This work was conducted to identify mungbean genotypes showing yield stability and resistance to mungbean yellow mosaic virus (MYMV) disease. Sixteen genotypes were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with two replications for two years (2011 and 2012) at three locations (Gazipur, Ishurdi and Madaripur) of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute. An analysis of variance exhibited significant effects of genotype (G), environment (E), and genotype ${\times}$ environment ($G{\times}E$) on grain yield. Among eight agronomic characters, the principal component 1 (PC1) was always higher than the PC2. Considering $G{\times}E$ interaction, BM6 was the best genotype at all three locations in both years. Based on grain yield and stability performance, BM6 ranked first while the worst performing genotypes were BM1 and G10. Based on discrimination and representation, Gazipur was identified as an ideal environment for these mungbeans. Relationship between soil-plant analysis developments (SPAD) value was positive with yield but negative with MYMV severity. BM6, G1 and G2 were considered as promising sources of resistance for low disease score and stable response across the environments. The environment proved to have an influence on MYMV infection under natural infestation. A positive correlation was observed between disease score and the temperature under natural growing condition.

The research assesses the impact of a digital procurement (e-purjee) system for sugarcane growers in Bangladesh. The system itself is simple, transmitting purchase orders to local farmers via SMS text notification. It replaces a traditional paper-based system fraught with low reliability and delivery delays. Applying expected value theory, and using decision tree representations to depict growers' decision-making complexity in an information-asymmetric environment, we compute outcomes for the strategies and sub-strategies of ICT vs. traditional paper-based order management from the sugarcane growers' perspective. The study results show that the digital procurement system outperforms the paper-based system by tangibly reducing growers' economic losses. The digital system also appears to benefit growers non-monetarily, because of reduced uncertainty and a higher level of perceived fairness. Sugarcane growers appear to value the non-monetary benefits even higher than the economic advantages of the e-purjee system.

<P>Our study shows that among aza-heterocycles of various ring sizes, including aziridines, azetidines, pyrrolidines, and piperidines, only N-alkyl pyrrolidines undergo competitive reaction pathways with chloroformates to yield N-dealkylated pyrrolidines and 4-chlorobutyl carbamates. The pathway taken depends on the substituent on the nitrogen, i.e., ring-opening with methyl and ethyl substituents and dealkylation with a benzyl substituent. Computational calculations support the substituent-dependent product formation by showing the energy difference between, the transition states of both reaction pathways. Selective ring-opening reactions of N-methyl and N-ethyl pyrrolidine derivatives with chloroformates were utilized to prepare various 4-chlorobutyl carbamate derivatives as valuable 1,4-bifunctional compounds.</P>
The Carbon Sequestration Potential of Forestry Sector: Bangladesh Context
Md. Shawkat Islam Sohel,Md. Parvez Rana,Mahbubul Alam,Sayma Akhter,Mohammed Alamgir 강원대학교 산림과학연구소 2009 Journal of Forest Science Vol.25 No.3
Forests potentially contribute to global climate change through their influence on the global carbon (C) cycle. The Kyoto Protocol provides for the involvement of developing countries in an atmospheric greenhouse gas reduction regime under its Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Carbon credits are gained from reforestation and afforestation activities in developing countries. Bangladesh, a densely populated tropical country in South Asia, has a huge degraded forestland, which can be reforested by CDM projects. To realize the potential of the forestry sector in developing countries like Bangladesh for full-scale emission mitigation, the carbon sequestration potential should be integrated with the carbon trading system under the CDM of the Kyoto Protocol. This paper discusses the prospects of carbon trading in Bangladesh, in relation to the CDM, in the context of global warming.
Visible-Light-Induced Synthesis of Carbazoles by in Situ Formation of Photosensitizing Intermediate

<P>A visible-light-induced synthesis of N-H carbazoles from easily accessible 2,2'-diaminobiaryls in the absence of any external photosensitizer is reported. The process only requires BuONO and natural resources, visible light, and molecular oxygen for the synthesis of N-H carbazoles. Experimental and computational studies support that the in situ formation of a visible-light-absorbing photosensitizing intermediate, benzocinnoline N-imide, is responsible for the activation of triplet molecular oxygen to singlet oxygen that, in turn, promotes the synthesis of carbazole.</P>

WiMAX is intended for fourth generation wireless mobile communications where a group of users are provided with a connection and a fixed length queue. In present literature traffic of such network is analyzed based on the generator matrix of the Markov Arrival Process (MAP). In this paper a simple analytical technique of the two dimensional Markov chain is used to obtain the trajectory of the congestion of the network as a function of a traffic parameter. Finally, a two state phase dependent arrival process is considered to evaluate probability states. The entire analysis is kept independent of modulation and coding schemes.
