        An Empirical Analysis on the Relation between Martial Arts Training and Adolescent Mental Health

        To study the impact of martial arts training participation features on adolescent mental health and posit arguments that support martial arts training and practice as alternative therapeutic tools, which can be used to improve adolescent mental health. A questionnaire with a psychological scale. An independent sample T-test and analysis of variance were used to investigate and analyze the mental health status of adolescents who actively practiced and did not practice any form of martial arts and to identify differences in their mental health levels based on their levels of martial arts training in four prefecture-level cities of Henan Province. The level of depression, anxiety, and hostility of adolescents who participate in martial arts training are significantly lower than that of those who do not participate in martial arts training; the level of somatization, interpersonal relationship, depression, and anxiety of trainers who train for 1.5 h or more is significantly lower than those whopractice for less than 1.5 h; the obstacle factors on interpersonal relationship, depression, and anxiety of martial arts practitioners with over 3 years of training are significantly lower than that of martial arts practitioners with less than 3 years of training. Adolescents’ mental health can be considerably improved by practicing and participating in martial arts training for more than 1.5 h per session and lasting for over 3 years.

        Algorithm of Gaussian Sum Filter Based on SGQF for Nonlinear Non-Gaussian Models

        To improve the filtering effect of the sparse grid quadrature filter (SGQF) under non-Gaussian conditions, the Gaussian sum technique is introduced, and the Gaussian sum sparse grid quadrature filter (GSSGQF) is developed. We present a systematic formulation of the SGQF and extend it to the discrete-time nonlinear system with the non-Gaussian noise. The proposed algorithm approximates the non-Gaussian probability densities by a finite number of weighted sums of Gaussian densities, and takes the SGQF as the Gaussian sub-filter to conduct the timeand measurement update for each Gaussian component. An application in the discrete-time nonlinear system with the non-Gaussian noise has been shown to demonstrate the accuracy of the GSSGQF. It outperforms the unscented Kalman filter (UKF), the cubature Kalman filter (CKF) and the SGQF. Theoretical analysis and simulation results prove that the GSSGQF provides significant performance improvement in the calculation accuracy for nonlinear non-Gaussian filtering problems.

        A Spectroscopic Study on Singlet Oxygen Production from Different Reaction Paths Using Solid Inorganic Peroxides as Starting Materials

        Using solid inorganic peroxides (including Li2O2, Na2O2, SrO2 and BaO2) as starting materials, three reaction paths for singlet oxygen (1O2) production were developed and studied. Their 1O2 emission spectra in the near-IR region and visible region from these reaction paths were simultaneously recorded by a near-IR sensitive Optical Multichannel Analyzer and a visible sensitive Optical Spectrum Analyzer, respectively. The comparison of their 1O2 emission spectra indicated that: (1) in term of the efficiency for 1O2 production, the gas-liquid-solid reaction path (in which Cl2 or HCl and H2O reacted with the solid inorganic peroxides suspension in CCl4) was prior to the gas-solid reaction path (in which Cl2 or HCl reacted with the solid inorganic peroxides suspension in CCl4), but was inferior to the gas-liquid reaction path (in which Cl2 or HCl reacted with the solid inorganic peroxides solution in H2O or D2O); (2) the alkali metal peroxides (such as Li2O2 and Na2O2) was prior to the alkaline earth metal peroxides (such as SrO2 and BaO2) as the solid reactants, and Cl2 was favorable than HCl as the gas reactant in efficiency for 1O2 production in these reaction paths.

        Characteristic Model-based Adaptive Fault Tolerant Control for Four-motor Synchronization Systems Considering Actuator Failure

        This article proposes a characteristic model-based adaptive fault tolerant control scheme to deal with actuator failure in four-motor synchronization systems, which usually causes sudden inertia ratio change and backlash increase. Firstly, the characteristic modeling method is applied into servo system to obtain a simplified system model without losing high-order features. Also, this model could reflect real-time system status through three characteristic parameters. Secondly, a particle swarm optimization algorithm-based estimator is designed to identify characteristic parameters online. By this way, the characteristic model could react to inertia ratio changes quickly and eliminate its negative effect in signal tracking. Thirdly, an improved adaptive electric anti-backlash method is used to restrain backlash. Compared to regular anti-backlash technique, this adaptive one uses a neural networkbased fault detector to monitor motors and adjust bias current according to different actuator status, even when one motor breaks down. With these three steps combined, a fast terminal sliding mode controller is finally designed as fault tolerant controller and the stability of this closed-loop system is guaranteed by Lyapunov stability theorem. At last, the simulation and experiment results prove the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme in system control and fault tolerance.

        Characteristic Model-based Adaptive Control with Genetic Algorithm Estimators for Four-PMSM Synchronization System

        For four-PMSM synchronization systems, the complex structure, nonlinearities and uncertainties make accurate modeling and precise control difficult to realize. This article proposes an easily realized adaptive control scheme for four-PMSM synchronization system. This control scheme combines novel characteristic modeling, genetic algorithm and terminal sliding mode control together. Firstly, the four-PMSM synchronization system is described by characteristic model, which significantly simplifies system’s dynamic model without losing its highorder characteristics. Secondly, a genetic algorithm estimator is newly designed to estimate the real-time value of parameters in characteristic model, which is the key issue in obtaining an accurate system model. Thirdly, an adaptive discrete-time terminal sliding mode controller is proposed based on the characteristic model to enhance system robustness. Also, this controller can eliminate chattering effect when system is reversing. Then, the stability of the closed-loop system is proved by Lyapunov stability theorem. Finally, simulation and experiment results verify the adaptiveness and robustness of the proposed control scheme.

        Fatigue performance and life prediction methods research on steel tube-welded hollow spherical joint

        The grid structures with welded hollow spherical joint (WHSJ) have gained increasing popularity for use in industrial buildings with suspended cranes, and usually welded with steel tube (ST). The fatigue performance of steel tube-welded hollow spherical joint (ST-WHSJ) is however not yet well characterized, and there is little research on fatigue life prediction methods of ST-WHSJ. In this study, based on previous fatigue tests, three series of specimen fatigue data with different design parameters and stress ratios were compared, and two fatigue failure modes were revealed: failure at the weld toe of the ST and the WHSJ respectively. Then, S–N curves of nominal stress were uniformed. Furthermore, a finite element model (FEM) was validated by static test, and was introduced to assess fatigue behavior with the hot spot stress method (HSSM) and the effective notch stress method (ENSM). Both methods could provide conservative predictions, and these two methods had similar results. However, ENSM, especially when using von Mises stress, had a better fit for the series with a non- positive stress ratio. After including the welding residual stress and mean stress, analyses with the local stress method (LSM) and the critical distance method (CDM, including point method and line method) were carried out. It could be seen that the point method of CDM led to more accurate predictions than LSM, and was recommended for series with positive stress ratios.
