Citrus scab disease is one of the destructive diseases that reduce the value of fruit for the fresh market. We analyzed the process of symptom development after infection with scab pathogen $Elsino{\ddot{e}}$ fawcettii in the susceptible satsuma mandarin leaves to observe the structural modification against pathogen. The cuticle and epidermal cells along with 3-5 layers of mesophyll tissue were degraded 1-2 days post inoculation. Surrounding peripheral cells of degraded tissues grew rapidly and then enveloped the necrotic area along with the growing conidia. Cross sections through the lesion revealed hyphal colonization in epidermis and mesophyll tissues. In response to the pathogen colonization, host cell walls were lignified, inner cells were rapidly compartmentalized and a semi-circular boundary was formed that separated the infected region from the non-infected region, and finally prevented the intercellular pathogen spread.

Extract of Japanese red pine needles has been used in Asia pacific regions since long periods believing its valuable properties as tonic and ability of curing diseases of unidentified symptoms. Some selective compounds present in the extract and their effects were analyzed. Carbohydrates and vitamin c were identified using HPLC; terpenoid compounds by GC-MS; anti-bacterial analysis by paper discs, plates count and gastrointestinal motility by whole cell patch clamp. The extract is a mixture of compounds therefore its diverse effect was expected. Self-fermentation in extract proceeds after spontaneous appearance of yeast strains without inoculation. Effects and composition of the extract vary with varying period of self-fermentation. Extract inhibits the growth of bacteria dose dependently exhibiting its antibacterial properties however effectiveness increases with increase in fermentation period. The extract also can modulate gastrointestinal motility in murine small intestine by modulating pace maker currents in ICC mediated through ATP sensitive potassium channel.

Pradip Paudyal,Laszlo Pap,Andras Gabor,Sharad K. Chimire 한국멀티미디어학회 2010 한국멀티미디어학회 국제학술대회 Vol.2010 No.-
A real time QoS aware adaptive radio resource management algorithm for downlink of multi-cell and multi. user MIMO-OFDMA system is presented. This proposed scheduling algorithm takes into account queue status, transmission rates, channel state information and priority of the user for subcarrier, power and bit allocation in MU-MIMO-OFDMA system. Subcarrier selection is based on the priority of the user and eigenvalue product criterion and "water-filling algorithm" is adapted for bit loading and power allocation problem. Simulation results show that this algorithm can not only increase the data rate of the system, but also QoS of the user. This algorithm can able to maintain required QoS for each user.

Lesser Himalaya of Nepal is a fold-and-thrust belt. Several active faults are identified and mapped by many researchers in Nepal in the past. The Badi Gad Fault is a well-known but less studied active fault of the Himalaya. In the present study, an attempt was made to locate and show the extension of the Badi Gad Fault as precisely as possible in the region with the aim to investigate the possible potential landslide areas and its severe effects to the community. For this purpose, a detailed geological map was prepared from Ridi to Burtiban area of western Nepal in 1:25,000 covering about 250 square kilometer area. During the fieldwork, several geological as well as geomorphic features of the fault were observed. Some of the important evidences are also investigated by the aerial photo interpretation and thin section studies of the rocks. The field evidences include the presence of several shear zones and landslides, river course diversion, terrace tilting, fault scarps etc. Discharge of water from the saturated aquifers through the fault zone has triggered several landslides in the region. A huge landslide resulted from the Badi Gad fault zone caused damming of river last year. The consequences and effects of this event are also studied in the present work. The Jajarkot Thrust and the Harewa Khola Thrust are also mapped adjacent to the Badi Gad Fault. Present study has focused to map such faults precisely and suggest the possible potential sites for present and future landslide hazard.

Brassinosteroids (BRs) are a special class of plant steroid hormones that are essential for normal growth and development. Part of confusion is whether BRs are unique to plants, because they have overlapping physiological roles with other better-studied hormones and with physiological responses caused by light. In systems designed to assay for cytokinins, the effects of BRs vary. We measured hypocotyl length for testing the ability of brassinolide (BL) to rescue double mutant between det2 and the photoreceptor null mutant phytochrome B (phyB). PHYB involved in controlling hypocotyl elongation in increased concentration of BL whereas phyBdet2 double mutant just partially rescue to phyB in white and red light indicated the involvement of BRs in PHYB regulated cell elongation. BRs regulated hypocotyl growth was delayed by BAP, a cytokinin treatment but inhibitory effects of BAPs on hypocotyl growth was slightly recovered by BL. The result indicated that the mode of action of BR and cytokinin is independent or sequential in the downstream light-regulated response control on hypocotyl elongation and also light modulated the action of BR and cytokinin in some extent.

Extracts of pine needles (Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc.) have diverse physiological and pharmacological actions. In this study we show that pine needle extract alters pacemaker currents in interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) by modulating ATP-sensitive K+ channels and that this effect is mediated by prostaglandins. In whole cell patches at 30 degrees , ICC generated spontaneous pacemaker potentials in the current clamp mode (I = 0), and inward currents (pacemaker currents) in the voltage clamp mode at a holding potential of -70 mV. Pine needle extract hyperpolarized the membrane potential, and in voltage clamp mode decreased both the frequency and amplitude of the pacemaker currents, and increased the resting currents in the outward direction. It also inhibited the pacemaker currents in a dose-dependent manner. Because the effects of pine needle extract on pacemaker currents were the same as those of pinacidil (an ATP-sensitive K+ channel opener) we tested the effect of glibenclamide (an ATP-sensitive K+ channels blocker) on ICC exposed to pine needle extract. The effects of pine needle extract on pacemaker currents were blocked by glibenclamide. To see whether production of prostaglandins (PGs) is involved in the inhibitory effect of pine needle extract on pacemaker currents, we tested the effects of naproxen, a non-selective cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) inhibitor, and AH6809, a prostaglandin EP1 and EP2 receptor antagonist. Naproxen and AH6809 blocked the inhibitory effects of pine needle extract on ICC. These results indicate that pine needle extract inhibits the pacemaker currents of ICC by activating ATP-sensitive K+ channels via the production of PGs.
