      • Analyzing Traceability Optimization for Enhancing Product Safety in Supply Chain

Muhammad Saad Memon,Young Hae Lee(이영해),Sonia Irshad Mari 대한산업공학회 2013 대한산업공학회 춘계학술대회논문집 Vol.2013 No.5

Recent severe product recalls stimulate the manufacturers to limit risk associated with products in order to save consumer health and increase the consumer trust. Therefore implementing efficient safety management system from raw material purchasing to delivery of final product to its customer is major concern of all industries. Effectual traceability system is now major concern of all supply chain partners. Effective design of traceability system may turn out to be significant tool for managing product safety issue in batch production system. Traceability associated literature only focus on technological perspective, however traceability and its implications on product safety is rarely available in literature. The aim of this paper is to analyse the traceability phenomena for enhancing product safety by reducing the batch dispersion.

      • A Grey System Theory Based Approach for Supplier Evaluation and Selection

Muhammad Saad Memon,Young Hae Lee(이영해),Sonia Irshad Mari 한국경영과학회 2014 한국경영과학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2014 No.5

It is extremely difficult to successfully maintain the performance of manufacturing firm without considering a suitable set of suppliers. The effective estimation of supplier’s capabilities are real arduous tasks for managers. The objective of this paper is to develop framework for reducing the risks associated with suppliers. Supplier selection decision consist of stochastic and recognitive uncertainties and to deal with these uncertainties we use grey systems theory based approach. We first identified the important criteria which affect the supplier selection decision and then proposed a grey goal programming based approach to select suitable set of suppliers and optimal order allocation to each selected supplier.

      • Mathematical models and information systems in humanitarian supply chain management

        Muhammad Salman Habib,Young Hae Lee,Saad Memon 대한산업공학회 2015 대한산업공학회 추계학술대회논문집 Vol.2015 No.11

In the past decade humanitarian supply chain (HSC) has attracted attention of researchers due to increasing frequency of disasters. The factor of unpredictability and complexity in the occurrence of disasters, demands some better measures in order to reduce losses both human and economic. Viewing this need the field of HSC has been served with diverse nature of mathematical techniques and information systems that has played important role to overcome problems encountered in the planning of different phases of disaster. Mathematical models enable us to exploit limited resources in an efficient manner while information systems enable us to make timely decisions by providing access to real time information. This variety of research work in the field of HSC is motivating the need of a systematic literature. So, viewing the need this paper presents the review of the mathematical contributions made in last decade and information systems being used in HSC. A systematic literature review methodology has been used for this paper. There are goals to write this paper. First, to conduct an up-to-date survey of mathematical models and information systems being utilized in HSC and the second one to highlight the potential research areas which require attention of researchers.

Sustaining Low-Carbon Emission Development: An Energy Efficient Transportation Plan for CPEC

        Zubedi, Asma,Jianqiu, Zeng,Arain, Qasim Ali,Memon, Imran,Khan, Sehrish,Khan, Muhammad Saad,Zhang, Ying Korea Information Processing Society 2018 Journal of information processing systems Vol.14 No.2

Climate change has become a major challenge for sustainable development of human society. This study is an attempt to analyze existing literature to identify economic indicators that hamper the process of global warming. This paper includes case studies based on various countries to examine the nexus for environment and its relationship with Foreign Direct Investment, transportation, economic growth and energy consumption. Furthermore, the observations are analyzed from the perspective of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and probable impact on carbon emission of Pakistan. A major portion of CPEC investment is allocated for transportation. However, it is evident that transportation sector is substantial emitter of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas. Unfortunately, there is no empirical work on the subject of CPEC and carbon emission for vehicular transportation. This paper infers that empirical results from various other countries are ambiguous and inconclusive. Moreover, the evidence for the pollution haven hypothesis and the halo effect hypothesis is limited in general and inapplicable for CPEC in particular. The major contribution of this study is the proposal of an energy efficient transportation model for reducing CO2 emission. In the end, the paper suggests strategies to climate researchers and policymakers for adaptation and mitigation of greenhouse gases (GHG).

      • SUPPLY CHAIN RESILIENCE – A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

Sonia Irshad Mari,Young Hae Lee(이영해),Muhammad Saad Memon 한국경영과학회 2013 한국경영과학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2013 No.5

Supply chain today are more vulnerable than ever. Serious financial losses to organizations due to supply chain disruptions requires development of resilient supply chains. There is broad evidence by both the researchers and practitioners, that there is a great need to make more resilient supply chains due to the increasing complexities and in order to face and compete in this unstable, unpredictable and turbulent business environment. Due to importance of topic, the aim of this paper is to provide systematic literature review that provides comprehensive knowledge from dynamic and static perspective. Our research follows the systematic literature network analysis (SLNA) methodology for developing evidence informed knowledge management process. The present literature review gives a brief look at supply chain resilience and the emerging trends and issues in this area. The identified research directions can be helpful for the development of models for handling supply chain resilience issues.
