        김정일의 권력 승계 과정에 대한 연구: ‘216’의 정치상징화 지속과 북베트남의 교훈을 중심으로

        이 글의 목적은 1968년~1970년 동안 간과되었던 역사적 사실에 대한 소개, 분석을 토대로 김정일의 권력 승계 과정을 보충 연구하기 위한 것이다. 김정일은 1968년 2월 16일 자신의 생일에 김일성을 최초로 태양으로 묘사하였으며, 북한 사회가 미래의 태양이자 후계자로서 자신의 지위와 역할을 거부할 수 없는 정치적 환경을 조성하였다. 청년동맹을 중심으로 한 미래 세대 교육·양성이라는 호치민의 유훈에 따라 북한은 후계자 문제를 체제 유지·발전의 핵심 사안으로 재인식하고, 청년동맹을 중심으로 후계 세습 과정을 재정비하게 되었다. 북한에게 북베트남의 교훈과 호치민의 유훈은 중소의 후계 승계 경험보다 더 중요하게 인식되었을 것으로 보인다. 자신의 전용기인 IL-208이 아닌 IL-216을 타고 온 주언라이의 외교적 행위는 중국의 국내외적 상황상 북중관계를 복원하기 위한 화해와 우호적인 메시지를 전달하기 위해 의도되었을 가능성이 높다. 이것은 북한 사회가 당시 조직과 선전선동을 장악하고 있던 김정일을 후계자로 사실상 인식하고 있었음을 보여준다. The purpose of this article is to further study Kim Jong-il's succession process based on the analysis and introduction of historical facts that were overlooked and omitted between 1968 and 1970. On his birthday on February 16, 1968, Kim Jong-il first described Kim Il-sung as the sun, along with the beginning of revolutionarization and symbolization of the Kim Il-sung family and created a political environment in which he could not deny his position and role as the successor to the future sun. For North Korea, Vietnam's lessons and Ho Chi Minh's legacy played a more important role than the experiences of the USSR and China. North Korea has re-recognized the successor issue as a key issue in maintaining and developing the system and reorganized the succession process around the Youth Alliance in accordance with Ho Chi Minh’s dying instruction. The diplomatic act of Zhou Enlai, who flew on the IL-216 instead of his private jet IL-208, may have been intended to convey a reconciliation and friendly message to restore North Korea-China relations in China's internal and external circumstances. North Korea has strengthened its social "respect" atmosphere by granting Kim Jong-il political "authority" as its future leader through the symbol of 216.

      • Lung Transplantation in Six Patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Artery Hypertension

        Idiopathic pulmonary artery hypertension (IPAH) is an incurable and invariably fatal disease. Lung transplantation is a useful therapeutic option in patients who are unresponsive to medical treatment; however, lung transplantation performed for pulmonary hypertension is associated with significantly high perioperative mortality rates. We report a case series of six patients who underwent lung transplantation for IPAH between October 2008 and June 2021. Patients’ median age was 28.5 years, and the study included 5 of 6 women (83%). Pre-transplantation hemodynamic parameters showed mean right atrial pressure of 12.0±7.1 mmHg and mean pulmonary artery pressure of 62.2±29.5 mmHg. Two of six patients received extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy as a bridge to transplantation over 14 and 17 days, and four patients underwent elective transplantation. Two patients required prolonged postoperative venoarterial (V-A) ECMO support. Grade 3 primary graft dysfunction occurred in one patient; however, the clinical course improved following prolonged V-A ECMO therapy. Five patients (83.3%) required intervention for postoperative bleeding control; one of these patients died of uncontrolled bleeding concomitant with disseminated intravascular coagulation, on the 14th postoperative day, and we observed no other perioperative deaths. One patient died of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii bacteremia, a year postoperatively. The 1-month, 6-month, and 1-year survival rates were 83.3%, 83.3%, and 66.7%, respectively. In view of the poor prognosis of IPAH, lung transplantation (1-year mortality rates <40%) merits consideration as a useful therapeutic option in this patient population. However, postoperative bleeding tends to occur in most patients; therefore, close monitoring is important during post-transplantation management.

        Automotive seal is a mechanical part, which has the function of isolating dust, rain, noise and vibration from outside of a car. Main concern of door seal designers or automotive manufacturers is water leaks, wind noise and ease of opening and closing doors. To satisfy these type of design value, at the beginning of design cycle, prediction of stiffness of whole door seal and minimum door closing speed should be possible. In this paper, the stiffness of door seal was calculated by using 3 dimensional simulation method. Also, we have done the comparative study between implicit method and explicit method to predict the reaction force of door seal. And, Analytical method predicting the minimum door closing velocity from real vehicle's geometrical/physical data was developed. In this formulae, we consider most of the design factor affecting door closing velocity such as cabin pressure, leakage area and the stiffness of door latch or door seal.

        Effects of α-particle beam irradiation on superconducting properties of thin film MgB<sub>2</sub> superconductors

        Superconducting properties of thin film MgB2 superconductors irradiated with 45 MeV ${\alpha}$-particle beam were studied. After the irradiation, enhancement of the critical current density and pinning force was observed, scaling close to strong pinning formula. Double logarithmic plots of the maximum pinning force density with irreversible magnetic field show a power law behavior close to carbon-doped MgB2 film or polycrystals. Variation of normalized pinning force density in the reduced magnetic field suggests scaling formulas for strong pinning mechanism like planar defects. We also observed a rapid decay of critical current density as the vortex lattice constant decreases, due to the strong interaction between vortices and increasing magnetic field.

        Secondary Trigeminal Neuralgia Caused by Pharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma - A Case Report -

        Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is characterized by recurrent paroxysms of unilateral facial pain that typically is severe, lancinating, and activated with cutaneous stimulation. There are two types of TN, classical TN and atypical TN. The pain nature of classical TN are the same as those described above, whereas atypical TN is characterized by constant, burning pain. We describe the case of a 49-year-old male presenting with right-sided facial pain. The patient was diagnosed with temporomandibular joint disorder at a dental clinic and was on medical treatment, but his symptoms worsened gradually. He was referred to our pain clinic for further evaluation. Radiologic evaluation, including MRI, showed a parapharyngeal tumor. For the relief of TN, a right mandibular nerve (V3) root block was performed at our pain clinic, and then he was scheduled for radiation and chemotherapy.

      • Direct calculation of the strong Goos–Hänchen effect of a Gaussian light beam due to the excitation of surface plasmon polaritons in the Otto configuration

        <P>We theoretically study the influence of the surface plasmon excitation on the Goos–Hänchen lateral shift of a <I>p</I>-polarized Gaussian beam incident obliquely on a dielectric-metal bilayer in the Otto configuration. We find that the lateral shift depends sensitively on the thickness of the metal layer and the width of the incident beam, as well as on the incident angle. Near the incident angle at which surface plasmons are excited, the lateral shift changes from large negative values to large positive values as the thickness of the metal layer increases through a critical value. For wide incident beams, the maximal forward and backward lateral shifts can be as large as several hundred times of the wavelength. As the width of the incident Gaussian beam decreases, the magnitude of the lateral shift decreases rapidly, but the ratio of the width of the reflected beam to that of the incident beam, which measures the degree of the deformation of the reflected beam profile, increases. In all cases considered, we find that the reflected beam is split into two parts. We also find that the lateral shift of the transmitted beam is always positive and very weak.</P>

      • Propagation of light in stratified media with optical Kerr nonlinearity under external electric fields

        <P>We analyze the controlled behavior of light propagation in a stratified Kerr-nonlinear medium with its photonic band structure tuned by applying an external electric field. The transmittance <I>T</I> of light is significantly influenced by nonlinear effects induced by both the external field and the incident light. Transmission resonance (<I>T</I> = 1) is induced by two mechanisms, band-edge resonance and gap soliton resonance. The <I>T–E</I><SUB>ex</SUB> graph has two turning points and consists of three solution branches. One unstable branch is located between the turning points, and connected with a stable solution branch at each turning point. As <I>E</I><SUB>ex</SUB> increases and then decreases through the region of the turning points, the transition between the stable states on different branches produces optical bistability and hysteresis. As input light intensity grows, the upper stable solution branch separates itself from the unstable branch at the turning point, and both branches extend down to the ordinate axis at <I>E</I><SUB>ex</SUB> = 0. We have greatly enhanced single-envelope solitons on the upper stable branch from the separation point to the line of zero external field.</P>
