An Iranian clinoptilolite has been modified with MnO2 for the catalytic removal of Fe2+ cations from water in a batch slurry reactor. The modified zeolite was subjected to FESEM, XRD, WDX, XRF and specific surface area analysis. A correlation for the intrinsic catalytic reaction rate incorporating both Fe2+ and dissolved oxygen concentration as a function of reaction temperature has been presented. The effect of the modified zeolite aggregate particle size on the iron removal kinetics has been investigated. It was shown that for particles larger than 150 mm, diffusion through the mesopores of the zeolite aggregate is rate controlling. The effective diffusion coefficient through the particles at RT has been calculated as 2.3 106 cm2 s1. It is shown that liquid phase molecular diffusion within the mesopores is the dominating mass transfer mechanism.
PCR-based Identification of Aflatoxigenic Fungi Associated with Iranian Saffron

Aflatoxins are secondary metabolites produced by the aflatoxigenic fungi in suitable conditions. Saffron, Crocus sativus, is the most expensive spice in the world. Saffron is normally contaminated with soil and hand microflora during harvest and post-harvest operations. In this study, rapid assessment of aflatoxigenic fungi in saffron was accomplished using polymerase chain reaction. In total, 37 market samples were assayed in order to isolate aflatoxin-producing fungi. The 18.9% of the total samples were contaminated with aflatoxigenic fungi. Our results also show that most of the isolated fungi were saprophytes which are normally originated from soil during harvest and postharvest process.
A NOTE ON STATIC MANIFOLDS AND ALMOST RICCI SOLITONS
Ahmadzadeh, Reihaneh,Ghahremani-Gol, Hajar Korean Mathematical Society 2022 대한수학회논문집 Vol.37 No.2
In this short paper, we investigate the existence of non-trivial almost Ricci solitones on static manifolds. As a result we show any compact nontrivial static manifold is isometric to a Euclidean sphere.

In this work, a new natural-based approach was exploited to improve the low temperature carrier method in dyeing process of polyester fabrics. Vanilla was introduced as an alternative substitute for commercial toxic carriers including CTM and Levegal PEW in particular. With use of vanilla in dyeing process, the dye uptake of PET fabrics dyed with C.I. Disperse blue 56 and C.I. Disperse Red 1 was increased significantly. In order to have an economical dyeing process, a two-component mixture of carrier and vanilla was assessed to reduce the consumption of carrier (1/6 of optimum amount) and vanilla. The results showed that vanilla and commercial carriers were compatible and so their mixtures led to higher dye uptake compared to each one individually. The study confirmed that vanilla as an eco-friendly material could substitute the use of commercial carriers in polyester dyeing and led to excellent wash, rub, and better light fastness properties.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the relationships between bone density measurements obtained using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and morphometric parameters of bone determined by histomorphometric analysis. Materials and Methods: In this in vivo study, 30 samples from the maxillary bones of 7 sheep were acquired using a trephine. The bone samples were returned to their original sites, and the sheep heads were imaged using CBCT. On the CBCT images, gray values were calculated. In the histomorphometric analysis, the total bone volume, the trabecular bone volume (referred to simply as bone volume), and the trabecular thickness were assessed. Results: Statistical testing showed significant correlations between CBCT gray values and total bone volume (r =0.537, P =0.002), bone volume (r =0.672, P<0.001), and trabecular thickness (r =0.692, P<0.001), as determined via the histomorphometric analysis. Conclusion: The results indicate a significant and acceptable association between CBCT gray values and bone volume, suggesting that CBCT may be used in bone densitometry.
Control of Cancer Growth Using Two Input Autonomous Fuzzy Nanoparticles
Fahimeh Razmi,Reihaneh Kardehi Moghaddam,Alireza Rowhanimanesh 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2015 NANO Vol.10 No.4
A major challenge in cancer therapy is destroying cancer cells with least side effects on healthy cells. In this paper, autonomous drug-encapsulated nanoparticle (ADENP) with a real feedback control is recommended to prevent from the growth of cancerous tumors and treatment of them. The proposed ADENPs, swarmly perform local drug delivery which leads to significant reduction in side effects on healthy tissues in comparison to global drug delivery. The proposed ADENPs every moment, take feedback directly from drugs and cancer cells and at any time decide how much drugs to release. Also, these ADENPs have the capability of distinguishing unhealthy from healthy tissues, and medication use of these nanoparticles is more efficient than drug carriers. Another feature of these ADENPs is their simple structure in comparison to nanorobots. Simulation results show that ADENPs successfully reduce the number of cancer cells with minimal side effects.

Background Organophosphorus agents are potent neurotoxins that widely used as insecticides and also as poison in warfare. In the current study, we examined the neuroprotective role of NMDA receptors in Paraoxon (POX)-induced neurotoxicity of hippocampal cultured neurons. Objective Hippocampal neurons were isolated from the brains of neonatal rats. The cells treated with POX (100 µM) for 48 h or NMDA (NMDA receptor agonist, 100 µM) for 1 h or MK801 (NMDA receptor antagonist, 1 µM) for 15 min before the NMDA and POX treatment. The colorimetric MTS method was used for cell survival assay. The immunocytochemistry and scanning electron microscopy were done for the morphometric study and total neurotic length calculations. Additionally, the activity of the caspase-3 enzyme was determined. Result The present results demonstrated that POX signifcantly reduces the viability of cells, cell number, length of neurites, and also the surface area of neurons. We also show that POX increased the activity of the Caspase3 enzyme. Additionally, the application of NMDA signifcantly increased the viability of cells, cell number, and the surface area of neurons as compared with the POX group. Furthermore, pretreatment of cells with NMDA signifcantly decreased the activity of the Caspase3 enzyme as compared with the POX group. Application of MK801 signifcantly decreased cell viability, cell number, TNL, and activity of Caspase3 enzyme as compared with the control group. Conclusion The present study indicated that NMDA treatment has neuroprotective efects on hippocampal neurons following exposure to POX. It seems that these protective efects mediated by decrease the activity of caspase3. Additionally, pretreatment of cells with MK801 has toxicity efects on hippocampal neurons.
