Zinc ferrite/polyaniline composite particles: Pigment applicable as electro-active paint

        Lenka Munteanu,Andrei Munteanu,Michal Sedlacik,Erika Kutalkova,Miroslav Kohl,Andrea Kalendova 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.115 No.-

Hybrid conductive paint pigments composed of zinc ferrites (ZF) and polyaniline (PANI) were analysed asboth a potential electro-active and corrosion-protective paint from the electrorheological (ER) point ofview. The particles were characterised using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy. These hybrid conductive particles are used as pigments suitable for applications in paints whichwas confirmed by determining the consumption of linseed oil, the specific conductivity of aqueousextracts and the density of the tested pigments according to the relevant standardized methods. Thechemical stability of particles was evaluated by means of durability tests in aggressive environmentshowing excellent results for the coated particles. Both ZF/PANI particles and pure ZF were dispersedin silicone oil and their ER behaviour was analysed through controlled shear rate and dynamic oscillatorytests. The ER performance of the pure ZF and the composite ZF/PANI suspensions were compared, showingpromising results and enhanced ER performance and attention-worthy ER efficiency of the later (inparticular, the ER efficiency of the coated particles exceeded 105 % at 0.01 s1). Lastly, the results werefurther validated via dielectric spectroscopy. Thus, the ZF/PANI particles have the potential to be appliedas a hybrid ER fluid and an electro-active paint.

GRAY CURVATURE IDENTITIES FOR ALMOST CONTACT METRIC MANIFOLDS

Mocanu, Raluca,Munteanu, Marian Ioan Korean Mathematical Society 2010 대한수학회지 Vol.47 No.3

Alfred Gray introduced in [8] three curvature identities for the class of almost Hermitian manifolds. Using the warped product construction and the Boothby-Wang fibration we will give an equivalent of these identities for the class of almost contact metric manifolds.

ON THE CLASS OF COMPLEX DOUGLAS-KROPINA SPACES

Aldea, Nicoleta,Munteanu, Gheorghe Korean Mathematical Society 2018 대한수학회보 Vol.55 No.1

In this paper, considering the class of complex Kropina metrics we obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions that these are generalized Berwald and complex Douglas metrics, respectively. Special attention is devoted to a class of complex Douglas-Kropina spaces, in complex dimension 2. Also, some examples of complex Douglas-Kropina metrics are pointed out. Finally, the complex Douglas-Kropina metrics are characterized through the theory of projectively related complex Finsler metrics.

ON COMPLEX FINSLER SPACES WITH RANDERS METRIC

Aldea, Nicoleta,Munteanu, Gheorghe Korean Mathematical Society 2009 대한수학회지 Vol.46 No.5

In this paper we introduce in study a new class of complex Finsler spaces, namely the complex Randers spaces, for which the fundamental metric tensor and the Chern-Finsler connection are determined. A special approach is devoted to $K{\ddot{a}}ahler$-Randers metrics. Using the length arc parametrization for the extremal curves of the Euler-Lagrange equations we obtain a complex nonlinear connections of Lorentz type in a complex Randers space.

Low cost adsorbents obtained from ash for copper removal

        Maria Harja,Gabriela Buema,Daniel-Mircea Sutiman,Corneliu Munteanu,Daniel Bucur 한국화학공학회 2012 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.29 No.12

We investigated the utilization of ash and modified ash as a low-cost adsorbent to remove copper ions from aqueous solutions such as wastewater. Batch experiments were conducted to determine the factors affecting adsorption of copper. The influence of pH, adsorbent dose, initial Cu2+ concentration, type of adsorbent and contact time on the adsorption capacity of Cu2+ from aqueous solution by the batch adsorption technique using ash and modified ash as a low-cost adsorbent were investigated. The optimum pH required for maximum adsorption was found to be 5. The results from the sorption process showed that the maximum adsorption rate was obtained at 300 mg/L when a different dosage of fly ash was added into the solution, and it can be concluded that decreasing the initial concentration of copper ion is beneficial to the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent. With the increase of pH value, the removal rate increased. When the pH was 5, the removal rate reached the maximum of over 99%. When initial copper content was 300 mg/L and the pH value was 5, the adsorption capacity of the zeolite Z 4 sample reached 27.904 mg/g. The main removal mechanisms were assumed to be the adsorption at the surface of the fly ash together with the precipitation from the solution. The adsorption equilibrium was achieved at pH 5 between 1 and 4 hours in function of type of adsorbent. A dose of 1 : 25 g/mL of adsorbent was sufficient for the optimum removal of copper ions. For all synthesized adsorbents the predominant mechanism can be described by pseudo-second order kinetics.
