Simple and low-cost method for the measurement of inter-vehicle distance has been developed. Proposed method is based on geometric similarity between an object on the rear surface of a vehicle and its image on image sensor. Size of the object should be well-known or be informed using visible light communication. This time, a license plate was used as the object during the day, and a distance between tail lamps was used during the night. After image processing, the size or length of the objects on the image sensor was computed. Thus, inter-vehicle distance was expressed as a product of similitude ratio and focal length of a digital imaging device. Distance measurements were performed from 2 to 15 m at day and night. Using this method, less than 5% error ratios have been obtained at almost all of measurement points. Results indicate that the method would be an alternative of established ranging methods for driving safety support systems.
Development of Inter-Vehicle Distance Measurement System using Camera-Equipped Portable Device
Nobuo Sasaki,Syuhei Tomaru,Shiori Nakamura 제어로봇시스템학회 2017 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2017 No.10
In this research, an inter-vehicle distance measurement application that runs on Android operating system was developed. The proposed method was based on a similarity relationship between the license plate and the image on the image sensor. Morphological transformation was implemented to improve the detection rate of the license plate and distance measurement accuracy. Although the maximum error rate of the measured distance was 12 % at a distance from 2 m to 15 m, it is possible to reduce the value of the error rate by increasing the resolution of the captured image. The processing time for one cycle was 185 ms, and the processing time for each processing of this application was also measured. As a result, 46.5 % of the whole process was occupied by morphological transformation. However, by applying morphological transformation to only a part of the image, it is possible to reduce processing time of this processing.
Evaluation of Transmission Quality of Visible Light Communication using Bit Error Rate Measurement
Nobuo Sasaki,Hiroki Shimada,Syunpei Shimada,Hiroki Kobayashi 제어로봇시스템학회 2016 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2016 No.10
In this paper, a bit error rate testing system has been developed and the transmission quality of visible light communication was studied. An optimization of reference voltage of the comparator was performed. A measured bit error rate was less than 107 without a disturbance light. This result indicates that the developed system is applicable in indoor communication. A bit error rate clearly became worse when the disturbance light was inserted. The results showed that this testing system is possible to evaluate quantitatively the effect of disturbance light. Signal to noise ratio (SNR) at the input of comparator was calculated, and measured bit error rate was plotted versus SNR. However, a difference between measurement and theoretical curve was observed. To reduce this difference, the review of noise source and the improvement of the mounting method for transmitter/receiver, will be required.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of electroacupuncture at Zusanli on the immunohistochemical density of enteroendocrine cells related to gastrointestinal function. The authors investigated the histochemical changes of mucous substances and immunohistochemical density of gastrin, serotonin, calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), insulin, and pancreatic polypeptide (PP) secreting cells in rats. Staining density of mucous substances and the enteroendocrine cells of the gastrointestinal tract was observed with histochemical and immunohistochemical methods. Stainless steel needles with a diameter of 0.25 mm were inserted into Zusanli (St36, 5 mm below the head of the fibula under the knee joint, and 2 mm lateral to the anterior tubercle of the tibia) and connected to an electrical stimulator. The electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation was delivered for 30 minutes at 10 mA, 2 Hz in EA stimulation (2EA group) or 4 Hz in EA stimulation (4EA group) in each experimental group. In 4EA stimulation at the Zusanli, staining density of Alcian blue-periodic acid-Schiff on mucous substances of the stomach body was stronger than those of the 2EA and control groups. Study of a Suitable Structure of Dynamically Reconfigurable VLD Circuit for MP3 Decoding
Kiyotaka Komoku,Takashi Miyake,Takayuki Morishita,Nobuo Sasaki 대한전자공학회 2009 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2009 No.7
We have been proposed a VLD architecture that includes many comparators and can reconfigure the circuit structure adaptively, corresponding to VLC table number. For analyzing performance of the circuit, a functional simulation program of the proposed VLD circuit was developed. In this paper, we show the output result of the simulation program.

A recyclable, aqueous phase functioning and biocompatible photon upconverting system is developed. Hollow mesoporous silica microcapsules (HMSMs) with ordered radial mesochannels were employed, for the first time, as vehicles for the post-encapsulation of oil phase triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA-UC), with the capability of homogeneous suspension in water. In-depth characterization of such upconverting oil-laden HMSMs (UC-HMSMs) showed that the mesoporous silica shells reversibly stabilized the encapsulated UC oil in water to allow efficient upconverted emission, even under aerated conditions. In addition, the UC-HMSMs were found to actively bind to the surface of human mesenchymal stem cells without significant cytotoxicity and displayed upconverted bright blue emission under 640 nm excitation, indicating a potential of our new TTA-UC system in biophotonic applications. These findings reveal the great promise of UC-HMSMs to serve as ideal vehicles not only for ultralow-power in vivo imaging but also for stem cell labeling, to facilitate the tracking of tumor cells in animal models.
[FIG OMISSION]
