One third of the world population is estimated to have Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. It is urgent to develop a rapid, inexpensive and convenient diagnostic method for detection of tuberculosis. Porous silicon material has taken more and more attention in recent years for biosensing applications and some useful results have been obtained. In this paper, we report the feasibility of applying porous silicon microcavity biosensor in a novel and relatively rapid serodiagnostic approach. Nowadays, most of serodiagnostic tests are based on labeled detection. Applying label-free detection methods can help develop fast and e±cient tuberculosis diagnostic tools, which can meet the current demand. In this study, we use this label-free sensing platform (i.e., porous silicon microcavity) to detect the interaction between 16 kDa antigen and anti-16 kDa antibody. Through a series of experiments, we verify the speci¯city and examine the sensitivity of this new diagnostic technique. The results show that it is feasible to apply porous silicon microcavity in the tests of tuberculosis.
An Improved Variable Step Size MPPT Algorithm Based on INC
Zhi-rong Xu,Ping Yang,Dong-bao Zhou,Peng Li,Jin-yong Lei,Yuan-rui Chen 전력전자학회 2015 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.15 No.2
In order to ensure that photovoltaic (PV) systems work at the maximum power point (MPP) and maximize the economic benefits, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques are normally applied to these systems. One of the most widely applied MPPT methods is the incremental conductance (INC) method. However, the choice of the step size still remains controversial. This paper presents an improved variable step size INC MPPT algorithm that uses four different step sizes. This method has the advantages of INC but with the ability to validly adjust the step size to adapt to changes of the PV’s power curve. The presented algorithm also simultaneously achieves increased rapidity and accuracy when compared with the conventional fixed step size INC MPPT algorithm. In addition, the theoretical derivation and specific applications of the proposed algorithm are presented here. This method is validated by simulation and experimental results.
A Method for Evaluation of the Quality of DNA Microarray Spots

To establish a method to evaluate the quality of the printed microarray and DNA fragments' immobilization. The target gene fragments that were made with the restriction display PCR (RD-PCR) technique were printed on a superamine modified glass slide, then immobilized with UV cross-linking and heat. This chip was hybridized with universal primers that were labeled with cy3-dUTP, as well as cDNA that was labeled with cy3-dCTP, as the conventional protocol. Most of the target gene fragments on the chip showed positive signals, but the negative control showed no signal, and vice versa. We established a method that enables an effective evaluation of the quality of the microarrays.
Characterization of a Baculovirus Newly Isolated from the Tea Slug Moth, Iragoidae fasciata
Li-Rong Yang,Xiao Qiang,Bao-Qin Zhang,Mei-Jun Tang,Chuan-Xi Zhang 한국미생물학회 2009 The journal of microbiology Vol.47 No.2
The tea slug moth Iragoidae fasciata (Lepidoptera, Eucleidae) is one of the main insect pests that attack tea bushes. A new nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV) called Iragoidae fasciata NPV (IrfaNPV) was recently isolated from diseased larvae. An 11,626 bp fragment of the viral genomic DNA containing the polyhedrin gene and other 12 genes was cloned and sequenced. Gene comparison and phylogenetic analysis showed that IrfaNPV is a member of the Group I NPVs. However, the genomic organization of IrfaNPV is highly distinct. In addition, electron microscopy analysis showed that IrfaNPV is a single nucleocapsid NPV (SNPV). An inoculation assay showed that IrfaNPV is semi-permissive in the Trichoplusia ni cell line Tn-5B1-4. Bioassays on lethal concentration (LC50) and lethal time (LT50) were conducted to test the susceptibility of I. fasciata larvae to the virus.
Modeling of ion diffusion coefficient in saturated concrete
Xiao-Bao Zuo,Wei Sun,Cheng Yu,Xu-Rong Wan 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2010 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.7 No.5
This paper utilizes the modified Davis model and the mode coupling theory, as parts of the electrolyte solution theory, to investigate the diffusivity of the ion in concrete. Firstly, a computational model of the ion diffusion coefficient, which is associated with ion species, pore solution concentration, concrete mix parameters including water-cement ratio and cement volume fraction, and microstructure parameters such as the porosity and tortuosity, is proposed in the saturated concrete. Secondly, the experiments, on which the chloride diffusion coefficient is measured by the rapid chloride penetration test, have been carried out to investigate the validity of the proposed model. The results indicate that the chloride diffusion coefficient obtained by the proposed model is in agreement with the experimental result. Finally, numerical simulation has been completed to investigate the effects of the porosity, tortuosity, water-cement ratio, cement volume fraction and ion concentration in the pore solution on the ion diffusion coefficients. The results show that the ion diffusion coefficient in concrete increases with the porosity, water-cement ratio and cement volume fraction, while we see a decrease with the increasing of tortuosity. Meanwhile, the ion concentration produces more obvious effects on the diffusivity itself, but has almost no effects on the other ions.

Prediction model of surface subsidence for salt rock storage based on logistic function
Wang, Jun-Bao,Liu, Xin-Rong,Huang, Yao-Xian,Zhang, Xi-Cheng Techno-Press 2015 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.9 No.1
To predict the surface subsidence of salt rock storage, a new surface subsidence basin model is proposed based on the Logistic function from the phenomenological perspective. Analysis shows that the subsidence curve on the main section of the model is S-shaped, similar to that of the actual surface subsidence basin; the control parameter of the subsidence curve shape can be changed to allow for flexible adjustment of the curve shape. By using this model in combination with the MMF time function that reflects the single point subsidence-time relationship of the surface, a new dynamic prediction model of full section surface subsidence for salt rock storage is established, and the numerical simulation calculation results are used to verify the availability of the new model. The prediction results agree well with the numerical simulation results, and the model reflects the continued development of surface subsidence basin over time, which is expected to provide some insight into the prediction and visualization research on surface subsidence of salt rock storage.
