To overcome the problem of the yield reduction due to the viral satellite mediated protection, a culture mix of three nitrogen-fixing bacteria species of the genus Azospirillum (A. brasilienses N040, A. brasilienses SP7, and A. lipoferum MRB16), and one strain of cyanobacteria (Anabena oryzae Fritsch) were utilized as biofertilizer mixture in both greenhouse and field experiments. When protected plants were treated with biofertilizer mixtures, the fruit yield of biofertilized plants increased by 48% and 40% in a greenhouse and field experiment, respectively, compared to untreated plants inoculated with the protective viral strain alone. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) analysis of total nucleic acid (TNA) extracts revealed that biofertilization did not affect the accumulation of the viral satellite RNA (CARNA 5) that is required for plant protection against other destructive viral strains of CMV. The yield increment was a good compensation for the yield loss caused by the use of the protective viral strain associated with CARNA 5.

We report the discovery of Xi(c)(3055)(0), observed by its decay into the final-state Lambda D-0, and present the first observation and evidence of the decays of Xi(c)(3055)(+) and Xi(c)(3080)(+) into Lambda D+. We also perform a combined analysis of the Lambda D+ with the Sigma K-++(c)- and Sigma(c)*K-++(-) decay modes to measure the ratios of branching fractions, masses and widths with improved accuracy. We measure the ratios of branching fractions B(Xi(c)(3055)(+) -> Lambda D+)/B(Xi(c)(3055)(+) -> Sigma(++)(c) K-) = 5.09 +/- 1.01 +/- 0.76, B(Xi(c)(3080)(+) -> Lambda D+)/B(Xi(c)(3080)(+) -> Sigma K-++(c)-) = 1.29 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.15, and B(Xi(c)(3080)(+) -> Sigma(c)*K-++(-))/B(Xi(c)(3080)(+) -> Sigma K-++(c)-) = 1.07 +/- 0.27 +/- 0.04, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic. The analysis is performed using a 980 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider.

We present the partial branching fraction for inclusive charmless semileptonic B decays and the corresponding value of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element vertical bar V-ub vertical bar, using a multivariate analysis method to access similar to 90% of the B -> X(u)l nu phase space. This approach dramatically reduces the theoretical uncertainties from the b-quark mass and nonperturbative QCD compared to all previous inclusive measurements. The results are based on a sample of 657 X 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected with the Belle detector. We find that Delta B(B -> X(u)l nu; p(l)*(B) > 1.0 GeV/c) = 1.963X(1 +/- 0.088(stat) +/- 0.081(syst)) X 10(-3). Corresponding values of vertical bar V-ub vertical bar are extracted using several theoretical calculations.
