Synthesis and antimickrobial activity of benzofuran-carboxamide derivatives
Hishmat, O.H.,Nasef, A.M.,El-Naem, Sh.I.A.,Shalaby, A.M. The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 1989 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.12 No.4
The reaction of the sodium salts of 4-methoxy and 4, 7-dimethoxy 6-hydroxy benzofuran-5-carboxylic acid with ethyl chloroformate yields the corresponding dicarbethoxy derivatives. The N-substituted amides were obtained by treating the latter compounds with amines. The corresponding hydrazides were synthesized by the reaction of hydrazine hydrate on the dicarbethoxy derivatives which spontaneously cyclized to 5-substituted-2, 3- dihydro-1, 3, 4, -oxadiazol-2-one. Also the reaction with phenyl hydrazine has been studied. The dicarbethoxy derivatives and N-substituted amides were tested against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria in vitro. Most of the compounds posses moderate or slight activity against Gram positive bacteria.

Green approaches to the synthesis of spiro-4H-pyrans are reported based on the one-pot and three-component condensation via a domino Knoevenagel/Michael/cyclization sequence. These approachesinvolve evaluation of the activity of several organocatalysts in water as a reaction media and also undersolvent-free in both microwave irradiation and ball milling conditions. Extensive experiments werecarried out to optimize the reaction parameters including type and amount of catalyst, reactiontemperature and time. Microwave irradiation in presence of 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) wasobserved as the best procedure with good yields, short reaction time, environmental friendliness, andconvenient operation.

Nanofibrous poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) sheets were produced by electrospinning and grafted with oxirane groups using radiation induced grafting of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) followed by treatment with N-methyl-D-glucamine (NMDG). The NMDG density in the nanofibers was tuned by optimization of the immobilisation reaction variables using response surface methodology (RSM). The various properties of NMDG-containing nanofibers were evaluated using Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The NMDG-containing nanofibers were tested for boron selective removal from solutions. A maximum glucamine density yield of 2.2 mmol/g was obtained at 15 wt%, 87 oC, 64.7 min and 150 % for NMDG concentration, temperature, time and degree of grafting (DG), respectively. The applied procedure incorporating RSM was found to be highly effective in the optimization of covalently immobilised glucamine on the oxirane modified PVDF based-nanofibrous structure and in imparting an excellent combination of physico-chemical and boron retention properties. A complete boron removal was achieved in 100 mg/l boron solution adsorbent with a dosage of 0.6 g at pH 7 in 2 h time. This was accompanied by a promising reusability suitable for boron removal from solutions.
On Fuzzy Point Applications of Fuzzy Topological Spaces
Radwan Abu-Gdairi,Arafa A. Nasef,Mostafa A. El-Gayar,Mostafa K. El-Bably 한국지능시스템학회 2023 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL of FUZZY LOGIC and INTELLIGE Vol.23 No.2
In this study, different kinds of fuzzy point applications in fuzzy topological spaces wereexamined. In addition, the characteristics of fuzzy β-closed sets via the contribution offuzzy points, as well as new separation axioms, were investigated. Besides, some propertiesrelated to the β-closure of such points using the notions of weak and strong fuzzy points wereexamined with illustrated examples. New ideas regarding fuzzy β-upper limit, fuzzy β-lowerlimit, and fuzzy β-limit using the idea of fuzzy points were also discussed. Lastly, the fuzzyβ-continuous convergence on the set of fuzzy β-continuous functions was characterized withthe help of the fuzzy β-upper limit.
Pan-vasculitis and fulminant hepatitis following routine vaccination at the age of 4 months
Mohammad Hosny Awad,Amany El-Hawary,Gehan Sawah,Nehad Nasef 대한백신학회 2021 Clinical and Experimental Vaccine Research Vol.10 No.1
Vaccines are known to have side effects, most of which are tolerable. Vasculitis following vaccination is reported and has various modes of presentation. We report a 4-month-old girl presented with an unusual presentation of fulminant hepatitis, pan vasculitis, and diffuse body aneurysms following routine immunization diagnosed by echocardiography and computed tomography angiogram. It is important to be aware of different possible adverse effects following vaccines and their different modes of presentation as well as possible treatments such as intravenous immunoglobulins and high dose methylprednisolone.
Vapor-liquid equilibrium of ethanol/ethyl acetate mixture in ultrasonic intensified environment
Taha Mahdi,Arshad Ahmad,Adnan Ripin,Mohamed Mahmoud Nasef 한국화학공학회 2014 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.31 No.5
A vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) study was conducted on ethanol/ethylacetate mixture as a preliminarystep towards developing an ultrasonic-assisted distillation process for separating azeotropic mixtures. The influenceof ultrasonic intensity and frequency on the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) of the mixture was examined using a combinationof four ultrasonic intensities in range of 100-400W/cm2 and three frequencies ranging from 25-68 kHz. Thesonication was found to have significant impacts on the VLE of the system as it alters both the relative volatility andazeotrope point, with preference to lower frequency operation. A maximum relative volatility of 2.32 was obtainedat an intensity of 300 W/cm2 and a frequency of 25 kHz coupled with complete elimination of ethanol-ethyl acetateazeotrope. Results from this work were also congruent with some experimental and theoretical works presented in theliterature. These findings set a good beginning towards the development of an ultrasonic assisted distillation that iscurrently in progress.
