Africa has witnessed a steady and rapid rise in internet penetration since the beginning of the 21st century. The use of the internet in politics has brought about dramatic changes in the traditional methods of carrying out political activities in Africa. This study examines the impact the internet has had on political activities in both Ghana and Nigeria. It was observed that the internet especially social media have been adopted by politicians in these countries as a new medium for campaigning, rating their performances through opinion polls and carrying out their activities as political parties and as a government. The internet have brought about a more effective means of election monitoring and have increased citizen’s interest and participation in political activities in both Ghana and Nigeria. There were lapses identified with the upsurge of internet usage in these countries such as the rise of personality attacks through the internet and also the concentration of internet users mainly in the main cities. The study concluded that a solid foundation for future successful elections have been laid in both Ghana and Nigeria with the proliferation of internet usage in these countries and therefore needs to be consolidated.
루마니아 및 터키 지역 적응 자포니카 다수성 벼 신품종 ‘Roko 20’

‘Roko 20’ is high-yielding, medium-maturity japonica rice variety adaptable to Romania and Turkey. It was developed and registered (Registration Nr. 6578 in ISTIS, Romania) from a cross between ‘Haedamssal’ and the salt resistant Romanian cultivar ‘Polizesti 28’ in 2021. The vegetation period of ‘Roko 20’ was 121 days in Turkey and 136 days in Romania. The culm length of ‘Roko 20’ was 80 cm, and the 1,000-grain weight of paddy rice was 31.0 g. The ripening ratio was similar to that of the control cultivar ‘Polizesti 28’ at 81%, and the proportion of amylose content of brown rice was 18.5%, which was slightly lower than that of the control cultivar ‘Polizesti 28’ (20.2%). The paddy rice yield was 18% higher than that of the control cultivar with 8,535 kg/ha. The proportion of brown rice and milled rice recovery was 81.6% and 65%, respectively. However, the head rice was slightly lower (44% in Turkey and 49% in Romania) than that in ‘Polizesti 28’ (52%).

Traditional sport organizations and their sponsors are beginning to embrace esports, but the effectiveness of non-endemic sponsorships in esports remains uncertain. Esports consumers are notoriously hostile to organizations they perceive as seeking to exploit them – including the growing ranks of non-endemics seeking to capitalize on the youth- and tech-centric esports industry. The purpose of this study is to evaluate esports consumers’ perceptions of non-endemic sponsorships. We adapt a well established sport sponsorship model to the context of esports to test key relationships’ salience to sponsors. We demonstrate that non-endemic sponsors can benefit from esports team sponsorship through enhanced attitudes, perceived goodwill, and product purchase intentions. Moreover, we find that there is only a small effect of esports brand attitude on attitude toward the sponsor, yet a larger effect on perceived goodwill and product purchase intentions. This suggests that firms with limited marketing budgets can benefit from increased goodwill and purchase intentions by sponsoring emerging esports teams who provide low-cost sponsorship opportunities.

This paper presents a road condition estimator based on the wheel acceleration and a torque controller for a vehicle equipped with an electric motor. In the first step, the instantaneous friction coefficient and the maximum friction coefficient between the wheel and the road are estimated, without knowing a priori the road conditions. Next, a longitudinal controller is set up to ensure the two main functions : braking with anti-skidding function and traction control using the electric motor torque as a unique actuator. Unlike the torque generated by classic internal combustion engines, the torque of electric motors is available almost instantaneously. In addition, it can be measured on-line which means that advanced control techniques can be applied. The approach presented in this paper relies on recent algebraic techniques for numerical differentiation and diagnosis, and a feedback sliding mode control scheme to ensure the vehicle is operated at the maximum friction zone in both acceleration and braking phases, along with a given reference speed to track.
On Fault Handling in Control Systems

Whereas fault diagnosis has been the subject of intensive research since the 1970s, the design of fault tolerant systems is a recent research field which does not set its foundations in a unified framework and does not use a unified vocabulary. As a contribution to this special issue, this paper proposes an ontology for the problem of Fault Handling, that embeds the problem of Fault Tolerance.
Requirement Analysis of Lidar Sensor Setups for Self-Localization in Automated Valet Parking

In the use case of automated valet parking (AVP), localization must be accomplished based on environmental sensors due to the lack of satellite visibility. Previous research has presented suitable methods, which, on the other hand, generally apply a 360° lidar setup. In order to achieve a series introduction of AVP, it is necessary from an economic point of view to achieve self-localization with scaled-down sensor setups that correspond to the current state of series production. Addressing this challenge, this work investigates to what extent a 360° lidar reference sensor setup can be reduced in order to achieve sufficiently robust self-localization in parking garage environments. The investigations are carried out in a real environment in two parking garages in conjunction with a test vehicle equipped with a 360° lidar reference setup. On the basis of a definition of different sensor arrangements, a parameter variation is carried out. As evaluation basis for the requirement analysis, a self-localization based on a modified iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm introduced in the scope of the work is applied.
