Novel highly active visible-light photocatalysts in the form of zinc bismuth oxide (ZnBi2O4) and graphite hybrid composites were prepared by coupling via a co-precipitation method followed by calcination at 450 oC. The asprepared ZnBi2O4-graphite hybrid composites were tested for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) solutions under visible-light irradiation. The existence of strong electronic coupling between the two components within the ZnBi2O4- graphite heterostructure suppressed the photogenerated recombination of electrons and holes to a remarkable extent. The prepared composite exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity, leading to more than 93% of RhB degradation at an initial concentration of 50mg·L1 with 1.0 g catalyst per liter in 150min. The excellent visible-light photocatalytic mineralization of ZnBi2O4-1.0graphite in comparison with pristine ZnBi2O4 could be attributed to synergetic effects, charge transfer between ZnBi2O4 and graphite, and the separation efficiency of the photogenerated electrons and holes. The photo-induced h+ and the superoxide anion were the major active species responsible for the photodegradation process. The results demonstrate the feasibility of ZnBi2O4-1.0graphite as a potential heterogeneous photocatalyst for environmental remediation.

Background Androgens and androgen receptor (AR) are critical regulators of the masculinization process in male sexual development. The absence of a functioning AR results in the development of the androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS), a rare disorder of sexual development (DSD) characterized by the external genitalia feminization, gynecomastia, and impaired spermatogenesis. Objective To determine the AR gene mutations associated with male DSD in four unrelated Vietnamese patients. Methods To detect the disease-causing mutations, whole exome sequencing (WES) was performed on four patients diagnosed with AIS. Sanger sequencing was then used for validation of the identified mutations. Finally, 12 web-based tools, three-dimensional protein modeling software, and the guidelines issued by the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics were used to assess the potential pathogenicity of these mutations. Results Four distinct novel mutations, namely c.1834T > A (p.Cys612Ser), c.2122 C > G (p.Leu708Val), c.2630T > G (p.Phe877Cys), and c.2641 C > A (p.Leu881Met) in the AR gene, were identified in four AIS patients using WES. The in silico analysis results revealed that the Cys612, Leu708, Phe877, and Leu881 sites are important for an appropriate response to androgens of the AR, and mutation at these sites can have adverse effects on the AR functions, androgen–AR interaction, and AR signaling pathway. Conclusions WES and in silico analyses strongly suggested that four novel AR mutations are pathogenic and have led to the development of AIS in the four Vietnamese patients under consideration.

Backgrounds/Aims: Parenchymal-sparing anatomical hepatectomy (Ps–AH) based on portal ramification of the right anterior section (RAS) is a new technique to avoid unnecessarily transecting too much liver parenchyma, especially in cases of major anatomical hepatectomy. Methods: We prospectively assessed 26 patients with primary hepatic malignancies having undergone major Ps–AH based on portal ramification of the RAS from August 2018 to August 2022 (48 months). The perioperative indications, clinical data, intra-operative index, pathological postoperative specimens, postoperative complications, and follow-up results were retrospectively evaluated. Results: Among the 26 patients analyzed, there was just one case that had intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma The preoperative level of α– Fetoprotein was 25.2 ng/mL. All cases (100%) had Child–Pugh A liver function preoperatively. The ventral/dorsal RAS was preserved in 19 and 7 patients, respectively. The mean surgical margin was 6.2 mm. The mean surgical time was 228.5 minutes, while the mean blood loss was 255 mL. In pathology, 5 cases (19.2%) had microvascular invasion, and in the group of HCC patients, 92% of all cases had moderate or poor tumor differentiation. Six cases (23.1%) of postoperative complications were graded over III according to the Clavien–Dindo system, including in three patients resistant ascites or intra-abdominal abscess that required intervention. Conclusions: Parenchymal-sparing anatomical hepatectomy based on portal ramification of the RAS to achieve R0-resection was safe and effective, with favorable short-term outcomes. This technique can be used widely in clinical practice.
A Mobility Control Architecture Suppor ting Fast Handover for Future Internet Networks
Nguyen, Khanh-Huy,Hwang, Won-Joo Korea Multimedia Society 2012 멀티미디어학회논문지 Vol.15 No.12
In this paper, we address the problem of fast handover support for future internet networks. The current mobility support protocols, for example Proxy Mobile IPv6, follow a centralized architecture in which a mobility controller is used to manage intra-network handovers that gives rise to high handover latency. To handle this problem, we propose a novel distributed mobility control architecture in which gateways in the network can exchange user information with neighbour gateways to support intra-network handovers, the mobility controller is only needed in case of inter-network handovers. Simulation results show that our architecture reduce approximately 20% intra-network handover latency than Proxy Mobile IPv6.

To increase immune responses of plant-based vaccines in intestine mucosal immune systems, a synthetic neutralizing epitope (sCOE) gene of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) was fused with M cell-targeting ligand (Co1) and introduced into a plant expression vector under the control of rice amylase 3D promoter. The sCOE-Co1 fusion gene was introduced into rice calli via the particle bombardment-mediated transformation method. The stable integration and transcriptional expression of the sCOE-Co1 fusion gene was confirmed by genomic DNA PCR amplification and Northern blot analysis, respectively. The expression of the COE-Co1 fusion protein was confirmed by immunoblot analysis. The highest expression level of the COE-Co1 fusion protein reached 0.083?% of the total soluble protein according to quantitative densitometry of Western blot analysis. Mice immunized with transgenic rice calli protein extracts induced significant serum IgG and fecal IgA antibody levels against purified bacterial COE. The systemic and mucosal immune responses were confirmed by measuring COE-specific IgG and IgA antibody-secreting cells in the lymphocytes extracted from the spleen and COE-specific IgA antibody-secreting cells in the Peyer's patches from immunized mice. These results indicated that oral immunization of plant-produced COE-Co1 fusion protein could elicit efficient systemic and mucosal immune responses against the COE antigen. Key message Neutralizing epitope from porcine epidemic diarrhea virus-M cell targeting ligand fusion protein was produced in transgenic rice calli and elicited systemic and mucosal immune responses by oral administration in mice.

Fe90−xNixZr10 (x = 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25) ribbons with various thicknesses were prepared byusing a melt-spinning technique. The Curie temperature, TC, of the alloys dramatically decreasedfrom 960 K to room temperature at high quenching rates. When the alloys had an amorphousstructure, their TC strongly depended on the Ni concentration. The maximum entropy change,|Sm|max, with H = 12 kOe, of the alloys was around 1 J·kg−1K−1 at room temperature. Onthe other hand, the full width at half maximum the entropy-change peak was quite large, 85 K,which was suitable for applications in magnetic refrigerators at room temperature.

The effect of Co-addition on the structure and the magnetic properties of Nd-Fe-B-based exchange spring magnets was investigated on the system of Nd₁₂-x}CoxFe82B6 (x = 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8) fabricated by using a melt-spinning method with different quenching rates. With appropriate concentrations of Co, the glass-forming ability (GFA) and the performance of the material could be significantly improved. The maximum energy product of 17.5 MGOe and a Curie temperature of about 640 K were achieved with Co-concentration of 4 %.
