        Posttraumatic bilateral thigh Morel-Lavallée lesions without an underlying bone fracture in the United Kingdom: a case report

        A Morel-Lavallée lesion results from a degloving injury between the muscle fascia and the subcutaneous layer. It is most commonly found in the trochanteric area but can occur at other sites. The treatment of the condition varies according to the medical circumstances, as well as the size and chronicity of the condition. A case of large (18×6 and 10×5 cm) bilateral posttraumatic Morel-Lavallée lesions with no underlying bone fracture is presented; the case occurred in a 49-year-old male patient 4 weeks posttrauma. Ultrasound scans showed bilateral large collections of anechoic fluid, which were aspirated under ultrasound guidance and further managed by compression bandages. There were no further complications. The objective of this case report is to present this unique and educational case, as well as to provide an overview of the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of Morel-Lavallée lesions. We conclude by discussing the importance of having a high index of suspicion to ensure early detection and prompt treatment of such lesions to avoid complications.

        Next Generation Flexible Antennas for Radio Frequency Applications

        In the era of modern disposable electronic technology, fl exible substrate materials are excessive in demand due to foldable,bendable and stretchable choices. This paper reviews the research undertaken on fl exible substrates particularly employed inhigh-tech applications of radio frequency and antenna design technologies. Irrespective of traditional applications, naturalfi brils based substrates are considered most promising candidates as substrates for next-generation electronic applicationsdue to abundant, low profi le, light-weight, fl exible and environment safe characteristics. This paper also presents a comprehensivestudy of the design and methods that have been applied to use mentioned materials in radio frequency applications. Several challenges are highlighted in the large-scale production and deployment of these technologies in real-world systems.

        The Daegu Mosque Issue: A Reflection of Islamophobia and Challenges to Religious Freedom in South Korea

        이 글은 대구 이슬람사원 건축을 둘러싸고 진행 중인 갈등을 비판적으로 살피며, 이슬람혐오의 표출과 종교 자유를 위한 투쟁을 조명한다. 사원 건축을 반대하는 주민들은 표면적으로는 반대의 이유가 소음, 음식 냄새와 같은 현실적인 문제들에 있다고 한다. 그러나 그 기저에는 이슬람에 대한 뿌리 깊은 공포와 혐오 정서가 있음을 알 수 있다. 이 글은 사원 건립을 둘러싼 갈등을 조장하고 이슬람에 관한 거짓 정보를 퍼트리며 무슬림 공동체를 향해 차별적 언행을 부추기는 데 특정 종교 세력 및 반이민 단체들이 하고 있는 역할을 면밀히 분석한다. 이 같은 단체들의 개입에서도 알 수 있듯이, 대구 이슬람사원 건립을 둘러싼 갈등은 한국 사회의 이슬람혐오의 축소판이라 할 수 있다. 이 글은 이처럼 한국 사회의 혐오 정치라는 맥락에서 이슬람사원 갈등을 살펴보며, 사원 건립이 법적으로 승인되었음에도 무슬림 학생들이 지속적으로 직면하고 있는 어려움에 대해 구체적으로 살펴보고자 한다.

        The coset diagrams are composed of fragments, and the fragments are further composed of circuits at a certain common point. A condition for the existence of a certain fragment ${\gamma}$ of a coset diagram in a coset diagram is a polynomial f in ${\mathbb{Z}}$[z]. In this paper, we answer the question: how many polynomials are obtained from the fragments, evolved by joining the circuits (n, n) and (m, m), where n < m, at all points.

        Magnetic Field and Permeability Effects on Jeffrey Fluid in Eccentric Tubes Having Flexible Porous Boundaries

        In the present study, we recapitulated the magnetic field and porous medium effects on the peristaltic mechanism of a Jeffrey fluid model observed between two electrically conducting eccentric annuli. The inner annulus is assumed to be rigid and to contain constant velocity across the longitudinal direction of the enclosure; the outer one is considered to be flexible and to experience peristaltic waves travelling down its walls. Moreover, the magnetic field is examined in the direction normal to the pattern in the presence of a porous medium. The flow, meanwhile, is incompressible and follows in an unsteady format. The flow’s descriptive equations are reduced by anticipation of long wave length and small Reynolds number approximations. The resulting governing equations are then handled using analytical techniques. The achieved expressions for the considerable functions are manipulated graphically to determine the influences of various appertaining parameters. Finally, the results are compared with those of previous studies to confirm the validity of the present solutions through tables and graphs. The graphs indicated that the magnetic field increases the pumping rate but that the porosity reduces it.

        The Impact of Government Ownership and Corporate Governance on the Corporate Social Responsibility: Evidence from UAE

        The main objective of this study is to examine the government ownership effect on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) firm’s corporate social responsibility (CSR). Government ownership is assumed to affect the CSR either directly or indirectly. That is by moderating the association between corporate governance and CSR. Publicly listed companies on the UAE capital markets (Abu Dhabi and Dubai) from 2010-2013 constituted the study sample. Panel data regression analyses and random effect model is used to examine the effects of board size, board independence, and audit committee characteristics on CSR. Government ownership is used as a moderator variable. The result showed that the existence of government ownership has a moderator effect on the association between corporate governance mechanisms and the CSR. Precisely, the research revealed that the audit committee characteristics become more effective in improving the firm’s CSR when the government owns shares in the organization. The main contribution of this study is to examine how firm ownership structure influences good corporate governance and CSR in the UAE. The study contributes to the CSR literature by merging between the existence of governmental ownership and the power to enforce the implementation of corporate governance in an emerging country.

        Effects of External Magnetic Field on non-Newtonian Two Phase Fluid in an Annulus with Peristaltic Pumping

        This paper comprises the exact solutions of Non-Newtonian multiphase fluid through peristaltic pumping characteristics in an annulus having complaint walls and applied magnetic field. The mechanics of the geometry are defined cylindrical due to its large number of utilizations in medicine and biological apparatus. The external cylinder is having sinusoidal waves travelling along its walls. The problem is simplified by some suitable and valid approximations. The authors have obtained the accurate solutions of the velocities of two phases. The effects of appertaining parameters have been displayed through graphs of velocity for v and particulate phases and the behavior of curves are manipulated accordingly. It is concluded that applied magnetic field decreases the velocity of both the fluid and the particles flow.

        Antibacterial activity of flower of Melia azedarach Linn. and identification of its metabolites

        Constituents of eight different extracts and fractions, obtained from flowers of Melia azedarach, were identified by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry and mass spectral library search. Altogether, 38 phytochemicals were identified, all for the first time from the flowers. Only 14 of these were known from parts of M. azedarach other than flowers, while 24 are reported for the first time from any part of the plant. These metabolites included branched and n-hydrocarbons, aromatics, a polyisoprenoid, fatty acids, fatty acid methyl esters, and fatty alcohols, which were found to be different from its essential oil constituents. One major constituent 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (4) was not only identified but also isolated as a pure compound from ethyl acetate extract. Extracts, compound 4 and its derivatives gallic acid and methyl gallate were tested for antimicrobial potential. Gallic acid and methyl gallate exhibited antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus saprophyticus. Methyl gallate also showed some activity against Corynebacterium diphtheriae and Corynebacterium. hofmannii. Among the extracts, only methanol extract exhibited activity against Pseudomonas sp. The extracts only inhibited the growth of dermatophytic fungi.
