솔잎혹파리(thecodiplosis japonensis Uchida et Inouye)는 우리나라에서 高木(1929)이 木浦에서 最初로 發見하여 報告한 以來 現在에는 제주도 전역과 강원도, 충청남북도의 일부를 제외한 南韓 全域에 分布하고 있다. 이 害충은 솔잎에 충영을 형성하고 토양중에서 幼충期의 일부와 踊期를 경과하는 복잡한 生活史를 갖고 있으며 出林이라는 지형과 稙生이 복잡한 환경조건과 면적당의 낮은 收益性 때문에 아직도 效果的인 防除對策이 확립되지 못하고 있다. 本 害蟲에 대해서는 李(1956)의 生活史 및 加害狀態 등에 관하여 高(1966)는 총영형성을, 월동유충의 지하낙하율 및 유충의 성장도 등에 관하여 報告한 바 있고 玄(1968)은 天敵에 관한 연구를 하였으며, 1969年에는 林業軾驗場에서 솔잎혹파리의 生態 및 防除法에 관한 조사를 실시한 바 있다. 또한 1970年에는 林業軾驗場에서 天敵奇生蜂의 연구가 있었다. 高(1975) 등은 솔잎혹파리의 被害, ?延源을 분석, 보고하였고 金(1975) 등은 유충의 포식성 天敵에 관한 보고를 하였다. 또한 崔(1976) 등은 化學的 防除法을 조(1976)등은 微生物을 이용한 防除法을 보고한 바 있으며 朴과 玄(1977)은 個體群動態에 관한 연구를 보고하였는데 Juvenile Hormone을 이용한 방제에 관해서는 국내에서는 아직 시도되지 않았다. 본 연구는 현재 외국에서 크게 관심을 끌고 있는 人體에 害가 없고 곤충에서의 저항성이 불가능한 이상적인 殺蟲濟로 알려진 Juvenile Hormone을 솔잎혹파리의 終齡幼충에 처리하여 그 殺蟲效果를 調査함으로써 野外에서의 實用 可能性을 검토코자 한다. Mortal effects of Juvenile Hormones on larvae just before pupation of pine gall midge, Thecodiplosis japonensis are observed according to the kinds and concentrations. 1. At the concenfration of 0.1% JH Ⅰ, JH Ⅱ and JH Ⅲ all show the highest mortal effect and also represent a moderate effect until fourth day after treatment, and among these JH Ⅰ is most effective. 2. Although the results from 0.05% are less effedtive than those from 0.1%, they manintain the comstant effect until fourth day after treatment. 3. At the concentrantion of 0.001% JH Ⅰ, JH Ⅱ and JH Ⅲ all have no effect. 4. JH Ⅰ of 0.1% shows a high mortal effect within second day after treatment while that of 0.05% shows a clear effect between second and fourth day after treatment. 5. JH Ⅱ of 0.1% represents a high effect within first day after treatment whereas that of 0.05% has no effect but both show a similar effect between first and fourth day after trearment. 6. JH Ⅲ of both 0.1% and 0.05% respresents a similar effect until seventh day after treatment. 7. In general the pupae are more resistnat to environment than the larvae and the pupae without cocoon also emerge into adults.

Background: The incidence rate of thyroid cancer has been increasing worldwide in recent years, and it is also the most prevalent cancer when it comes to the number of patients among Korean women. With it, ultrasonographic screening test has also become very common. However, there is still controversy over the performance of this screening test. Therefore, the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency (NECA) organized a Round-table Conference on the issues regarding ultrasonographic screening for thyroid cancer in Korea. The objective of the conference was mainly about delivering worthwhile information reflecting social value for the current situation, which was based on evidence surrounding thyroid cancer screening that relevant experts investigated and agreed on. The significance of this Round-table Conference lies in the fact that we reviewed the current evidence, and we were able to discuss the social value and future direction for ultrasonographic screening in Korea.

In order to understand the relationship between lipid peroxide in blood serum and various diseases supposed to be related to abnormal lipid metabolism, lipid peroxides in human patient serums were measured by fluorometry. The results obtained were folllowing: In normal human, the serum lipid peroxides showed a slight increase by age, but not much difference by sex. Lipid peroxides in blood serum of various patients with hypertention, diabetes, hepatitis, arteriosclerosis, stomach cancer were higher than those of the normal human. From these results obtained, the autors concluded that lipid peroxides in blood serum appeared to be correlated to various diseases supposed to be realted to lipid peroxidation.
