Two new species of Camellia (Theaceae) from Vietnam
Lieu Thi Nguyen,Ninh Tran,Uematsu CHIYOMI,Katayama HIRONORI,Dung Van Luong,Son Thanh Hoang,Ky Danh NGUYEN,Hung Viet NGUYEN,Toan Canh THAI 한국식물분류학회 2018 식물 분류학회지 Vol.48 No.2
Two new species of Camellia (Theaceae) are described from Vietnam: Camellia vuquangensis Luong, Tran & L. T. Nguyen and Camellia hatinhensis Luong, Tran & L. T. Nguyen. The new taxa were col- lected from Vu Quang National Park in the center of Vietnam. The new finds are morphologically dissimilar to all known Camellia species. Recent Camellia discoveries have increased the number of species recorded in Viet- nam from 50 to 75, making Vietnam a center of diversity and a crucial area for more research into the diversity and distributions of Camellia.

Ternary nanocomposites based on ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), maleic anhydride-grafted EVA (EVAgMA), and nanosilica were prepared in a Haake Rheomixer. The structure of the EVA/EVAgMA/silica nanocomposites was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy. The blending sequence was found to have a significant effect on the microstructure of EVA/EVAgMA/silica nanocomposites and the dispersion behavior of the nanosilica in the EVA matrix. The tensile properties (tensile strength and elongation at break), thermal behavior, crystalline structure and weatherability of the nanocomposites were also studied. The results showed that the above properties of the nanocomposites were enhanced remarkably using 1 wt% EVAgMA.

The ability of the total extract from Physalis angulata; three fractions after partitioning with n-hexane, ethyl acetate (TBE), and water; and four withanolides (compounds 1 – 4) to phosphorylate 5'-adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) in HepG2 cells was evaluated. The TBE fraction (50 μg/mL) activated p-ACC and p-AMPK expression most strongly. Compounds 1 – 4 (10 μM) upregulated p-ACC expression at different levels. Compound 4 induced the most significant changes in p-AMPK expression, followed by 1 and 2. Sterol regulatory element-binding proteins (SREBPs) play a functional role in the transcriptional regulation of the lipogenic pathway, including fatty acid synthase (FAS) and ACC. The effects of compounds 2 and 4 (10 μM) on FAS and SREBP-1c expression under high glucose conditions (30 mM) in HepG2 cells were evaluated further. Both dose-dependently inhibited FAS and SREBP-1c expression as well as lipid accumulation (1 – 10 μM) were compared to high-concentration glucose control, which upregulated FAS and SREBP-1c. These results suggest that compounds 2 and 4 upregulate AMPK, suppress FAS and SREBP-1c, and have potential effects on glucose and lipid metabolism.
The Antecedents Of Brand Love Toward Natural Products: An Approach of S.O.R Theory
NGUYEN, Le Thai Hoa,NGUYEN, Hoang Anh Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 Asian journal of business environment Vol.12 No.2
Purpose: Natural products are becoming gradually popular because of their health - related benefits and consumers' environmental awareness. However, research in this field remains limited, the present study attempts to address this research gap by measuring the influencing levels of the antecedents on natural product brand love. Research design, data and methodology: The study employs S-O-R (Stimulus - Organism - Response) framework together with Innovation Resistance Theory and Dual-Factor Theory to propose the research model, in which health and environmental stimuli influence both of facilitators and inhibitors of internal states or organism, and then shape purchase intention and brand love as consumers' responses. The mixed research method is designed with the application of structural equation model (SEM) to analyze 530 consumers collected by convenience sampling. Results: The results revealed that two chosen stimuli, including health awareness and environmental concern were positively related to both facilitators (natural content and regional products) and inhibitors (image barrier and usage barrier) and these four factors were significantly associated to purchase intention and brand love. Furthermore, purchase intention played the mediating role on the relationship between the four organisms and brand love. Conclusions: The originality of this paper is extend S-O-R theory into natural product context with mediating effects in an emerging economy. The findings make theoretical contribution on consumer behavior and managerial implication.
A Cell - based Smoothed Finite Element Method for Free Vibration and Buckling Analysis of Shells
Chien Thai-Hoang,Nhon Nguyen-Thanh,Hung Nguyen-Xuan,Timon Rabczuk,Stephane Bordas 대한토목학회 2011 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.15 No.2
This paper further extends a cell-based smoothed finite element method for free vibration and buckling analysis of shells. A fournode quadrilateral Mindlin-Reissner shell element with a gradient smoothing operator is adopted. The membrane-bending and geometrical stiffness matrices are computed along the boundaries of the smoothing cells while the shear stiffness matrix is calculated by an independent interpolation in the natural coordinates as in the MITC4 (the Mixed Interpolation of Tensorial Components)element. Various numerical results are compared with existing exact and numerical solutions and they are in good agreement. The advantage of the present formulation is that it retains higher accurate than the MITC4 element even for heavily distorted meshes without increasing the computational cost.
