Multi-step Internal Nitriding of Tungsten-titanium Alloys

Internally nitrided dilute W-Ti alloy specimens having a heavily deformed surface microstructure were prepared by a multi-step internal nitriding at 1573-2073 K. Primary nitriding below their recrystallization temperature induced a precipitation of ultrafine TiN particles. After secondary and tertiary nitriding, those precipitates grew into rod-like TiN with a length of 20-60 nm. The recrystallization temperature after nitriding was elevated above 2073 K. The yield strength at 1773 K obtained from nitrided W-0.5 mass% Ti alloy was about 5 times as large as that of the recrystallized specimen. DBTT of the nitrided alloys was about 373 K.

The previous paper presented the conclusions and discussions with the following three points [Nagae, Tsunehiro and Horauchi, Yoshitsugu, 2004]: ·Japan-Korea Index Comparison:"2002 Environmental Sustainability Index"; ·Change in Environmental Administrations; and ·Strategic Environmental Management in Japan and Korea. This paper refers to utilization of technology road-mapping and technology roadmap for the strategic environmental management of technologies .To more accurately strategic target and plan future high tech growth initiatives, the technology roadmap provides a strategic inventory and overview of the R&D assets. Association of direct bilirubin level with postoperative outcome in critically ill postoperative patients

Background: Hyperbilirubinemia is a common postoperative complication. Elevated direct bilirubin (D-Bil) and indirect bilirubin (I-Bil) levels are related to different pathophysiologies; therefore, their associations with outcomes also differ. However, there have been few comparative studies of such associations in postoperative patients. Methods: This retrospective study compared the associations of postoperative D-Bil and I-Bil with outcomes. We included adult patients requiring postoperative intensive care for more than 48 hours between 2008 and 2013, except those undergoing liver operations. The number of patients was determined using a power calculation. D-Bil and I-Bil measurements were obtained on postoperative days (POD) 1 and 2. The primary outcome was defined as hospital mortality, with the number of ICU-free survival days (IFSD) at POD 28 as the secondary outcome. Results: The study population consisted of 1,903 patients with a mortality rate of 2.2%. D-Bil at POD 1 was significantly higher in non-survivors than survivors (P = 0.001), but I-Bil at POD 1 showed no such relation (P = 0.209). Multivariate logistic analysis indicated that higher postoperative D-Bil was independently associated with increased postoperative mortality (POD 1: adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 2.32, P < 0.001; POD 2: adjusted OR = 1.95, P < 0.001), but I-Bil showed no such relation (POD 1: P = 0.913; POD 2: P = 0.209). Increased D-Bil was independently associated with decreased IFSD at POD 28 (POD 1: adjusted coefficient = –1.54, P < 0.001; POD 2: –1.84, P < 0.001). In contrast, increased I-Bil at POD 1 was independently associated with increased IFSD at POD 28 (POD 1: adjusted coefficient = +0.39, P = 0.021; POD 2: +0.33, P = 0.080). Conclusions: D-Bil indices have a higher capability than I-Bil for predicting poorer outcomes in critically ill postoperative patients.

本硏究は、佐野市が抱える課題解決のために設立された「さのまちづくり株式會社」設立經緯と事業槪要をフィ一ルドリサ一チ(field research)の手法を用いて分析した事例硏究である。 本事例硏究は、「さのまちづくり株式會社」4つの優先順位に基づく事業內容として、(1)まちづくり計畵と街幷み保存による、交流人口·定住人口の增加を狙うこと、(2)情報發信廣告事業、テナント募集事業などにより運營資金の增加を狙うこと、(3)イベントの企畵運營などにより活性化を狙うこと、(4)レンタルサイクル事業により活性化を狙うこと、という特性を提示すると共に、まちづくり會社等の主な活動の類型化を通して、ベンチマ一キングのSPDLIモデルに基づく「稼げるシステム化によるまちづくりの創生戰略」を探究したものである。 This article is a case study which analyzes the establishment and the business outline of Sano Machi-zukuri Corporation, a community development joint-stock corporation established for the purpose of solving social problems in the city of Sano. The analysis was done using a field research method. The study analyzed the following four parts of the business: 1. community development planning, including the maintenance of rows of houses and stores, for the purpose of increasing population and the amount of visitors 2. advertising and the dissemination of information about Sano to visitors and prospective tenants to increase working funds 3. the planning and management of new events in Sano, to revitalize the city 4. providing rental bicycle facilities for visitors We categorized these business elements as soft business or hard, and treated Akihabara Town Management Co. as a bench mark, based on the SPDLI model. Finally, we investigated strategies for systematizing the elements of community development for the purpose of profitable regional revitalization management.

The Joint Project to Construct High-intensity Proton Accelerators (J-PARC)

From Japanese scal year JFY01, which started on April 1, 2001, a new accelerator project to provide high-intensity proton beams proceeded into its construction phase. This project, which is now called the J-PARC (Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex) project, is conducted under a cooperation of two institutions, KEK and JAERI. We set a goal to achieve 1 MW proton beams at 3 GeV and 0.75 MW beams at 50 GeV. The project will be completed within six years, with the anticipated rst beams in the spring of 2007. In this report, I describe the whole project, scientific goals of the project and strangeness nuclear physics programs in detail.

Improvement of Functional Properties of Egg White Protein through Glycation and Phosphorylation by Dry-heating

Egg white protein (EWP) was glycated with maltopentaose (MP) through the Maillard reaction and subsequently phosphorylated by $85^{\circ}C$ dry-heating at pH 4.0 for 1 d in the presence of pyrophosphate. The functional properties of glycated, phosphorylated EWP were compared with those of native EWP and with EWP which was phosphorylated by dry-heating in the presence of pyrophosphate under the same conditions. The phosphorus content of EWP was increased to ~0.60% by phosphorylation, and to ~0.74% by glycation with MP and subsequent phosphorylation. The electrophoretic mobility of EWP increased through phosphorylation. The stability of EWP against heat-induced insolubility at pH 7.0 was considerably improved by phosphorylation alone and further by phosphorylation after glycation. The anti-ovalbumin antibody response was reduced significantly by glycation and phosphorylation, and further reduced by phosphorylation after glycation. The anti-ovomucoid antibody response was reduced significantly by glycation, phosphorylation and phosphorylation after glycation. The calcium phosphate-solubilizing ability of EWP was enhanced by both phosphorylation methods.
