaxial dislocation (AAD) patients and to describe the strategies of reducing the injury of VA during surgery. Methods: From 2009 to 2020, we retrospectively reviewed the 3-dimensional computed tomography angiography data of 96 AAD patients combined with atlas occipitalization and C2–3 fusion, which were diagnosed as “sandwich” AAD and 96 patients as control group patients who were without atlas occipitalization, C2–3 fusion and any other cervical bone deformity at our institution. The variations of each side of VA were described in 3 different parts (C0–1, C1–2, and C2–3) according to the characteristics of the 3-part pathological structures in “sandwich” subgroup. Results: One hundred ninety-two sides of VAs in every group of patients were analyzed and every VA was described separately at 3 different level regions. There were different variations in these 3 different regions: 4 variations in the upper fusion region, 5 variations in the sandwiched region, and 6 variations in the lower fusion region in sandwich AAD patients. And the rate of VA deformity in sandwich AAD patients was much higher and more types of VA variations existed. Conclusion: In “sandwich” AAD patients, deformities of vertebral arteries in craniovertebral junction are more common, and the same VA may have deformities at different levels that severely affect surgical procedures. Therefore, preoperative imaging examination of VA for “sandwich” AAD patients is vital of guiding surgeons to avoid injury of VA during surgery.
