        Operations on temporal intuitionistic fuzzy sets

        In this paper, theory of temporal intuitionistic fuzzy sets (TIFSs) is developed. Geometric interpretation of TIFSs is given. A few basic operations and normalization on TIFSs are defined and a few of their properties are analysed. Also, the five types of cartesian products of TIFSs are defined and the properties of TIFS based on these definitions are discussed.

        SECURE DOMINATION PARAMETERS OF HALIN GRAPH WITH PERFECT K-ARY TREE

        Let G be a simple undirected graph. A planar graph known as a Halin graph(HG) is characterised by having three connected and pendent vertices of a tree that are connected by an outer cycle. A subset S of V is said to be a dominating set of the graph G if each vertex u that is part of V is dominated by at least one element v that is a part of S. The domination number of a graph is denoted by the γ(G), and it corresponds to the minimum size of a dominating set. A dominating set S is called a secure dominating set if for each v ∈ V\S there exists u ∈ S such that v is adjacent to u and S<sub>1</sub> = (S\{v}) ∪ {u} is a dominating set. The minimum cardinality of a secure dominating set of G is equal to the secure domination number γ<sub>s</sub>(G). In this article we found the secure domination number of Halin graph(HG) with perfet k-ary tree and also we determined secure domination of rooted product of special trees.

        1, 25-(OH)2D3 protects against ER stress and miRNA dysregulation in Mus musculus neurons

        Background: The pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) is closely associated with cellular oxidative stress which can result in the accumulation of toxic proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) leading to ER stress and subsequent unfolded protein response (UPR) signaling, a mechanism that aggravate these disorders. Vitamin D has been suggested to have important neuroprotective role and its administration has been shown to reduce neuronal injury, neurotoxicity and oxidative stress in various animal systems. Objective: The current study was undertaken to examine the effect of vitamin D3 on UPR in ER stress induced Mus musculus neuronal cells. Methods: Mus musculus cortical and hippocampal primary neuronal cultures were pretreated with 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1, 25-(OH)2D3), the active form of vitamin D, followed by ER stress induction with a chemical ER stress inducer thapsigargin and with an advanced glycated protein, AGE-BSA. The UPR genes and related microRNAs (miRNA) expressions were analyzed mainly using real-time PCR. Results: The experiment resulted in the suppression of ER stress marker BiP and UPR pathway genes such as Perk, Ire1α, Chop and Puma which mediate cellular apoptosis indicating the protective effect of 1, 25-(OH)2D3 against neuronal ER stress. Further studies into the molecular aspects showed that ER stress mediated down-regulated expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) such as mmu-miR-24, 27b, 124, 224, 290, 351 and 488 which are known to regulate the UPR pathway genes were also reduced with vitamin pretreatment, of which the miRNAs miR-24 and 27b which shares the same cluster are potentially involved in various human diseases. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the therapeutic role of vitamin D in reducing neuronal ER stress and the need for maintaining sufficient amount of this vitamin in our diet.

        Noise removal from images using intuitionistic fuzzy logic controller

        Information obtained from the real world problems are often complex and left incomplete. The concept of intuitionistic fuzzy system including intutionistic fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy logic by Atanassov was based on the elements of uncertainty. A common architecture of intuitionistic fuzzy logic controller (IFLC) is designed and proposed in this paper. The capability of the proposed architecture is clearly elucidated through the experimental results.

        Functional analysis of a cryptic promoter from Arabidopsis thaliana reveals bidirectionality

        Cryptic promoter elements play a significant role in evolution of plant gene expression patterns and are prospective tools for creating gene expression systems in plants. In a previous report, a 452 bp promoter fragment designated as cryptic root-specific promoter (AY601849) was identified immediately upstream to T-DNA insertion, in the intergenic region between divergent genes SAHH1 and SHMT4, in T-DNA tagged mutant M57 of Arabidopsis thaliana. In silico analysis of 452 bp promoter revealed typical eukaryotic promoter architecture, presence of rootspecific motifs and other cis-regulatory motifs responsible for the spatial and temporal expression. GUS expression driven by 452 bp in M57 was developmentally as well as light-regulated. The AT-rich 452 bp promoter does not show homology to any known sequences. The 452 bp promoter was further proved cryptic and detailed molecular characterization of the promoter carried out through serial 50 and 30 deletion analysis, by cloning the promoter fragments upstream to promoter-less GUS vector. A 279 bp fragment obtained by deleting 173 bp from 50 end of 452 bp was capable of driving root-specific expression, similar to that of full-length promoter. Further, root tipspecific, root-specific and core-regulatory motifs for rootspecific expression were identified at positions 173–227, 251–323 and 408–452 bp, respectively, from the 50 end of 452 bp. The 452 bp promoter was equally functional in inverse orientation, hence bidirectional and symmetric. In heterologous systems, such as Brassica juncea and Oryza sativa, the promoter activity was not significant since GUS was not visually detected in transient assays.

      • Design and implementation of novel 4-arm Rotary Slide Stainer

        The design of a novel 4-arm Rotary Slide Stainer for cytological study is proposed in this paper. In this design, both the structure and software control systems are developed. The objective was to achieve higher staining efficiency by the simultaneous staining of 96 (24x4) slides in one complete staining cycle, through an indigenous design having the minimum possible footprint. The design should also enable the user to run custom staining cycles as required. Structurally, the system consists of a rotary and a linear type actuator with controllers housed in a metal enclosure, and with 30 reagent jars arranged in a circular pattern. Manually controlled running water supply-in is provided. User interfacing is done by a Raspberry Pi single board computer by using a custom-built GUI. This GUI enables the user to perform the required staining cycle using a touch-based interface. User is able to customize parameters such as stain time, dwell time, slide positioning etc. Pap smear technique was used for slide preparation. The testing of the prototype unit yielded satisfactory results, both in terms of the staining efficiency as well as stain quality of the slides.

        Enhancing biomethanation from dairy waste activated biomass using a novel EGTA mediated microwave disintegration

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A novel approach to explore the impact of calcium specific chelant - Ethylene glycol tetra acetic acid (EGTA) on deflocculation followed by biomass disintegration using microwave (MW) was investigated. In the first phase of the study, the EGTA dosage of 0.012 g/g suspended solids (SS) was found to be optimal for disassociating the biomass. Subsequent disintegration of biomass in microwave (EGTA-MW) yielded a biomass lysis and solids reduction of about 39.7% and 30.5%. EGTA-MW disintegration reduces the amount of specific energy required to disintegrate the biomass from 18,900 kJ/kg TS to 13,500 kJ/kg TS, when compared to control. The impact of EGTA-MW disintegration on anaerobic digestion was also evident from its methane yield (235.3 mL/g VS) which was 36.2% higher than control.
