Study on Adaptability of Rubber Dam Clamps on Primary Second Molars in Korean Children
Mirae Park,Yon-Joo Mah,Byung Duk Ahn 大韓小兒齒科學會 2013 大韓小兒齒科學會誌 Vol.40 No.2
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mesiodistal widths at the cervical level of primary second molars in Korean childrea, and to compare them with commercial rubber dam clamps commonly used in pediatric dentisty. Dental casts of 115 primary and mixed dentition children were studied. Cervical mesiodistal width (C-MD) was measured at the clinical cervical level of each primary second molar from buccal and lingual sides using a digial caliper (Absoulate, Mitutoyo, Kawasaki, Japan). The data were compared with mesiodistal widths of rubber dam clamps #203/204, #10/11, and #205 (Dentech, Japan). C-MDs of primary mandibular second molars were larger than those of primary maxillary second molars, and C-MDs at buccal sides were larger than those of lingual sides. All C-MDs showed statistically significant discrepancies to corresponding widths on clamps (p<0.05). However the amount of discrepancy was mild in maxillary teeth, while up to 1 mm of discrepancy was shown in mandibular teeth. In conclusion, C-MDs measured in this study imply a relatively fair fit of #10/#11 or #203/#204 clamps on primary maxillary second molars, while suggesting our need for a better clamp with proper size for primary mandibular second molars.
The Complete Plastome Sequence of an Antarctic Bryophyte <i>Sanionia uncinata</i> (Hedw.) Loeske
Park, Mira,Park, Hyun,Lee, Hyoungseok,Lee, Byeong-ha,Lee, Jungeun MDPI 2018 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCES Vol.19 No.3
<P>Organellar genomes of bryophytes are poorly represented with chloroplast genomes of only four mosses, four liverworts and two hornworts having been sequenced and annotated. Moreover, while Antarctic vegetation is dominated by the bryophytes, there are few reports on the plastid genomes for the Antarctic bryophytes. <I>Sanionia uncinata</I> (Hedw.) Loeske is one of the most dominant moss species in the maritime Antarctic. It has been researched as an important marker for ecological studies and as an extremophile plant for studies on stress tolerance. Here, we report the complete plastome sequence of <I>S</I>. <I>uncinata</I>, which can be exploited in comparative studies to identify the lineage-specific divergence across different species. The complete plastome of <I>S</I>. <I>uncinata</I> is 124,374 bp in length with a typical quadripartite structure of 114 unique genes including 82 unique protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes and four rRNA genes. However, two genes encoding the <I>α</I> subunit of RNA polymerase (<I>rpoA</I>) and encoding the cytochrome b6/f complex subunit VIII (<I>petN</I>) were absent. We could identify nuclear genes homologous to those genes, which suggests that <I>rpoA</I> and <I>petN</I> might have been relocated from the chloroplast genome to the nuclear genome.</P>

<P>A well-defined WO3/Bi2S3 composite comprised of single-crystalline Bi2S3 nanowire (Bi2S3NW) layers on top of the WO3 nanoparticles (WO3NP) was synthesized via an in situ hydrothermal reaction. The single-crystalline Bi2S3 nanowires were uniformly grown on the surface of the WO3 nanoparticle layer. This in situ hydrothermal process is also a general route for the synthesis of well-aligned Bi2S3 nanowires on various metal oxide substrates, such as TiO2, BiVO4, and ZnO. Compared to the sole Bi2S3 electrode, the resulting WO3NP/Bi2S3NW composite showed enhanced photoelectrochemical activity. The origin of this enhanced activity is mainly attributed to the enhancement of charge separation on the Bi2S3 layer, due to the effective photogenerated electron transfer from the Bi2S3 conduction band to that of WO3. Furthermore, the single-crystalline longitudinal structure of the Bi2S3 nanowires can provide a direct electrical pathway through a single domain of nanowires.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Facile preparation of self-assembled wool-based graphene hydrogels by electron beam irradiation
Park, Mira,Pant, Bishweshwar,Choi, Jawun,Park, Yong Wan,Lee, Chohye,Shin, Hye Kyoung,Park, Soo-Jin,Kim, Hak-Yong 한국탄소학회 2014 Carbon Letters Vol.15 No.2
Three dimensional self-assembled graphene hydrogels were easily fabricated by electron beam irradiation (EBI) using an aqueous solution of wool/poly(vinyl alcohol) and graphene oxide (GO). After exposure to various levels of EBI radiation, the highly porous, self-assembled, wool-based graphene hydrogels were characterized using scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy; to determine the gel fraction, degree of swelling, gel strength, kinetics-of-swelling analyses and removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) from the aqueous solution. X-ray diffraction results confirmed that EBI played a significantly important role in reducing GO to graphene. The adsorption equilibrium of Cr(VI) was reached within 80 min and the adsorption capacity was dramatically increased as the acidity of the initial solution was decreased from pH 5 to 2. Changes in ionic strength did not exert much effect on the adsorption behavior.
