In the present study, the effects of differentratios of milk phospholipids, cholesterol and phytosterols(Campesterol) powder (50–100%, 0–50%, and 0–50%,respectively) and sonication time (20, 25, 30, 35 and40 min) were investigated to produce a new formulation ofnanoliposomes for encapsulation of vitamin C. The resultsshowed that increasing the time of sonication anddecreasing the ratio of phospholipid to phytosterol significantlydecreased nanoliposomes’ particle size (p\0.05). The maximum encapsulation efficiency was obtained at 35and 40 min of sonication time and 75–25 ratio of phospholipid:phytosterol. Also, reducing the sonication time inthe same ratio of phospholipid/phytosterol caused toincrease the controlled release. The highest stability ofvitamin C during 20 days was obtained in the ratio of75–25 (phospholipids: campesterol). The results showed apositive effect of cholesterol replacement with campesterolon encapsulation efficiency, control release and stability ofvitamin C in nanoliposomes.

In this study, graphene oxide nano-platforms were functionalized/reduced (rGO-His) by a greenreductant based on histamine. Additionally, the rGO-His was modified by zinc metal cations in two ways(I and II) and characterized by FT-IR, XRD, XPS, HR-TEM and FE-SEM. Then, by dynamic mechanicalthermal analysis (DMTA), tensile test and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) the mechanical/thermalproperties of the epoxy composite coatingsfilled with rGO-His and rGO-His-Zn (I and II) were evaluated. Results of tensile and DMTA analyses proved significant increment in tensile strength, elongation atbreak, cross-linking density and thermal stability of the coating in the presence of rGO-His.

Modifying the polymer-filler interface is an efficient strategy to enhance the gas separation performanceof zeolite-filled mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) by overcoming the interfacial defects. In this study, zeolite 13X particles were modified with 3-aminopropyl(diethoxy)methylsilane (APDEMS) andsubsequently embedded into the synthesized 6FDA-Durene polyimide (PI) to prepare MMMs. Thecharacteristic properties of modified zeolite particles and fabricated MMMs were investigated via FTIR,XRD, BET, DLS and SEM analyses. Moreover, the separation performance of resultant membranes wasstudied for CO2/N2 separation consideringfiller content (0–20 wt.%) at different feed pressure in therange of 0.2 to 1 MPa. The best separation performance was obtained by embedding 15 wt.% ofaminosilanized zeolite 13X (ASZX) into the PI membrane that exhibits the excellent CO2 permeability of887 Barrer and CO2/N2 selectivity of 25.3 at the feed pressure of 0.2 MPa. These values increased by about95% and 81%, respectively compared to those for pure PI membrane. In addition, the thermomechanicalproperties of MMMs were improved after aminosilane modification of zeolite particles. Surfacemodification of the zeolite particles via the aminosilane coupling agents can be considered as a suitablestrategy to improvefiller/polymer interfacial adhesion which consequently increases the CO2 adsorptionthrough the CO2-amine interactions.
Efficient Compression Schemes for Double Random Phase-encoded Data for Image Authentication
Samaneh Gholami,Keyvan Jaferzadeh,신석주,문인규 한국광학회 2019 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.3 No.5
Encrypted images obtained through double random phase-encoding (DRPE) occupy considerable storage space. We propose efficient compression schemes to reduce the size of the encrypted data. In the proposed schemes, two state-of-art compression methods of JPEG and JP2K are applied to the quantized encrypted phase images obtained by combining the DRPE algorithm with the virtual photon counting imaging technique. We compute the nonlinear cross-correlation between the registered reference images and the compressed input images to verify the performance of the compression of double random phase-encoded images. We show quantitatively through experiments that considerable compression of the encrypted image data can be achieved while security and authentication factors are completely preserved.

In the current research, the biodiesel purification was by use of poly ether sulfone based membrane. The biodiesel was produced from waste cooking oils by trans-esterification. Membranes were fabricated by solution casting through phase inversion method. The effect of PES concentration in the casting solution on physico-chemical characteristics, morphology and performance of membranes in glycerol removal from produced biodiesel was studied. SEM and AFM analysis have been utilized for the membrane morphological characterization. SEM images showed uniform surface for the membranes. AFM analysis revealed that the membrane surface roughness was decreased by increase of polymer concentration. The membrane flux, water content and porosity were also decreased by increase of PES concentration. Moreover, obtained results showed that membrane glycerol rejection and mechanical strength were improved by increase of polymer binder concentration. The prepared membrane with 16%wt PES showed more appropriate performance compared to others.

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a complex and multifactorial disorder characterized by insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia, hyperglycemia, abdominal obesity, and elevated blood pressure. The apolipoprotein A5 (APOA5) gene variants have been reported to correlate with two major components of MetS, including low levels of high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and high levels of triglyceride. In the present study, we explored the associations between five single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of APOA5 gene and the MetS risk. Methods: In a case-control design, 120 Iranian children and adolescents with/without MetS were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-sequencing for these SNPs. Then, we investigated the association of SNPs, individually or in haplotype constructs, with MetS risk. Results: The rs34089864 variant and H1 haplotype (harboring the two major alleles of rs619054 and rs34089864) were associated with HDL-C levels. However, there was no significant association between different haplotypes/individual SNPs and MetS risk. Conclusion: These results presented no association of APOA5 3’UTR SNPs with MetS. Further studies, including other polymorphisms, are required to investigate the involvement of APOA5 gene in the genetic susceptibility to MetS in the pediatric age group.

Gladiolus, or sword lily, is one of the most important cut flowers worldwide. Enhancement of its traits is of paramount importance to the flower industry. The application of 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) by corm priming and plant foliar spray to improve morphological, biochemical and postharvest characteristics of Gladiolus grandiflorus cv. Oscar were investigated. Concentrations of 0.5, 1, and 2 µM EBR as well as distillated water as a control were used for both corm priming and foliar spray treatments. Results showed that the highest levels of corm sprouting and flower spike emergence were obtained at 1 µM EBR. Floret numbers, flower spike fresh and dry weight, and vase life showed the highest values at 1 µM EBR combined treatments. The combination of corm priming at 2 µM and foliar spay at 1 µM EBR, showed the highest effect on malondialdehyde reduction. The highest activities of antioxidant enzymes such as catalase, peroxidase, and superoxide dismutase were obtained in combination of 1 µM EBR corm priming and 1 µM EBR foliar spray. EBR treatments prolonged vase life from 8 to 14 days and significantly improved gladiolus morphological and biochemical traits.
Adenosine Blockage in Tumor Microenvironment and Improvement of Cancer Immunotherapy
Samaneh Arab,Jamshid Hadjati 대한면역학회 2019 Immune Network Vol.19 No.4
Immunotherapy has been introduced into cancer treatment methods, but different problems have restricted the efficacy of these protocols in clinical trials such as the presence of various immunomodulatory factors in the tumor microenvironment. Adenosine is an immunosuppressive metabolite produced by the tumor to promote growth, invasion, metastasis, and immune evasion. Many studies about adenosine and its metabolism in cancer have heightened interest in pursuing this treatment approach. It seems that targeting the adenosine pathway in combination with immunotherapy may lead to efficient antitumor response. In this review, we provide information on the roles of both adenosine and CD73 in the immune system and tumor development. We also describe recent studies about combination therapy with both purinergic inhibitors and other immunotherapeutic methods.
