A phenanthroline derivative, which has an aniline group, was synthesized by palladium catalyzed Suzuki cross coupling reactions. The aryl phosphine ligand, PPh<SUB>3,</SUB> showed higher activity than the alkyl phosphines, P(<SUP>t</SUP>Bu)<SUB>3</SUB> and PCy<SUB>3,</SUB> in the Suzuki couplings and provided the coupled product, 4-phenyl-7-(4'-amino-biphenyl-4-yl)-[1,10]phenanthroline (5), with 73% yield. Its ruthenium complex, bis(4,7-diphenyl-[1,10]phenanthroline){4-phenyl-7-(4'-amino-biphenyl-4-yl)-[1,10]phenanthroline} ruthenium(II) bis(hexafluorophosphate) (8), was synthesized under mild conditions. This complex showed a linear fluorescence intensity response between pH 3.5 and pH 8.5.
DC-DC switching converter with positive and negative outputs for active-matrix LCD bias

<P>A DC-DC switching converter chip is proposed to generate both positive and negative voltages for active-matrix LCD (AMLCD) bias. An inductive boost converter and two inverting charge pumps are integrated in a proposed chip by using a 0.5 ¿m 5 V, 3.5 ¿m 30 V CMOS process. A conventional scheme used to bias AMLCD employs a switching-boost converter with several off-chip components to generate the required positive and negative voltages. The circuit proposed in this study achieves high performance with a minimum number of off-chip components. Additionally, the proposed method is capable of generating a wide range of negative voltages by varying the reference voltage to supply optimised power for the AMLCD system. Because the supply voltage of the developed inverting charge pump is supplied by the output voltage of the boost converter through a linear regulator, the operations of switching-boost converter and inverting charge pump are independent and are without cross-regulation problems. The boost converter-s input power supply range is 2.8-5.5 V, the output voltage range is 10-20 V and the clock frequency is 780 kHz. The maximum efficiency is 84% with the input power supply at 5.5 V, an output voltage of 10 V and a load current of 100-mA. The integrated inverting charge pumps have two outputs that generate -2× and -4× the reference voltage. The overall core size is 2150 ¿m × 2150 ¿m.</P>
SHEAF-THEORETIC APPROACH TO THE CONVOLUTION ALGEBRAS ON QUIVER VARIETIES

In this paper, we study a sheaf-theoretic analysis of the convolution algebra on quiver varieties. As by-products, we reinterpret the results of H. Nakajima. We also produce a refined form of the BBD decomposition theorem for quiver varieties. Finally, we study a construction of highest weight modules through constructible functions.
시효열화시킨 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V 강의 고온화의 회전굽힘 피로강도에 관한 연구

The estimation of the remaining life for the aged components in power plant as well as chemical and petroleum plants has been recently concerned. The raw materials used in this study are the 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel which intensified P and S compositions along with the nominal compositions of ASTM A 470 standard. Five kinds of specimens with the different degradation levels were prepared by isothermal aging heat treatment at 630.deg.C. The mechanical properties and rotated bending fatigue strength of virgin and aged 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel have been investigated through the hardness, tensile, fatigue test, SEM fractograph and EDS analysis at 538.deg.C and room temperature, respectively. Thus the data of aged specimens were compared with those of virgin specimen to evaluate the aging effects. The main results obtained in this study are as follows ; The decrease of the yield and tensile strength due to degradation was distinguished until 50, 000hrs simulated service time. And it was confirmed that the considerable amount of P, Mn, Cr and S was precipitated at the grain boundary of aged material through the SEM and EDS analysis. The rotated bendingd fatigue strength at 538.deg.C of virgin, 25, 000, 50, 000, 75, 000 and 100, 000 hrs aged material was decreased 44.6 %, 49.6 %, 51.5 %, 52.4% and 53.8% than that of virgin material at 10$_{7}$cycles of room temperature, respectively. The major cracks of virgin and aged materials mainly initiated at the inclusions including Si, P and Mn compositions which were located at the outer periphery of the specimen.n.

본 연구에서는 열대지역에서 교목의 형태로 생장하나, 과실수 및 약용수종 등 비목재 자원의 용도로만 활용되어 목재로 이용가치가 불분명한 Syzygium속 3개 수종(Clove tree, Syzygium aromaticum; Kupa, Syzygium polycephalum; Spicate eugenia, Syzygium zeylanicum)을 선정하여 3단면에서 관찰되는 해부학적 특성을 조사, IAWA 분류기준에 의거 주요 식별지표를 얻고자 하였다. 공시수종들은 공통적으로 생장륜의 경계가 불명확하고, 관공들이 산공재의 형태로 관찰되었다. Clove tree의 대표적인 해부학적 특징으로는 타 수종 대비 접선방향 직경이 작은 도관들이 높은 밀도로 분포하였으며, 축방향 유세포는 1-3층의 세포로 구성된 대상의 배열로 나타났고, 방사단면에서 평복세포와 4층 이상의 방형 또는 직립세포로 구성된 형태의 방사조직이 관찰되었다. Kupa의 축방향 유세포는 수반유조직으로, 3층 이상의 세포로 구성된 대상유조직의 형태를 보였으며, 방사단면에서 방사조직이 평복세포와 4층 이상의 방형 또는 직립세포로 구성된 형태로 관찰되었다. Spicate eugenia의 횡단면상에서는 단접선상 형태의 축방향유세포 배열이 나타났으며, 방사조직은 방사단면상에서 평복세포와 단층의 방형 또는 직립세포로 구성된 형태였으며, 접선단면상는 대부분 단열의 형태로 관찰되었다. 이러한 연구성과를 기반으로 공시수종상호간을 식별하는 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이라 판단한다.
