The extraction and solvent partition of the leaves ofEucalyptus citriodora, and repeated column chromatography for n-BuOH fraction yielded a new flavonoid glycoside, citrioside C (1),along with three known flavonoid glycosides (2-4). The latter wereidentified with kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl (12)-α-L-rhamnoside(2), kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamnoside (3), and quercetin-3-O-α-Lrhamnoside(4). Their chemical structures were identified on thebasis of spectroscopic data analyses including NMR, MS, UV, andIR. All constitutents were isolated for the first time from the leavesof Eucalyptus citriodora. The potential antivirus activity of all theisolated compounds was evaluated. Compound 4 showed potentantiviral activity against respiratory syncytial virus with 50%inhibition concentration (IC50) value of 1.9 μg/mL and selectiveindex value of 9.8.
Quantitative Assessment of the Diagnostic Role of CDH13 Promoter Methylation in Lung Cancer
Zhong, Yun-Hua,Peng, Hao,Cheng, Hong-Zhong,Wang, Ping Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.3
In order to explore the association between cadherin 13 (CDH13) gene promoter methylation and lung carcinoma (LC) risk, we carried out a meta-analysis with searching of PubMed, Web of Science. Ultimately, 17 articles were identified and analysised by STATA 12.0 software. Overall, we found a significant relationship between CDH13 promoter methylation and LC risk (odds ratio=6.98, 95% confidence interval: 4.21-11.56, p<0.001). Subgroup analyses further revealed that LC risk was increased for individuals carrying the methylated CDH13 compared with those with unmethylated CDH13. Hence, our study identified a strong association between CDH13 gene promoter methylation and LC and highlighted a promising potential for CDH13 methylation in LC risk prediction.
Improved trajectory similarity-based approach for turbofan engine prognostics
Cheng-Geng Huang,Hong-Zhong Huang,Weiwen Peng,Tudi Huang 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.10
Trajectory similarity-based prediction (TSBP) is an emerging real-time remaining useful life (RUL) prediction method that has drawn considerable attention in the field of data-driven prognostics. TSBP is fast, and the corresponding model is easy to train. However, TBSP only provides a point estimation of RUL, which is insufficient for some specific prognostic applications. Hence, this study introduces an improved TSBP method to handle the issue of prognostic uncertainty. On the basis of an adaptive kernel density estimation technique and β-criterion, the improved TSBP method not only provides an accurate and precise point prediction of RUL but also specifies the confidence interval of RUL prediction. The capability of obtaining the confidence interval of RUL can enhance the TSBP method for uncertainty management. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through two cases studies, which are related to turbofan engine prognostics.
CLV1 Interacts with UFO in Modulation of Gynoecium Development in Arabidopsis thaliana
Zhi-Peng Cheng,Zhong-Nan Yang,Sen Zhang 한국식물학회 2013 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.56 No.1
The gynoecium is the female reproductive structurein flowering plants. It has been known that the CLAVATA1(CLV1) gene regulates the floral meristem maintenance andfloral organ number in Arabidopsis thaliana. However, whether CLV1 plays roles in gynoecium development remainsuncharacterized. In this study, we showed that CLV1genetically interacts with Unusual Floral Organs (UFO) toregulate the development of Arabidopsis gynoecium. Throughforward genetic screen, we identified a clv1 allele, clv1-9,showing abnormal gynoecium development. Some epidermalcells on the growing inner surfaces of the clv1-9 gynoeciumfailed to fuse after contacting with each other, suggesting thatCLV1 is essential for proper postgenital fusion. Furthermore, the ufo clv1-9 double mutant exhibited an expanded uppergynoecium, narrowed lower part of the ovary, alteredvascular patterning and abaxial outward proliferation of thetransmitting tract tissues. The transcription level of the ETTgene, which is required for gynoecium structure and patternformation, was down-regulated in the ufo clv1-9 doublemutant genoecia. Taken together, our results indicate thatCLV1 functions together with UFO to regulate gynoeciumdevelopment likely through modulating the expression ofETT.

Nanocomposites reinforced with hybrid fillers of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon black (CB) are developed, aiming at enhancing the electrical conductivity of composites with balanced mechanical properties while lowering the cost of the final product. Epoxy-based nanocomposites were prepared with varying combinations of CNTs and CB as conducting fillers, and their electrical and mechanical properties were evaluated. It was shown that the addition of CNTs in CB composites enhanced the electrical conductivity of composites: a low percolation threshold was achieved with 0.2 wt % CNTs and 0.2 wt % CB particles. The CB particles also enhanced the ductility and fracture toughness of nanocomposites, confirming the synergistic effect of CB as a multifunctional filler. The novelty of this work lies in the synergy arising from the combination of two conducting fillers with unique geometric shapes and aspect ratios as well as different dispersion characteristics, which have not been specifically considered previously.

Data-driven prognostics method for turbofan engine degradation using hybrid deep neural network
Bin Xue,Zhong-bin Xu,Xing Huang,Peng-cheng Nie 대한기계학회 2021 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.35 No.12
Powerful sequence modeling capability for massive multi-sensor data enables deep-learning-based methods to obtain accurate remaining useful life (RUL) estimations. Hybrid neural networks, with learned representations based on various networks, have enhanced the prognostics accuracies than single networks. However, assembly strategies that are limited to either parallel or serial, and insufficient utilization of single networks restrict the development of hybrid networks for more complex problems. This paper proposes a datadriven method using hybrid multi-scale convolutional neural network (MSCNN) and bidirectional long short-term memory (BLSTM) network (namely HMCB network) for RUL estimation. The framework of the network includes two parallel paths. One is composed of MSCNN and BLSTM in serial and the other is a BLSTM path. The HMCB network integrates the merits of multi-scale spatial feature extraction of MSCNN and sequence learning capacity of BLSTM. Validated by C-MAPSS dataset, the HMCB network demonstrates noticeably higher prognostic accuracy than other state-of-the-art methods.
