      • Investigation of Two Factors Including the Range of Motion and Body Stability and a Comparison of Active and Inactive Men

        ( Safoora Sabbaghian Rad ),( Mostafa Porkiani ),( Azad Mohamadi ) 한국체육학회 2015 국제스포츠과학 학술대회 Vol.2015 No.1

Purpose: The central stability or strengthening the central stability of the body has become one of the know methods in the medical athletic world. The central stability has many benefits including progress in the sport performance, prevention of injuries, and reduction of back pain. In addition, it results in a decrease in the pressure applied to the inactive tissues of the vertebral column. On the other hand, the results of the few tests done on the athletes show that the bodybuilding athletes are exposed to the reduction of the range of motion of the joints and muscular imbalance. Considering the high prevalence of back and body injuries in bodybuilding athletes, investigation of the range of motion of the body in different directions and the central stability and the ration of these two factors in both sides of these athletes` bodies and its comparison with non-athletes can give useful information about the identification of dangerous back and body injury factors in these athletes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is the investigation of two factors including the central stability and the body flexibility and comparing them in bodybuilding athletes and non-athletes. For this purpose, 60 people (including 30 bodybuilding athletes and 30 non-athletes) were selected. Among bodybuilding athletes, elite and healthy ones were selected. In addition, the non-athletes were all healthy. Method: To measure the central stability (flexion, extension, lateral), McGill tests were used. In addition, the body flexibility in the flexion, extension, lateral right and left rotation, and lateral right and left flexion were measured by a tape meter. Result: The results of this study show that the flexion stability time in the bodybuilding athletes was considerably lower than that of the non-athletes (P=0.001). In addition, the flexibility in the flexion (P=0.03) and extension (P=0.02) directions in the bodybuilding athletes was considerably lower than that of the non-athletes. However, no considerable difference was seen between the ranges of motion (flexion to extension, lateral right to left flexion, and right to left rotation) of both groups(P<0.05). Conclusion: In addition, the results of this study showed that the bodybuilding athletes have less central stability in the direction of the flexion and less flexibility in the direction of the flexion and extension in comparison with the non-athletes. This can predispose these athletes to the body injuries in the future.

ORiginal Article : Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and Tooth Erosion; A Cross-Sectional Observational Study

( Fatemeh Farahmand ),( Mozhgan Sabbaghian ),( Sharareh Ghodousi ),( Nasila Seddighoraee ),( Mahdi Abbasi ) The Editorial Office of Gut and Liver 2013 Gut and Liver Vol.7 No.3

Background/Aims: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is common in children. Recurrent exposure to gastric acid in GERD may contribute to tooth erosion. Methods: In this prospective study, 54 GERD patients qualified according to endoscopy, pH-metry, and the GERD questionnaire and 58 healthy controls qualified by the GERD questionnaire were assessed. Two groups underwent dental evaluations for the presence, severity, and patterns of erosion and for the stage of dentition using a Tooth Wear Index. The health care providers who performed the dental exams did not know which children had been diagnosed with GERD. Results: A total of 112 children, 3 to 12 years old were enrolled in the study, and 53 of 54 (98.1%) GERD patients and 11 of 58 (19.0%) controls had dental erosions (p<0.0001). In GERD patients, the posterior occlusal surfaces of milk teeth were more affected (p<0.0001). There was no correlation between GERD and the affected surfaces in permanent teeth, nor in the patterns or erosion grades (localized or general). In both groups, milk teeth had more erosions than permanent teeth, but the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusions: According to this study, there is a positive correlation between GERD and dental erosion. Posterior occlusal surface erosions in milk teeth could indicate GERD. Effect of Addition of Rare Earth Elements on the Microstructure, Texture, and Mechanical Properties of Extruded ZK60 Alloy

        S. Najafi,M. Sabbaghian,A. Sheikhani,P. Nagy,K. Fekete,J. Gubicza 대한금속·재료학회 2023 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.29 No.6

Microstructure, texture and mechanical properties of extruded ZK60 alloys containing different rare earth (RE) elementswere studied. Two alloys containing 1 and 2 wt% Ce-rich lanthanides as well as two other alloys with 1 and 2 wt% Y wereprepared and denoted as ZK60–1RE, ZK60–2RE, ZK60–1Y and ZK60–2Y, respectively. The results showed that the additionof RE elements refined the grain size of the ZK60 alloy, and Y had a more significant effect on the grain size reduction. The finer grain size in the ZK60–1Y and ZK60–2Y alloys (2.3 and 2.1 μm, respectively) compared to ZK60–1RE andZK60–2RE alloys (6.2 and 3.7 μm, respectively) was attributed to the pinning effect of very fine secondary phases on grainboundaries. While the ZK60–1Y alloy exhibited a fiber texture with a slight rotation of < 1010 > poles around the extrusiondirection, the ZK60–1RE alloy showed a new texture component known as RE texture. Moreover, there were no changes inthe fiber-like texture component of ZK60–2RE and ZK60–2Y alloys. The mechanical properties of the alloys were assessedby shear punch test. Accordingly, the addition of RE and Y elements enhanced the shear strength, and the maximum ultimateshear strength of 176 MPa was obtained for the ZK60–2RE alloy. The higher dislocation density, the lower volume fractionof dynamically recrystallized regions compared to other alloys, and the large fraction of secondary phase particles wereresponsible for this high strength value.

Upregulation of the RNF8 gene can predict the presence of sperm in azoospermic individuals

        Nazari, Majid,Babakhanzadeh, Emad,Zarch, Mohsen Aghaei,Talebi, Mehrdad,Narimani, Nima,Dargahi, Mandana,Sabbaghian, Marjan,Ghasemi, Nasrin The Korean Society for Reproductive Medicine 2020 Clinical and Experimental Reproductive Medicine Vol.47 No.1

Objective: In this study, specimens from testicular biopsies of men with nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) were used to investigate whether RNF8 gene could serve as a biomarker to predict the presence of sperm in these patients. Methods: Testicular biopsy specimens from 47 patients were classified according to the presence of sperm (positive vs. negative groups) and investigated for the expression of RNF8. The level of RNF8 gene expression in the testes was compared between these groups using reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results: The expression level of RNF8 was significantly higher in testicular samples from the positive group than in those from the negative group. Moreover, the area under the curve of RNF8 expression for the entire study population was 0.84, showing the discriminatory power of RNF8 expression in differentiating between the positive and negative groups of men with NOA. A receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that RNF8 expression had a sensitivity of 81% and a specificity of 84%, with a cutoff level of 1.76. Conclusion: This study points out a significant association between the expression of RNF8 and the presence of sperm in NOA patients, which suggests that quantified RNF8 expression in testicular biopsy samples may be a valuable biomarker for predicting the presence of spermatozoa in biopsy samples.
