Lipid and Protein Constituents of Crotalaria juncea L.
Muhammad Akhtar Javed,Muhammad Saleem,Muhammad Yamin,Tanvir Ahmad Chaudri 한국생약학회 1999 Natural Product Sciences Vol.5 No.3
Seed lipids and proteins of Crotalaria juncea L were analyzed for fatty acids and amino acids respectively. Gas chromatographic analysis of the oil gave palmitic acid (16.01%), stearic acid (7.29%), oleic acid (14.41%), linoleic acid (54.44%) and linolenic acid (7.86%). The defatted seed cake contained all the essential amino acids except methionine and six non-essential amino acids.
Genetic signature of strong recent positive selection at interleukin-32 gene in goat
Akhtar Rasool Asif,Sumayyah Qadri,Nabeel Ijaz,Ruheena Javed,Abdur Rahman Ansari,Muhammd Awais,Muhammad Younus,Hasan Riaz,Xiaoyong Du 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.7
Objective: Identification of the candidate genes that play key roles in phenotypic variations can provide new information about evolution and positive selection. Interleukin (IL)-32 is involved in many biological processes, however, its role for the immune response against various diseases in mammals is poorly understood. Therefore, the current investigation was performed for the better understanding of the molecular evolution and the positive selection of single nucleotide polymorphisms in IL-32 gene. Methods: By using fixation index (FST) based method, IL-32 (9375) gene was found to be outlier and under significant positive selection with the provisional combined allocation of mean heterozygosity and FST. Using nucleotide sequences of 11 mammalian species from National Center for Biotechnology Information database, the evolutionary selection of IL-32 gene was determined using Maximum likelihood model method, through four models (M1a, M2a, M7, and M8) in Codeml program of phylogenetic analysis by maximum liklihood. Results: IL-32 is detected under positive selection using the FST simulations method. The phylogenetic tree revealed that goat IL-32 was in close resemblance with sheep IL-32. The coding nucleotide sequences were compared among 11 species and it was found that the goat IL-32 gene shared identity with sheep (96.54%), bison (91.97%), camel (58.39%), cat (56.59%), buffalo (56.50%), human (56.13%), dog (50.97%), horse (54.04%), and rabbit (53.41%) respectively. Conclusion: This study provides evidence for IL-32 gene as under significant positive selection in goat.
Dielectric and impedance studies of DBSA doped polyaniline/PVC composites
Asma B. Afzal,M. Javed Akhtar,Muhammad Nadeem,M.M. Hassan 한국물리학회 2010 Current Applied Physics Vol.10 No.2
Polyaniline (PANI) was doped with dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA) and then mixed with PVC by solution blending method to prepare DBSA doped PANI (PAND)/PVC composites. FTIR spectroscopy indicates the strong dipole–dipole interaction between the individual components of the composites. The ac electrical properties of the synthesized composites were investigated by complex impedance spectroscopy in the frequency range of 0.5–106 Hz at room temperature. Both dielectric loss factor and permittivity increase with the decrease of frequency exhibiting strong interfacial polarization at low frequency. Addition of PAND in PVC reduces the charge trapping centers by increasing the number of conducting channels participating in the relaxation process; hence an increase in conductivity is observed.
Studies on the Lipid Classes of Nicotiana tabacum L. Seed Oil
Amran Waheed,Shahid Mahmud,Muhammad Akhtar Javed,Muhammad Saleem 한국생약학회 2001 Natural Product Sciences Vol.7 No.4
The lipid classes constituents; hydrocarbons, wax esters, sterol esters, triacylglycerols, free fatty acids, 1,3-diacylglycerols, 1,2-diacylglycerols, free sterols, 2-monoacylglycerols, 1-monoacylglycerols, phosphatidylethanolamines, phosphatidylcholines, lysophosphatidylethanolamines and phosphatidylinositols of Nicotiana tabacum L. seeds oil were investigated by thin layer and gas chromatography. Palmitic, oleic and linoleic acids were the major components in all lipid classes studied.
